There are quite a few B&Bs to choose from in the Buffalo/Western NY, but Barcelona Lakeside easily tops the list. Most importantly with a B&B is the service. Roger and Leslie are really fantastic. We hit a ton of traffic heading up there from Jersey City(normally a 6 ½ hour drive, but took us 9). We got there late in the evening, almost midnight. Roger was waiting for us with a friendly smile, bottle of water, and guided tour of the inn. Although I could imagine that he might be annoyed at our late arrival(I would be), he didn’t show it in the slightest. The room was beautiful. It was clean and very stylishly decorated, not old and stuffy like some of the other inns in the area appeared on their websites. The king sized bed was very comfy. Leslie puts out a fantastic spread for breakfast, and is equally cheerful and happy to talk about all of the things to do in the area, best restaurants, pie shops, activities, etc, while serving the food. Each breakfast includes a fruit, such as poached pears and bananas with a sweet glaze, and an entrée. We had Stuffed French Toast with blueberries, one day, A breakfast skillet with eggs, bacon, cheese, and potatoes another, and an egg frittata with fresh tomatoes on the third. Everything was very good. The Inn is also located right across from the marina, so it is a lovely and relaxing place to unwind, and use as a jumping off point for the activities in the area such as winery tours, water sports, antiquing, or just driving through the countryside.

We stayed at Lakeside B & B for Saturday night and Sunday night this past weekend. To say that the accommodations were wonderful is an understatement. We had the«Lakeview Room» which looks out over Lake Erie directly across the road from our room. The extremely spacious room had all of the modern amenities that any fine hotel would have, including a startlingly clean full private bathroom and a flat-screen TV. Was what really fun, though, was the furniture consisted of authentic antiques including the marble-top dresser and full wardrobe. The bed was antique but large and very comfortable. Breakfast was provided by the owners, Rodger and Leslie Hazen, and was fabulous. We had what they termed«stuffed French bread» that turned out to be a casserole-like dish filled with fresh blueberries and cream cheese along with coffee and fresh orange juice. The company was equally impressive as Rodger and Leslie are very personable and friendly. We highly recommend this quaint easily accessible gem.
