If in Westerly this is the place to eat. I am very picky and I have never been disappointed. The owner went out of his way to contact me about a special request dinner request I had only minutes after I had sent request. My special request dinner was absolutely wonderful and he also purchased dessert for my husband and my birthday tonight. Love love love this place.

Can’t think of even one negative thing to say. Great ownership, great food, intimate setting. Come here for business lunches often. I don’t plan on changing that routine any time soon either. Friendly and passionate owners who care about what they do. It shows.

Guytannos graciously took in our starving party of 1015 minutes before the kitchen closed. We had a Moms day and we stopped to watch the sunset so it was late. The service was awesome and the food was awesome. I had the steak and potatoes and it was cooked perfect and I could eat every last piece. I highly recommend the restaurant.

What a sweet surprise. Don’t let the exterior fool you! Tucked in the back corner of an u expecting parking center is this(literally) hidden gem. although I stopped in for a quick lunch and can only Base my review on that– I have to say; guytanos is a place I would 100% go back to! Had a lunch with a colleague here(a frequent visitor and raving fan) and had no expectations. First of all, the kitchen is open and clearly clean, and the chefs are so professional. The menu was pretty diverse and offered unique twists on classic dishes and vibrant favors! I ordered the special salad-a blackened chicken salad. It put a whole new spin on ‘blackened’ for me. I have had blackened fish and chicken in the last-but quite honestly have never experienced it like this. Crisp on the outside, soft on the inside and bursting with yumminess-it was a nice sized portion and indescribably delicious. The blue cheese I ordered was perfect and the julienne’d veggies were crisp and fresh. I know it was just a salad-but wowza-it was a salad to remember! Can’t wait to go back. Two thumbs up for nice casual open environment and rocking meal!

This place is a hidden little gem located in a tough location for a restaurant. They are in the way back corner of shopping plaza, they still make it work though. I’ve been to Guytanno’s quite a few times, the food is always delicious with fresh ingredients. Last time I went I had the baked scallops and it was delicious. My husband had swordfish which was also delicious. The décor is lacking and it’s pretty dark inside, rather small also. The kitchen is open in the back and it tends to be a little warm depending on where you’re sitting. Overall great place!

Dined here on 8÷10÷2014 later than usual around 8:30p. The place was bustling, but all the staff was friendly and attentive. Food portions were gargantuan and excellent! Shrimp cocktail(huge prawns) very fresh and tasy. Panko chicken, chicken alfredo, Half Guy Salad were all really good and fresh. Topped it off with Salted Caramel Gelato(heavenly) and Milk Chocolate Brownie. This is a local restaurant for local folks, unpretentious noisy atmosphere and excellent food! Hope to eat here again sometime.

Had Cuban chicken wrap with rice, avocado And cilantro(on special list) excellent! Choose the salad instead of fries, which was a great choice. There’s also avocado in the salad which I love… There house balsamic dressing was a hit also

Excellent meal. I had French onion soup and chicken Madeira, my fiancé a twin filet special. We were pleased with portion size and food overall. Our waitress was nice although she seemed a little frustrated and stressed. Very busy night there. Overall, we will probably be back.

Had lunch with 15 other seniors during restaurant week and was very impressed with the food and the service. I had eggplant Parmesan and had to take half of it home. My husband had salmon salad and ate every bite. We all had an excellent time and will be back.

Needs to be dusted. Woodwork on ceiling and fans are all caked in dust. Food was great

Italian fare. This place is like a roller-coaster. My companion had the organic tomato appetizer which was described as «orgasmic» followed by the lobster pasta, reported as very good. I was going to order the calamari but asked the server if they served the tentacles as was told«no, I wish we did», no reason given. The best part of calamari went elsewhere so I had a salad which was nondescript. For the entrée I ordered the special filet(med rare) with gorgonzola and«house sauce of the side. Hint: I only asked for the sauce on the side. The steak came as med to well(i.e. not edible for me). The place was really busy, but that is no excuse. When a restaurant is busy is the time it should excel. Anyone can do it during a slow service. I was asked if they could redo my steak, but I declined. The special sauce tasted like a combination of orange and hoisin which made me glad I requested it on the side as it did not go with beef, duck maybe. The portions are large(plan on coming hungry). The prices are average to a little above. The service was excellent, except I thought our server should have fought harder to remove my entrée from the check(I ate ¼ of the steak). The décor is dingy at best. Some areas have rugs which are disgusting. This made me wonder what the open kitchen, food storage area was really like. What you get for the money: large portions, excellent service, dingy décor and up and down food. One surprise was the wine list was nicely priced. We will give it one more go at some point and hope for a move even ride. There you have it. Magoo

Really delicious and eclectic Italian fare. I came here with my boyfriend and his brother for dinner. I had a pasta dish in a mushroom sauce with cherry tomatoes and spinach. It was delicious. We split the chocolate fudge cake for dessert. The staff was incredibly nice and accommodating, especially in adding/substituting items from my dish.

Went with 3 friends a few Friday nights ago. 1st time there for all of us. Didn’t have to wait for a table =cool I was surprised that it is really not a huge place, there is a good sized bar with an open kitchen. The décor was lacking something, I just can’t seem to put my finger on it. I was also surprised that our waitress seemed very disinterested in being at work. She didn’t crack a smile the entire time we were there, I am a watcher, I am in the business, I pick up on these things… at least ACT like you care about your customers! At least ACT like you are giving a shit & want to make some tips. I really don’t think that is too much to ask. OKAY, Back to the food… Friend 1 got Onion soup to start & couldn’t finish it off, so I took it off her hands. WOW-IEEEEE, I love cheese more then… well a lot of things & this crock was LOADED up with it. I was happy to help in eating it! Although, the dirty dish sat there until well after our meals were served, and(what I assume was) a bus person came & filled our waters twice and the unhappy waitress delivered our food… neither one of them took it away. Really??? Take the dirty plate off of our small table & free up some room! Jeeeeeez… Friend 1 who also had the onion soup got the Vegetable Focaccia, she was not impressed at all. It looked good but didn’t deliver. Friend 2 got Chicken Maderia, she wasn’t impressed either. In her words«It certainly was not delicious and was not worth the $ 15 or so that I paid for it» I think that sums it up! I chose the open faced steak sandwich & I have to say, my steak was cooked just right, but the bread it was served on was burnt to a crispy fry… if I was in the kitchen, that wouldn’t have gone out, no matter how flipping busy you are, you don’t serve burnt food. Friend 3 had a simple chicken Ceasar salad. Properly dressed & good sized portion in my opinion. She was having a very emotional week & didn’t eat too much but said it was good. Over all the night was fun chatting with my girls. Dinner experience, yes Unilocalers muh… I have had better. Over priced for mediocre food, snobby waitstaff, untrained bus people… yeah this place was doing great at all of those things. I will agree with BC who reviewed on 8−7−12 that the place is «A little to pricey for a back of a strip mall location» I guess I just have set my expectations too high, now I am wondering why restaurant owners can’t do the same

Guytannos Café is located at the end of a strip mall across from the old Westerly DMV and can be easy to miss. Nothing on the outside really stands out about it, however what it lacks on the outside, is more than made up for on the inside. Everything about this place is superb! They offer a fantastic menu selection, everything from iron steak with Korean barbeque sauce, seafood stuffed mushrooms/shrimp(sometimes baked stuffed lobster too although its seasonal) and exotic pastas! They do a great job offering an international menu selection but at the same time, they still offer local favorites this area is traditionally known for. We started off with the clam chowder, the caprese salad and the calamari. The clam chowder was especially creamy and had tons of huge clams in it. I hate going to restaurants and ordering clam chowder that has little to no clam in it! Not so here! The caprese salad was also fantastic. The tomatoes were perfectly ripe, and the balsamic vinegar was thick without being overbearing. The basil was also fresh. Too many places Ive been around here serve unripe tomatoes with cheap balsamic vinegar and dry basil(ick)! Not so here! For my main, I ordered the baked stuffed lobster. Let me just say, I’ve been around the world and back and have yet to find a place that does baked stuffed lobster, or anything baked stuffed for that matter, better than this. The chef uses a ritz cracker based, seafood(minced scallops and shrimp) stuffing which is super rich and delicious. It was also cooked to perfection. Baked stuffed lobster can be very tricky. It can end up dry and crunchy(not good in the lobster world), but Guytannoes make it to perfectly! The lobster below the stuffing was not dry at all and meshed perfectly with the stuffing! My mother ordered the Bomster scallops, which are served in butter, breadcrumbs, cheese and garlic and are a local favorite. This plate was also delicious! My husband ordered the Cavetelli pasta with sausage. The portion was huge, and the plate has a little bit of a kick to it, so keep that in mind if your order it. It was also very good! The service was impeccable. Our servers were very attentive and I loved the fact that you can see the kitchen from just about any table at the restaurant! It is clear Guytanno’s takes pride in there establishment, and it definitely shows in the quality. The prices are reasonable and I personally think a great value for the quality and portions offered. I cannot say enough good things about this place and plan on coming back every chance I get!

My wife and I where looking for a new place to eat. We found this place online so we made the 40min drive to check it out. WOW, glad we made the ride, the food was incredible. We sat at the bar and the luxury about sitting at the bar was you can actually see the whole kitchen and the guys cooking. I had the«Gorgonzola New York» which was an amazing steak dinner and my wife had the Filet Mignon which was topped with fresh crab meat. The Filet was so tender you cut cut it with a fork. And the side dish of pasta alio and mash potatoes where also incredible. Prices are reasonable, the filet and crab was $ 25 and my dish was $ 19. Can’t wait to go back

I always take my bf’s mom to dinner when we visit her in RI as a thank you for putting up with me. Naturally she gets to pick the place. This trip yielded Guytanno’s as the dinner destination. Guytanno’s doesn’t take reservations and when we called, we were advised to get there before 6:00 if we didn’t want to wait too long for a table. Geez, apparently people eat really early in Westerly. She wasn’t kidding — when we got there right at 6:00, we got one of the last tables. Mom is a big fan of their lemon-pepper calamari, so we started with two orders for the table to share. Getting seafood on the east coast always seems like a no-brainer and generally tastes better than it does in the Midwest. We also started with a round of drinks. The calamari was good, but I wouldn’t say it’s any better than a lot of the calamari I’ve enjoyed in some of my favorite restaurants in Chicago. It had a nice kick to it from the lemon and pepper, but some pieces were a little soggy. Our server then came by to take our entrée selections. I thought their menu was kind of all over the place — some Mediterranean items, some Italian, and some American. Nothing really jumped out at me so I ended up ordering a really simple pasta dish of linguini al oglio. I could easily make this dish at home, but I had a taste for it, and it’s practically impossible to screw up. The others were more adventurous and ordered a lamb kebab entrée, linguini with clam sauce, and grilled salmon. We ordered a second round of drinks while we waited for our main courses. Then we ordered a third round and waited some more. We’re all pretty buzzed by the time we realized we’d been waiting about 45 minutes for food. Finally, our server comes over and apologizes for the wait and offers us another round on the house. By now, we’ve all had enough cocktails and just want our food, so we decline. It’s another 10 minutes or so before our entrees arrive. The good news is that they’re piping hot, which they certainly should be. Everyone enjoyed their food, but I thought my pasta was kind of bland. It’s really only a few ingredients — pasta, garlic, olive oil, and parmesan, but not enough garlic or parmesan was used, so it just ended up tasting like oil. I figured I’d take the leftovers home and doctor it up and eat them tomorrow. Since we declined the offer of drinks(three rounds was plenty), Mom asked if we could have dessert instead. The server kind of bristled at the idea but consented and brought over dessert menus. The selection of desserts was very boring. I tried hard to want something(especially since it would be comped) but nothing sounded appealing, which is unusual for a dessert lover like me. We all declined and ordered cappuccinos instead. Again the server seemed irritated that we also bypassed dessert, but did buy our cappuccinos, which was appreciated. I’m not sure about everyone else’s, but my cappuccino was really weak with barely any espresso, and this comes from someone who practically puts a cup of half and half in her morning coffee. This place was really popular and seemed to have a lot of regulars so maybe we were there on a bit of an off night. I’d give it another try next time I’m in RI.
