Chocolates were pretty good, but for the price they charge it may be a little extravagant. To be honest you might be better off ordering goods from Amazon if you were to compare prices and quality in sweets. Staff was dull, but that did not really effect this review. I would be rather much more comfortable going to the Chocolate Bar on Quimby Street in downtown Westfield.

Sorry folks, but I just don’t get the 4 and 5 star ratings. Went there for jelling rings and they were out of them. Asked for rum balls and they only carry them at Christmas time. Ended up with jelly squares and after trying them I thought«bummer.» The dark chocolate is so terribly sweet and the jelly has absolutely no taste. $ 20 down the drain for this pound of candy. A bit of advice to the owner: hire someone who smiles and at least pretends she’s happy to have you as a customer. Next time I have a craving for jelling rings, or any other homemade chocolate, I’ll head down the parkway to Holsten’s in Bloomfield. They always have whatever I’m looking for and the kids who work there always have a smile on their face. And at least I can sit down and have a hamburger and milk shake. This was my first and last visit to Brummer’s.

Our first New Years Day in town, we had a huge party and invited neighbors, one of whom brought a box of butter crunch. It was heavenly – ½ pound didn’t last more than 10 minutes as we cleaned up after party. Since then I have visited many times for gifts for various occasions. the chocolate is extraordinary and the service is unfailingly courteous – with free gift wrapping to boot!

Apparently this is Westfield’s go to chocolate and candy place. Few days before Easter this place was packed with a ton of chocolate Easter bunnies and eggs in different sizes — and tons of people buying them. Just note this place is pretty tiny with narrow aisles — but that’s only because this place is packed with candy — and with lots of people you better grab what you want when you see it. In addition to the seasonal chocolates they had three cases full of their usual delicious confections. You can buy them by weight — and they also have some smaller sizes prepackaged if you want to sample. I noticed some of the ladies were missing some smiles– considering they are swelling a ton of yummy goodness– but since it was crazy busy I am giving them the benefit of the doubt. I usually avoid sugar — but this place was definitely a good cheat for me.

The chocolates are delicious. I don’t agree with their minimum order on their truffles. I think I should be able to purchase only one nut cluster covered in chocolate and caramel(mmmm… delicious), but I can’t!

I had the opportunity to enjoy Brummer’s last week and was completely satisfied with their delicious chocolate! Their almond milk chocolate bark was sweet and smooth and I stopped by again this week to pick up some more. As for some of their other items(peanut butter milk chocolate balls and choc. covered pretzels), they didn’t seem as fresh as the bark. I was disappointed with their pretzels… they were soggy and chewy inside the chocolate(I prefer crisp and crunchy). My sister LOVED the chocolate covered oreos and after purchasing some at Vaccaro’s in Clark, declared Brummer’s as the winner. I’ll have to try these next time we go.

Brummer’s Chocolates is a true Westfield institution. I have lived in this area on and off for 50 years, and this store has been here as long as I can remember. They make a large assortment of delicious, hand-dipped chocolate candies on the premises in both dark and milk chocolate, giant gourmet truffles, and even sugar-free chocolates. They also sell jelly beans, hard candies, and holiday gift items. Gift wrapping is always free. If you enjoy chocolate, visiting this shop is like, well, being a kid in a candy store. Amusing story: I once met former NJ Governor Brendyn Byrne in this shop. I was pretty impressed. This is an important man, but it was cool that he was in there by himself, just buying some candy. Another customer walks in, stares at him, and exclaims, «I know you! You are Governor… KEAN!» Haw haw! Talk about an embarrassing moment…(Thomas Kean was Gov. Byrne’s successor in office, and a Republican. Byrne is a Democrat. They were political rivals, and look nothing alike).
