Fuji Yama Mama Restaurant

I have come here a few times. I had some sushi that didn’t taste right and decided to give the place another chance, but now I just read that there’s a pest problem and the health department is involved!!!

I came here on a week night to celebrate my friend’s birthday. It was my first time here, so I had high hopes. Well, one step in the door and I’m being talked to rudely. I stated that I had a party of five, and they said ok, and asked if I would like to be seated. The owner, I presume, proceeded to question me about how long it would take for them to arrive. I informed her they were on their way and she said ‚“like 5 minutes?” to which I responded yes. Then I sat and ordered a drink. I had to repeat the name five times before she understood me and there was no one there! She also had to look at the menu, making it seem like I had ordered something that I concocted in my head. The same thing happened to a few others in my party, and it gets really old after a while. The sushi was decent, although I don’t order traditional sushi I enjoyed the California and cucumber rolls. While I was eating, a waiter continually reached over me to pour a little bit of water in my cup every time I had a sip. I enjoy receiving good customer service, but this place just hasn’t figured that out. It’s not worth it to come here and get okay food and customer service that’s all over the map. I won’t be coming back.

Is this the best sushi or hibachi place. No it is not. However it’s a great value and they do everything pretty good. I personally love the reduced priced sushi and drinks they do during the week.

Been here twice for hibachi and love it! The food is fresh and the cooks are always so fun. If you haven’t had hibachi before try it! Just the experience is so fun and entertaining. The cooks are trained so well and really make for a good time. Fuji Yama has a variety of different hibachi options, this last time I ordered the scallops and beef mix. For about $ 20 – 25 depending on what meat you get you have a four course meal. You get dinner and a show with your choice of soup (clear or miso), ginger salad (the ginger dressing is awesome), your main dish which includes fried rice or noodles and veggies, and end the night with some tasty ice-​cream. My steak was great but I wasn’t so thrilled with the scallops, they tasted a little funny. Overall, great experience at Fuji, I definitely recommend trying the Hibachi, it would be great for a big group of friends!

Loved, super fast service, the waitress was lovely, food came in like 15 minutes and was awesome. Highly recommend!

They offer fresh food with really thick pieces of sushi. Great quality and you get your monies worth. I ordered online fur pickup and was pleased.

The taste of the food here was fine. I had raw fish appetizers, rolls, and sashimi. Everything was fine until the sashimi where I can tell something about the fish was off. It wasn’t necessarily bad, but it was a bit strange. That night I got stomach sick and so did my friend who only ate rolls. The fish at this place is not fresh. Not coming here again.

My sister speaks very highly of this place, and now I know why! The sushi is sooooo good! And the prices during deal times are impeccable. I loved everything I ordered. The service was fine. They don’t bug you for chatting even after you’ve paid. I’d definitely go back again!

Tried this sushi joint last night with the wife. Excellent customer service, decent atmosphere, but like others said, the rolls were a little bland. It was all fresh though and we’d eat there again if we were close by.

WoW! this is one of my favorite places to go. I have gone with larger groups and just as a couple with my husband, every time the experience is awesome. the hibachi is always so good and cooked to perfection. the cooks are always friendly and accommodate special request with no issues. My favorite cook is Sam, he always remembers us and how i hate onions. lol. sometimes we just get sushi and they have sushi special sometimes. I have gotten different types of sushi as well as, lettuce wraps, beef satay, edamame, ice cream tempura, bubble tea and lots more. I love the ginger dressing and love it for the salad as well as to dip my hibachi meat it. I have no complaints about this place. the restaurant is clean and the staff is always friendly.

I really like the ½ off sushi on the weekdays which is why i always come here. Not only that, they have hibachi which is really good. The service is ok. Waitress only takes our order, gives us the food and check and that’s it. The sushi rolls are delicious and there are a lot of options of cooked food and sushi.

Good value and a nice restaurant overall. Service is friendly and fast. The food isn’t anything to write home about, but the prices are reasonable for what you get. The fish is fresh and the rolls aren’t bad at all. Have a beer or two and you’ll leave satisfied.

The weekday half off sushi and beer special is a good deal and draws many diners, but their high regular prices, high noise level and not being BYO are negatives. Sushi tastes fresh and many special rolls are ordered.
I have not tried anything but the sushi.
Much easier to park here than for Nagoya, Akai, etc

Never disappoints. Consistently good. Their tuna pizza is awwwesome. They have half price sushi, fresh and perfect.

Why did I bother? Came back to try the hibachi. What an awful experience. Came in a bit early for dinner and it was very empty. We sat at hibachi table… Waitresses were folding napkins on the other side of our table. We had to wave them down to order food, order drinks, we were apparently a deterrent to their very important task of folding napkins for the day. The hibachi was not great, would say almost bad. Bland, small portioned. Blah, meh.
Plenty of other great places. Don’t waste your time.

So I’ll keep this short and sweet because I’ve only ever had sushi here… With that being said, this place has great sushi. When I’m in the area I always swing by for their sushi happy hour while in pretty much all day every day (lol) for half priced sushi. The quality is always great and their one of the few places that serve forbidden rice/​black rice/​purple rice which is a healthier option that has a great taste and, in my opinion, pairs better with almost every roll/​sushi.

I’m a fan of Fuji Yama Mama.
I have been coming here on and off for the past 5 years with friends and family. The restaurant showcases a typical Japanese décor and contains two rooms, one for ordering off the menu and the other for hibachi dinners. They have a decent sized menu with many traditional sushi options. Can they be hit or miss with their sushi? Yes, but for the most part I have no complaints. The prices are reasonable and Monday through Thursday sushi is half price. Everything on the menu is made fresh in front of you at the sushi bar. My favorites are Spicy Crunchy Tuna, Christmas roll, California roll and the Dragon roll. They offer 3 different types of Japanese beer. My favorite is Ichiban with a shot of sake. On my most recent visit I finally had the hibachi. I can honestly say «I wish I tried it sooner.» I went with the Seafood combination of shrimp, scallops and lobster with fried rice and mixed vegetables. The portion was generous and the food was delicious. For dessert I recommend the green tea ice cream and the chocolate ice cream.

The food and hibachi is my favorite and sushi is better than any other sushi ive tasted. It is also very affordable on half priced sushi nights but there is few downfalls. When you go to hibachi, the chef squirts you with water even if you ask him not too and you leave being sticky with sake and water. It is not very respectful. Also, takeout is full priced and on half priced sushi nights when id like to have some sushi at home i opt not to because of how expensive it is.

Thought we’d try a new sushi spot tonight.
Nope.
The rolls were very bland.
The salad wasn’t chilled so it didn’t taste very fresh.
Tables felt sticky as well.
Going back to our tried and true place, for sure.

Great sushi and appetizers. Love the half price deal from Sunday through Thursday. Hands down best sushi I have ever tried.
Sometimes customer service isn’t the best but the sushi is too good to care about their customer service. Would def. Recommend to family and friends
