Second time this company came to my house and again did a FABULOUS job. Highly recommended(and Im picky!)

It seems I unfortunately had the same experience as Keri did in the review below– complete with the owner using a «pet hair excuse» for the poor job performance. I bought a Living Social deal for 2 hours of cleaning. They sent 2 girls to clean for one hour, who my husband said were very nice(he was there when they first came). They ONLY cleaned my small kitchen and 1 bathroom– that’s it! And, they didn’t even do a great job at that. Besides wiping off the counters, cleaning the microwave and sink, and washing the floor, I don’t know what they did in the kitchen. They didn’t do the refrigerator(which I had asked), didn’t touch the oven, you could see dirty mop marks on the floor where they went around things, I have an island bar in the kitchen that wasn’t touched except for the top(dust on the rungs). The bathroom was better, but there was still a ring in the toilet, the shower doors had marks on the stainless, and the trash wasn’t emptied. I took a shower later that night and you chould see scratch marks on my vanity mirror. I took pictures of everything and contacted the owner, letting her know I was very disappointed. I had hoped to find a reliable, regular service to use due to some health issues. Her reply was that because of «all of the pet hair» that delayed them, and that the pet hair got wet and then clogged their vacuum. First, I do have 2 long haired black cats, and yes there is certainly pet hair in my house(I told them this when I scheduled the appointment– which now I think is where this excuse came from). I find it very interesting that the reply from the owner to Keri’s review below also blamed«dog hair» for the reason they couldn’t do a good job. The pet hair in my home is regularly kept up with and both the kitchen and bathroom had been vacuumed(with a dyson pet hair vac) 2 days prior. I do not believe for a second that the amount of cat hair in my small kitchen and small bathroom was enough to delay them so greatly they weren’t able to clean anything else in the house, or even do a great job in the 2 rooms they did actually clean. If the pet hair was wet and clogged their vacuum, they probably should have swept before they mopped– if there was wet pet hair, they made it wet. I don’t have piles of wet pet hair sitting around my house. As for the mirror, she said it was impossible they could have scratched it because they use microfiber cloths. As someone who actually sells special microfiber cloths for cleaning, I agreed with her, except for the fact that should you have a small piece of debris stuck to the cloth that is scratchy, that yes it could scratch a surface. Luckily, after wiping it all down the scratches are so faint that it isn’t a big issue, and they weren’t deep enough to really gouge it– thankfully. I posted pictures here on Unilocal. To top it off, I was charged an additional $ 20 travel fee because I am outside their area. They are in Westerville and I live near Kenny and North Broadway, close to 315 in 43221. Had they actually done a great job, I would not have really minded the $ 20 charge, even though I think it’s a bit much since we’re located right in Central Columbus. But, in the end I feel like it was insult to injury. The owner, Nancy, did offer to come back out and fix the issues that weren’t cleaned well enough(which is why this isn’t a 1 star review), but the things that really needed attention are the things they«didn’t have time for», like the oven, refrigerator, and the half bath they never got to. It must have been one heck of a hairball to prohibit them from being able to do any of that. In the end, the real disappointment with this company is their lack of cleaning anything at all. It was a waste of $ 69. Would I use this service again? No.

I bought a living social deal and I couldn’t be more upset with the results. I had 3 maids come for 1 hour. They only cleaned 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms in that time. They said they did the upstairs and kitchen. My kitchen floor wasn’t touched, the appliances on the counter were not moved(lots of crumbs under toaster), dirt from plants on the windowsill. They left their bag of bathroom trash on my bakers rack(not that any trash is okay, but bathroom trash is pretty gross). They are so focused on the time! 1 hour… out the door! I called the owner Nancy to tell her how displeased I was and she just apologized. I am out over $ 100 and still have to clean my own house. NEVERAGAIN will I hire them to clean my home nor will I recommend them to others, but share my experience instead! $ 100 an hour and that’s with a coupon… I am in the wrong business!

I was given a gift card for two maids for one hour. I went online over the weekend to schedule the appointment and found they only work weekdays. I requested an appointment for ASAP and waited for a call back. Due to a cancellation they were available Monday. The scheduler was friendly and sounded upbeat. Also she got straight to the point and didn’t waste my time with too much talking. The maids came on time. They were both nice(one more so than the other). I told them that I wanted to focus on my bedroom and that meant they’d need to fold and put away a ton of clean clothes. I guess this is an unusual request bc one maid looked around and said they could clean around the clothes. Of course, that’s what I’ve been doing so that wouldn’t be helpful so I asked them to focus on the clothes. Never having had a maid before, this was all very awkward. They had me look at their work before they left. I would have liked if they folded and hung things a little more carefully but at this point I’m just glad it’s done. Beyond folding they dusted and vacuumed before they ran out of time. Also as they were leaving the extra nice maid scrubbed down the tile by the front door. All in all a good experience. I did learn that 1 hour with 2 maids is not enough for my mess!

I got a Groupon for 3 two-hour house cleanings with Maid in America and they have been fabulous! Very nice to deal with, super pleasant and accommodating every time I call to schedule an appointment(some cleaners who get overwhelmed by Groupon purchasers simply stop answering their phone or emails), but MIA is very professional at all times! They’ve done a great job at cleaning my loft, including getting rid of all of the pesky pet hair from my 2 dogs. Their rates are much more reasonable than a lot of other companies I’ve contacted, so I plan on using them again at full price after I redeem my third and final cleaning with them.
