Update: check your bill many times! Dont pay without checking. They are adding 5 $ extra every time. Food is normal. Not to crazy. What’s crazy is the lady in the cashier. She increases prices without notice. On the menu thats posted it says $ 6.50 but she charges $ 7. She adds 25cents-50cents in each item. I know its little but if your a big group it adds up. So watch out! Told her about it but she said«oh thats the old price». Still not fair. They should put up the new price before she rings it.

After giving Filipino food several tries in the past, I never enjoyed it. Like a blend of Chinese, Spanish and Polynesian cuisines that just didn’t sit right with me. Decided to give it one last chance so I came here for lunch. To the right is a grocery store. In front, a very attractive spread of various dishes that looked so good I wanted to try it all. To the left, a modest dining room filled with local Filipino families leaving to believe that this is going to be great. The very friendly and helpful staff explained the dishes to us and we ordered four of them to mix and match. The bbq pork skewer was the standout, perfectly grilled with a nice sweet sauce. Chicken adobo was a bit blah as was the oxtail stew in a very slight peanut sauce. The pork stew tasted like something I would’ve eaten in Spain, very tasty and the second best thing we ordered. The experience of eating here was great, welcoming with comforting, not bold and spicy cooking that I was hoping for and super cheap. I guess Filipino food is more comforting. I’ll certainly come back to try other dishes and recommend people to give it a try. Just note, it’s difficult to find on Post Ave.

1st review for 2016, now there are not too many filipino restaurants in the Garden City, Westbury and Uniondale area, Guiradelco came up on the radar as I placed a search for Filipino food. The place is located not too far from the LIRR«Post Ave» station. As you travel north on Post Ave from Old Country road the restaurant can be difficult to find since it is off Post Ave and located in a small secluded street with parking right in front of the restaurant. The décor is dated and hosts a small grocery store with mainly canned and dry goods for sale, but I was not here to shop at the grocery store. When you walk in there is already prepared food sitting in heated trays with varieties of your favorite filipino classics like, kare-kare and beef Karedata, and other dishes I can’t even begin to pronounce. The kitchen will also prepare items like Shanghai Lumpiang, Lechon Kawali and Crispy Pata to order. We decided on the kare-kare, beef Karedata and ordered the Lechon Kawali. After ordering we seated ourselves in the throwback 70’s tables and seats which was cool since style points don’t count here, only the food and service matters to me. The person working the front also doubles as our server. Our Kare-Kare and beef Karedata dish arrived on our table right away since it was on the prepared food tray. The Kare-Kare tasted bland as bland can be, even the shrimp paste(Bagoong) wasn’t that good and the oxtail did not have much meat. The beef Karedata was tough and chewy. We had to wait almost 20 minutes for the Lechon Kawali to come to our table and we were disappointed. The pork was not crispy or tasty, we surmised that the oil probably did not get to temperature. I did not like the dipping sauce for the Lechon, according to my Filipino bud it should be liver based, but he said it was not even close to what it should taste like. The people were friendly but that alone does not make or will a good meal. Parking was a plus which was the only notable highlight that day.

This place is located in a modest area but you would never know what great Filipino food you can get here in Westbury. Being a NY born Filipino that generally dislikes Filipino food, I shy away from these places, but am so happy I gave this place a try. My personal favorites are the Beef Machado(think Beef Stew), Fried Lumpia(Egg Roll with a very thin crispy wrapper filled with veggies), Fresh Lumpia(Egg Roll with a soft wrapper filled with fresh vegetables), the Pork Barbecue(sweet marinated pork belly), and the Garlic Peanuts(peanuts with or without skin take your pick with thin crispy garlic slices mixed in) you can buy at the register. My friends love the Lechon Kawali. The meat of the Beef Machado is so soft and juicy. The carrots and potatoes are just the right tenderness. The sauce is perfect for your mix of rice. When I start eating this, I literally eat this until I can no longer move. The fried Lumpia is a cool vegetable option. The vinegar that comes with this totally makes this an addictive treat. The fresh Lumpia seems like the healthier choice, but I always throw the peanut sauce and fresh garlic with this to make an immersive experience of vegetables. I love how the cooks make the egg wrap fresh on the crêpe like cooker. The weekend pork barbecue is a true crossover Filipino classic. It has a great peppery spice with a sugary aftertaste to remind you of why this is a classic Filipino dish. This is a family regular order, everyone orders and eats this with rice. I always take home the garlic peanuts at the register, the salty garlic seasoning is great and the peanuts and garlic have consistently been crispy for me. I can’t review the Lechon Kawali since I don’t eat it, but since my wife always orders this, I know she and her friends love it. To top it off, you’re always greeted with the smiles of staff ready to serve you. Aunty Emma is the sweetest and nicest person you can ever meet. I love supporting this place so please give the menu items above a try and prepare for an authentic and delicious of Filipino culture!

Never been to this place for a long time until today if not for an emergency need to bring a dish in the office. The dining place looks old to me(I was here just to pick up my order btw) but their food based on the one I have ordered is still one of the best in town(Long Island). The Lumpiang Shanghai is a hit in the office. Can’t believe that inside these petite spring rolls are just a mix combo of pork and celery. I am thinking there were tidbits of onions and carrots that go with it. The reviews of my co– workers who have tried it for the first time are surprisingly good in all aspects. The pricing is affordable and economical to its serving portion. Actually their price was lesser to what my caterer charge. I may continue to use their service in the future catering needs. The place has a grocery store inside. Lots of childhood snacks that I am surely missing are available for purchase. Too bad I am in a hurry to meet our luncheon party time. What I like most was how they entertained my order on a last minute placement. I was grateful to Dan who picked up the call at 7 am and have my order ready on time. The location is hard to find. I missed it twice. As it is located in the rear, the right entry to the restaurant is confusing. Their parking lot comes handy.

Best filipino spot ever! Worth the travel. Good food, nice staff and clean. If you’re Filipino you have to try chicharon bulaklak.

Can’t believe i’m giving this place 5 stars. First time i walked into this place, i took a look at the hot food counter thing and walked right back out. Everything looked so disgusting and unappetizing. But i went back and have been sampling half-orders of things ever since(it helps that i live within walking distance). At present, a half order of something is $ 3.50 and if you add a thing of rice, it’s like an extra dollar. So i tried the pork adobo the first time, and was surprised to find that it was banging. I couldn’t believe it because it looks so crappy. I was like, damn. Then i tried some tomato-y pork dish; that was banging too. Then i tried the pancit and a BBQ pork skewer on a Saturday; that was banging too. Today i just tried the beef steak, and that was banging too. I haven’t tried the other, riskier looking stuff like fish, etc… and some of the other dishes look too scary to try. My friend came with me one day and got the peanut oxtail, chicken adobo, and halo halo. He thought the chicken adobo was great but wasn’t impessed with the other stuff. Anyway, because the stuff i’ve gotten has all been really good for so cheap, i can’t help but to give this place a 5 star rating, even though it feels wrong. And i agree with other reviewers that say this place lacks for décor and is hard to find. The place looks like a run down shack. But mad love from this reviewer.

First off hard to find. It’s within a parking lot off of Post Ave, behind Juicebox Café. Décor is a bit dated and could use updating. There was a smell of cleaning solution, not the greatest when you’re planning to eat there but at least I knew they clean the place. Anyway this was all blown away and out of mind when the food arrived. the aroma of the food just was so inviting. The food in two words is F-(k!n DELICIOUS! On order the Mechado. Very authentic flavor brings me back to my moms own kitchen and to the Philippines. I also ordered the Palabok, that sauce was totally authentic in flavor. I would have like to have the option of some shrimp added to the noodles and whole chicharonnes as a side. Ordered the lumpia Shanghai delicious, didn’t like the dipping sauce so I dipped it in the Palabok sauce and that was awesome. I wanted the pork bbq but that’s only on weekends so this weekend I’ll be there to pigout on the pig. Topped if the dinner with halo halo. Phenomenal. So packed with lechwe flan, ube ice cream, macapuno, other delicious morsels I can’t even identify but sweet delicate goodness. I’m drooling as I write.

The most authentic filipino food you’ll find in Long Island for dirt cheap. Lost a star because its a very no frills thrills kind of place, not the type of place you take someone for a first date or to dress up. Its VERY casual, cafeteria style type café/restaurant where the majority of food is cooked already behind the glass counter & you point to whatever you want. It looks eh but YOUWILLBESURPRISED! You can order«half orders» if you want to try a little bit of everything(~$ 3 for one dish) **KAREKARE– stewed oxtail in a savory peanut sauce. ITSTHEABSOLUTEBESTHERE I CRAVEITEVERYDAY(if you’re brave, eat each bite with a pinch of «bagooong», anchovy sauce they serve on the side) its soooooooo good, they make it just as good as my aunts. **Bistek– strips of sautéed sirloin beef & onions… marinated and simmered in a mixture of soy sauce, calamansi, onions and garlic… sauce is yum **Caldereta– classic filipino dish, beef stew in a tomato sauce with veggies AMAZING. **Crispy pata– deep fried pork served with a soy vinegar sauce— heart attack on a platter but SOSO good. You literally cut/pull pieces of pork heaven off the bone. The skin is so so bad for you but so so amazing. Only order if you’re more than 3 people because its huge. Takes 20 minutes to cook but worth the wait. **Pork BBQ skewers– MUSTTRY. dip in vinegar! Served sat & sun only. ** Dessert– Turon(fried banana) or Halo Halo(shaved ice with evaporated milk mixed with jellies, shaved beans, ube ice-cream(purple yam) & sometimes flan). OR sago(tapioca balls served in sugar drink) I’ve been going here for 15+ years. Staff and owner(Emma) are all friendly!

I really liked this place. Very convenient. Didn’t even have to go to Queens. We had a beef dish, a chicken dish and a vegetable dish. Waiters were patient and attentive. They had a parking lot, so didn’t have to worry about feeding the meters.

Been to this restaurant many times this past year… happy with a change of scenery instead of going to Woodside, Queens to eat Filipino food etc. It started off well but the service has declined despite me giving this place several chances to make up for when they were slacking. One time there was a big nasty bug in one of my to-go dishes that I discovered when I got home. Threw the container in the fridge and brought it back to them a few days later when I was finally free to come back and show them. Got some excuse that it wasn’t no bug. Okay… I said let me give them another chance since the elderly lady was nice about it. My trips to this place after that has been crappy. The staff used to be very attentive as soon as you come in but the past few times would have me waiting for long periods of time… feeling ignored until I call out to be served. There was another incident that occurred that should have made me stop going there but the last time was straight ridiculous. My mother called ahead of time on a weekend to place an order for 10 pieces of fresh lumpia. The guy who answered said ok sure… it’ll be ready around 3pm. We travel out of our way to get there and when we arrive to pick it up they seem confused. At first they say«oh we never got that order» and then they say«oh we ran out of ingredients for it» and the guy tells us «oh I was going to call you to tell you. Sorry.» How do you not get a phone number whenever someone places an order? We travelled out of our way for nothing. Seems like this place doesn’t care as they just continued on with what they were doing and avoided us trying to fix the situation. If you want better tasting Filipino food(and even better customer service)…take the trip out to queens and go to Ihawan or Krystal’s or even Renee’s. It’s worth it to go to one of the many places in Woodside after all.

Went here excited to see and taste the food that all the reviewers were raving about. I was sadly diappointed because I really wanted to find a Filipino Restaurant close by instead of making that trek to Queens. The food looked like leftovers. The taste was blah and still saw the pig’s hair on the skin. As I walked in, the cook looked like he needed to clean up a bit. Made me question how clean this place really was. I ordered the pork dish… not sured what it was, as well as their mongo bean dish. Made me wish I could go to my mom’s house and have her food. This place left a lot to be desired. I don’t ever plan on going back. Definitely not worth the $ 7.00 combo I paid. I don’t mind paying for food that makes it become an experience«must do!» There is a reason why I keep going back to Tito Rad’s, it’s hard to find a good replacement. As I write this, I could taste that icky aftertaste in my mouth that makes me want to gag. The staff was nice though.

The good thing about this place is that they give a good portion of 2 dish sides with white rice but otherwise, the old lady won’t give you a nice attitude so your experience is not happy customer, specially if she makes you wait because she is busy running around back to the kitchen, to the food, to the store grocery counter.

OK the place is small but cute The BBQ pork is amazing I think I would be a happy woman if I could have 1 a day just saying. I can definitely live without the oxtails but that’s just me. Ps. The highlight of this place is this wonderful unique dessert called halo-halo I said this a few time but omg. It looks gross but you will be surprised.

If you’re looking for a casual place to eat a home-cooked Filipino meal, you should try Guiradelco. You will find it tucked away from Post Avenue, next to a photo studio and across from an apartment building. Once there, you can choose from a variety of dishes lined up behind the counter. Picking and choosing which ones you want can be difficult. They take your order at the counter and serve it to you at the table — a la carte-style. I usually go for the fried whole fish, kare-kare(oxtail with peanut-based sauce), rice, and of course halo-halo(shaved ice, condensed milk, beans, jellos, fruits, purple yam). I’ve also heard that the pork BBQ is delicious and recommend that based on the fact that when we went to eat, another round of it was ordered to eat there and take home! I’m a fan of this place for the quality of the food and the prices. For a small dish, more than enough to share with another person it’s about $ 5 – 6. If you haven’t tried Filipino food before and you’re out in Westbury, I suggest you try this place. Some of the other eateries in Manhattan give you less food and the prices are unbelievably high. When you’re done eating, feel free to peruse the small Filipino food store ahead. Lots of small snacks and goodies await for the ride home :)

I’ve been here twice now, and thank goodness for today’s reminder about how delightful this hole in the wall is!(I use that term with maximum endearment) I had no idea what to order so I pestered the store employees for help. Most don’t speak English too well, but my boy BJ totally helped me out– thank you! Sammy the waiter was also super friendly. I felt a little embarassed I was a clueless non-pinoy(is that how you use that term: x?) … But they were all so welcoming and helpful! I really enjoyed the chicken in coconut milk. The sisig(which I found out by accident is like… A ceviche liver and some type of land animal in a tart oniony party) was interesting to try! I did not like the pink root vegetables/eggplant/stringbean. The pork belly was very fatty. The chicken BBQ stick kind of plain but THEPORKBBQSTICKS??? DELICIOUS!!! Ding ding ding a winner! Especially dipped in that amazing sour and magically seasoned sauce, really helps cut the fatty taste(it’s very fatty but that just makes it better!!) I really wish I got to try more things. Hehe! And of course to finish off with halo halo. Deeeeelightful! Although I don’t care for the stupid mango chunks, everything else in there is awesome.
