Awesomeness Very good food. The stake on a stone and the tapas are amazing. The Service and food were very good. I would defiantly go again next time I am in Yellowstone.

What an unexpected treat!(«Treat» is putting this amazing meal lightly.) Never would we have predicted an authentic, fresh, and delicious Spanish tapas restaurant near Yellowstone. The beer and wine selection is quite nice, always a plus in my eyes. We had olives and something like bruschetta(sorry I don’t remember the name) to start and both were delightful. Then came a potato dish, ratatouille, rice, and the best mushrooms I’ve EVER had. We marveled at the freshness of the ingredients and the care clearly given to the food’s preparation. We were stuffed(large portions, even to share) but had to try the crème brûlée type custard. Fresh vanilla heaven! Perfect consistency, great portion size, crispy crust. My husband doesn’t like crème brûlée and he said it was the best he’d ever had & would eat it if it was all so incredible. We kept remarking how happy and surprised we were. For two of us, the drinks, food, and dessert was $ 60. Not bad at all. Score! I love this place and wish it was in Indianapolis so I could frequent it often. The paella looks awesome as well, ps. We don’t eat meat but a lot of the tables in close proximity were enjoying it.

Best restaurant I have been to in a very long time, and I eat out nearly every night! Very good, fresh food… Definitely my favorite and I wish Elena would open one in Denver!

Most restaurants in the WYS area are full of greasy, buttery, meat-y food. And these were places with 4+stars on TA and Unilocal.So. with great trepidation we tried Café Madriz. Oh boy. Excellent service. Outdoor seating. Food? Man. Cheese and meat platter — fantastic. Steak on a stone — hubby said some of the best he had had. Like. Ever. Meatballs– excellent — light, not heavily spiced, and didn’t sit heavy. Fantastic house salad — fresh greens, boiled egg. Delicious gazpacho. The dish with the egg, bell peppers and rice — perfect to keep the meal healthy and light! And the best of all-house-made desserts — pears in wine… simply superb. Paella — as good as we’ve had in Spain.(We went here twice, and would have gladly eaten here daily had we have known the food was this good). This place could give any place in SF or NY a run for its money.

Eh … Price is a little expensive, and the food was okay. I had the tomato and fried egg dish, and I tried the fried potatoes with garlic aoili sauce. V The boyfriend had been meatball and that meat platter dish, and he loved it! While I was not a fan of my food, it did taste better when I ordered a side of rice.(Yes, I’m Asian.) The service was really good though. Our waiter was from Bulgaria, and you could ask his recommendations. Overall, if you are during for Spanish food, come here. If you’re not, go to Otter Pub down the street.

Wow! What a find in West Yellowstone. My wife and I were intrigued to find a tapas place in a very western American town. The reviews were good, so we decided to try it. We’ve eaten at tons of tapas places in Chicago, and we have to say this among the best we’ve had. We had to briefly wait for a table, but it was worth it. Great staff and the food was delicious with good portions. We’ve been to several tapas places that give you barely a mini-place. I guess the portion sizes reflect the«old west» locale. BTW, regarding the food prices, I think many people forget this is a resort town, not the suburbs. You should expect big city prices. Highly recommended!

It took us a little while to get seated and when we finally did it was only 10 minutes prior to the published closing time. I thought we’d be rushed or the food would be subpar, but I was quite wrong. The service was excellent, and the food was fabulous! We ordered a Calamari tapas dish and paella among other things, and I was really impressed with the flavors and quality. I’d highly recommend!

Been here many times now in the last few years. Everything has gotten better(if that was even possible). The menu has expanded a little, and during the mid season also open for lunch with a small(er) menu. This season the furnishings have been upgraded and a lounge area has been added for those having to wait. Waiting is not unlikely as the place is very popular and fakes no reservations. Still, by far, the best dining in West.

Just amazing to find in W Yellowstone. Would make it pretty much anywhere. Authentic spanish cuisine, we enjoyed the calamari, shrimp, steak(you cook at table!), gazpacho, meatballs, meat and cheese sampler and salmon. So Good! The sangria was also delicious. Enjoy!

Really great dishes. Price wasn’t too bad. not expecting to find a spanish restaurant at the gateway to yellowstone but glad I did. One issue– they advertise free wifi for customers on their Unilocal page. It was the major reason I stopped in order to catch up on work email etc… Once I sat down I found the wifi was password protected. I pointed it out to the waiter who said he couldn’t help me. I insisted, and he finally gave the password like he was doing me a huge favor. Don’t advertise something you don’t have.

We came here because of the reviews. The waitress was a little clueless about everything. It was freezing cold inside. Water for the tea was lukewarm. Olives were just ok. No better than the grocery store olive bar. The paella was a big disappointment and not worth the money. The shellfish didn’t taste fresh rice undercooked and the flavor just wasn’t good. Few options in the town but we won’t be back.

Delicious! Had hot and cold tapas which were identical to the tapas I had in Rota, Spain. This is a delicious change from usual fare here in Yellowstone.

Excellent! Great food! The restaurant was hot which made dinner a bit uncomfortable but the great quality of the food made up for that. Not a great place for picky kids they liked the shrimp without the red pepper. I was not happy we got charged for the bread since it came with three of our meals. This was a great place!

Incredible meal! The pisto manchego, a Spanish version of ratatouille(except no eggplant) was outstanding. We also had the chicken stew, which was nice too. And the bean salad is a really lovely starter. Great wine selection, and friendly/helpful staff. This place is a keeper.

The food is serviceable, but this restaurant is VERY overpriced. I would give it four stars if it were half the price. Café Madriz is a tapas restaurant in West Yellowstone. The food is decent — not fantastic, not bad either — but the sticker-shock when the bill arrives upsets the value equation. Fortunately, the service is excellent, and the ambience and décor are nice. This restaurant has great potential; but at the prices they’re charging, it’s just not where it should be, not in West Yellowstone, and not anywhere. We started with a selection of cured meats, which were delicious; and a glass of red sangria, which was divine. The selection of meats and cheeses has been cultivated with care, and it shows. In this vein, the restaurant exceeds all expectations. At this point, I was really excited! Unfortunately, the quality of the food descended thereafter, leading to disappointment after disappointment. Everything tasted reasonable, but nothing was prepared with great care. The portions are unfortunately quite excessive for tapas, and this generosity comes at the expense of quality and finesse. Considering we spent around $ 100 for two people, one would expect better. At these prices, I would expect the albondigas to be cooked perfectly and seasoned creatively with spices, but I received bland, slightly soft meatballs in a sauce that invoked spaghetti sauce from a jar. I would expect the papas fritas to be prepared with care, but instead I received a heaping plate of cafeteria-grade diced deep-fried potatoes accompanied by a run-of-the-mill aioli. I would expect the paella to have bold flavors and crisp textural contrasts, with a nice crust where the rice meets the pan. But while the chicken in the paella was serviceable, the seafood was mediocre, and the rice was mushy, with none of the textural and flavorful exuberance of a true Spanish paella. To be fair: Everything had its flavor, everything was seasoned, nothing was offensive or objectionable to taste, the staff were a delight, and at the end of the day, I enjoyed my meal. All the flavors on the table were simple, but undeniably present; not once did I have to reach for the salt shaker. But at $ 50 a person? At those rates, I expect more care, more finesse, more attention to detail, and more creativity and expression. At those prices, I’ll take a plate of a few beautiful papas fritas over the plateful of cafeteria potatoes I was service any day. There’s a lot going for this place, and I really would love to see this restaurant thrive. But the quality of the food simply fails to justify its high prices.

Moving from Seattle to Denver and am taking the scenic route through Yellowstone. Stopped to eat here, because of the good Unilocal reviews. I ordered the meatballs with potatoes, and a side salad. Everything was decent. Not sure if I will come back again. If I do I will try a different dish such as the chicken stew.

I stopped by here with my wife and her parents for dinner one night this summer while we were in the area visiting Yellowstone. We were looking for a place to eat on our Unilocal app and were surprised and pleased to see a Spanish tapas restaurant in West Yellowstone. After agreeing that it was the place for us we headed over and upon entering were told that it would be about a 45 minute wait for a table. Since there wasn’t really anywhere else in town that we wanted to try we decided to wait. For our dinner the table decided to split a tapas appetizer of 2 meats and 2 cheeses and then went with the paella for 4 for our entrée. Our appetizer came out first and was really pleasant. My favorite part of the meats and cheeses was a blue cheese whose name escapes my recollection. After we were done with our appetizer the paella came out to the table and my first thought was«That’s supposed to serve four of us»? In any case we all dug in and really ended up enjoying the seafood and rice. At this point I was contemplating how many stars I would give Café Madriz and decided on three since the amount of food compared to the price didn’t seem like very much. It was only whenever we received our bill that we realized they rang in the paella for 2 instead of the paella 4. At that point the size made a lot more sense and it made me a little sad that I wasn’t able to eat more of it. The bottom line for me is that I would stop by here again in the future. All of the food that we had was very tasty, I only wish that there would have been more of it!

We tried out Café Madriz a Spanish restaurant in West Yellowstone. It’s worth a try. You need reservations because they place is small & not many tables/chairs. They do have a few outdoor dining tables though. Sangria — we got a pitcher $ 23 that’s good for 4 – 6 people, I didn’t like it. Too much wine taste, not enough sugar, fruits, ice cubes. I like ChaChaCha’s version in SF. 2 cheeses &2 meats appetizer $ 18 — manchego is yum, Cabrales is a blue cheese I didn’t care that much for, chorizo was good, jamon serrano — yum. Came w/some red grapes. Bread — first basket is free — it was ok taste, but served warm. Tortilla whole $ 10 — huge tortilla, egg, potato dish w/a salad on the side. It was pretty tasty. Pollo con Pinnones $ 10 — 2 pieces of chicken in some sauce. Liked it ok. Medium size portion. Calamares en salsa picante $ 10 — lots of calamari w/a scoop of rice. It was kinda spicy. Liked it. Large portion. Total before tip $ 73.64. We did order a lot of food, no leftovers. One unisex bathroom available left rear.
