The Burger Card brought us here. Darn Burger Card! We’d not eaten at this place since well before they changed their name. I’d had the worst pot pie in my life here, so there was no reason to darken the doorstep again. Well, we’re gluttons for punishment and good food, so there we were, giving it another chance. I will be honest and say that I don’t remember what we ordered. My son and I took most of our food home, which promptly made its way into the trash. The Man ate his food, begrudgingly. I do recall ordering onion rings as an appetizer. They were unseasoned and flavorless. You HAD to have ketchup to get one down. There were more than there should have been on the plate taken away by the staff. So, another experience we won’t repeat.

Subpar food, standard service, ambiance of a once lovely 70’s era supper club gone to Sysco hell.

Good steak. Good service. Kinda small portions for my birthday meal, but it was free so one cant really complain. Plus you get dessert. My steak was perfect medium rare and juicy. Yum!

Despite my burger being cooked as requested to medium, it was still dense and dry. They’re either packing the patties too tight or using very lean ground beef. The bacon was good though. The Reuben? I should have read the menu more carefully– I never expected it to be an open-faced sandwich. It’s an odd idea that doesn’t work at all… apparently they’re still catering to their elderly clients by cutting back on the bread. The potatoes au gratin recipe they brag about from 1933 should have stayed in 1933– I literally could not tell them apart from the boxed ones I had a few days ago.

Ugh. Karaōke. Nothing like trying to eat a peaceful meal with literal caterwauling blasting out of a speaker directly over your head. This particular crowd loved mangling johnny cash and hall & oates. There was also a lackluster, drunken(but real) karaōke proposal. It was the height of cheese and lack of proposal creativity. The only thing that made it bearable was every time someone sang out of key, Hotdish would say very quietly, «Ladies and gentlemen, Marianne Faithful!» which would make me laugh. We had the steak and lobster special. The lobster was rubber, but i expect nothing less in Minnesota. The steak was surprisingly decent. The food really wasn’t bad; it’s the extremely loud karaōke that knocks 2 stars off. The service was middling. Our server seemed irritated and didn’t smile once, but i would be irritated too if i had to stay until close listening to ritualized drunk singing. At least *she* got paid to be there.

Four of us stopped mid-afternoon for a(take your pick) early dinner or late lunch. I grew up with the Cherokee. I’ve been there many times and always enjoy it, but I have noticed changes over the years. The food and the service are still quite good generally, but prices are up and the food isn’t what it once was. It’s still in my top picks of local places, but a few years ago I would have given it 5 stars easily. On this occasion there was only one waitress, and she was good and very pleasant but being pushed pretty hard. She definitely could have used some help. We had onion rings. They were good, but a bit bland. My partner and I each had the special, an 8-oz sirloin with salad and potatoes for $ 11. The steaks were done as ordered and tasted good, but I much prefer their 5-oz steak sandwich for $ 12. The two teenage boys with us ordered burgers with fries, and were very satisfied. I’m honestly puzzled by some of the other reviews here. If you want heavily seasoned steak, this isn’t the place. This is a traditional American steakhouse. Part of the problem may be that meat quality has gone down so much in recent years, and choice beef has become astronomically expensive. The beef being sold today is overall much leaner than in the past, and this hurts both the flavor and tenderness. If you think steak doesn’t taste nearly as good as it did 30 years ago, you’re absolutely right. It doesn’t. Neither does ham or chicken. And certainly many restaurants are using a lot more seasoning partially in response to this trend. Also, I’ve heard restaurant owners complain that the middle class – the traditional target market for places like the Cherokee – is a dying breed. I’m not a social scientist, but that’s certainly my perception. I’ll give the owners of the Cherokee kudos just for staying alive in a changing landscape where others have not. I still like this place a lot, and will certainly go back. It’s reasonably casual, but very nice and comfortable. I’ve had nothing but good meals here, and the staff is always exceedingly friendly. I may stay away from the specials, though, and stick with regular menu.

We had another birthday dinner at Cheroke Tavern last night that was so great. I had the Coconut Shrimp and it was SO amazing! The shrimp were huge and the batter tasted delicious. My brother’s steak was perfectly cooked and so tender even though it was lean. Lots od «blue hairs» in here, but the food and service are terrific.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary here a few weeks ago. We were so surprised at the royal treatment that they gave us. Our waitress Jamie was so pleasant and the food was great. They brought us an appetizer before dinner and some cake after dinner, it was a wonderful dinner for such a special occasion. We will make a point of going back again even though we don’t live in St Paul any longer.

I have been here twice recently and received an average burger and the prime rib another time. The prime rib looked like a roast as it was 4 inches thick and full of unrendered fat. Both times I visited the food did not come out for an hour. Skip this place and go to their other restaurant.

They give away a Steak for your Birthday, but it’s not worth it. We tried it three years in a row and gave up on it. Sounds like a good deal but we were disappointed every time.

I don’t get the 4 stars. For what they charge, this place sucks! They have good fries, onion rings, and ribs, but their steak is not good. Very tough and flavorless. We tried the sirloin, New York Strip, and the Prime Rib. All were low quality.

I love this place, I am biased, I grew up going here. The food is outstanding, though not always what you expect doesn’t mean its not great. An example would be the pizza, its greasy and cheesy and make a real Italian mad, but for me its amazing comfort food that goes so well with the best craft beer or just a $ 2 Hamm’s. This is the kind of place that the suburban and even the newer bars and grills aspire to become. The kind of place I can take my Grandma out to dinner at, and the kind I can go watch the game and drink all day. This restaurant is apart of the community, and having grown up off of HWY13, I am certainly biased, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have a point.

First time visiting this place. Great selection of craft beers. Nice happy medium between fancy and«townie» atmosphere. The food was really good! I had the steak sandwich(technically just a small sirloin on crispy and chewy garlic toast… but really if the steak is good, that’s all you need). Husband got the Reuben, per usual. He proclaimed it tasty. This is a joint I would go out of my way to visit again.

After driving by frequently, a staff member and I decided to give Cherokee a try. We went around 12pm on a weekday and it was pretty quiet. We were seated immediately in a booth. There were plenty of options on the menu — and everything was very reasonably priced. We ordered the brisket sandwich and the bacon cheeseburger. My colleague loved her brisket and ate it all. I, for the most part, enjoyed my meal. The french fries were delicious, but the burger was just ok. There was plenty of bacon and cheese, but the burger was kind of plain(and dry) and didn’t seem to have a lot of seasoning. I was a little disappointed that the bun they served with it was so toasted it was almost rock hard in some parts(which I just broke off). Overall it’s a good lunch spot and we’ll be back to try something else.

We had ribs & rings and mango salsa, guacamole and chips. Everything was delicious! It was a slow happy hour, but some regulars were quite loud, which was a little obnoxious but it did simmer down after a while. The $ 2 drinks were nice. Parking is in the back off Annapolis with a rear entrance… Not a lot of spots though. The service was very attentive.

Local restaurant in West St. Paul. My Grandma is a fan of this place so when we were visiting we all went and had a nice dinner. Camille, Me, my mom and my grandma. Ladies night out. Hahaha. The salads were plentiful and tasty and service we decent. Not a bad spot in West St. Paul!

I haven’t been to the sirloin room since I was a kid and came for my granny’s birthday, but my good buddy and her fiancé live right down the street and this is clearly THEIR place. They know the regulars(and ARE the regulars), the karaōke jockey adores them and they got hugs and high fives upon entering the bar. It was absurd, in the best way. I was there for a karaōke birthday on Friday, and we saaaaang it up. That is, after a hopeful contestant filmed his audition tape for The Voice. That happened. It really happened. While we were waiting for the filming to end and the party to start, my friends and I grabbed some beers and buffalo wings and cheese fries. The food is simple bar fare, probably more around three stars. The beer selection is actually great though, very craft-centric with some local stuff(hello Fulton and Surly) and some interesting non-local breweries too. It wasn’t too busy, so everybody seemed to get a chance to sing easily. The song books aren’t the most organized binders in the land, but they do have most of the big hits! Note to the guy that«sang» Down With The Sickness by Disturbed: Pick a new song, I BEGOFYOU.
