It wasn’t too bad. An after drinking craving brought us here. They were open until 11pm and was nearby so we called in and got to-go. I’d say the taste is alright, nothing remarkable but still good. I saw that they had lunch specials for under 5 so we will probably check this place out again. The guy was nice despite me not understanding him on the phone.

I live within walking distance so I’ve always gone here. This past time I got hung up on twice because«she didn’t understand me.» I then arrived and my order was wrong and the man in the back was yelling at me in whatever language they speak and the woman said«he said he took the order right.» They had already charged my card and gave me a side my white rice to make up for it. This was not even close to what needed to be done. Very disappointing.

Went there twice for take-out. Not sure why I stopped the second time other than it’s close to home and it’s clean. You can eat there but I doubt you would want to. No décor to speak of. Service at the counter is polite and prompt. Then again I don’t believe I’ve ever encountered a rude Chinese woman. The food isn’t bad but isn’t remarkable either. You get more rice and less entrée at Hot Wok compared to many other local Chinese restaurants and the chicken pieces in the General Tso’s chicken are popcorn-sized. Prices aren’t high but overall I would rate Hot Wok average at best. Cleanliness saves them. If it were more expensive or not so clean I’d tell you to stay away. It seems to me some of the better Chinese takeout places are in older low rent locations, not a new plaza with high rent. I think that theory applies here. I’d give them two and a half stars but I can’t so they get two.

Living in East Aurora, our Chinese food options are minimal. I found this place on Unilocal searching near my location and the decent reviews gave me enough confidence to give it a try. I was a little freaked out when I arrived here because the exterior lights were off, and no one was in the restaurant save for the two employees. They have some tables and chairs but its not really a place to sit and dine in. Seems like 90% of their business is takeout. They have all the normal American Chinese food options here. We ordered sweet and sour chicken, mongolian beef, general tsao’s chicken, and some egg rolls. Everything was great. It’s definitely on the list for future take out Chinese for us. If you can look past the strip mall setting, and are interested in takeout only, this is a viable option.

Cheap lunch specials… I got sweet and sour chicken with veggie fried rice for $ 3.99 — egg roll added for .80…The chicken was ok… It was crispy, and they give you a large container of sweet and sour sauce for dipping… Sauce was thick… The rice was ok… The eggroll was definitely the frozen variety, and pretty on the bland side… They did have some chinese cayenne hot sauce in packets… I put that on my rice to make lunch a little more exciting… GF got the shrimp in lobster sauce… That came with rice as well, and was $ 3.99 also… She said it wasn’t like any lobster sauce she had ever seen… It was a white sauce, and she said it didn’t really taste like lobster… It wasn’t bad just a little odd…

Highly recommend. Much better than other chinese food establishments in the area. The dumplings were fantastic! My wife is a dumpling snob and she approved.

I am not a fan of Chinese cuisine. I much prefer the lighter tastes of Thai and Vietnamese. My kid, well, she prefers everything that I don’t. Which means Chinese on a regular basis. This place — previous name was Tai Pei — is good! For real. What I have had has been been lovely veggie spring rolls which were nicely packed and tastefully put together. The Won Ton soup is decent, as were the steamed dumplings. I can’t find a complaint among the many dishes that were orderred so my suggestion is to try this place. The overly cloying taste of soy sauce is not noticible in the food. One thing missing — SCALLIONPANCAKES! I make these when scallions are in season however when I am lazy I rely upon a good Chinese restaurant to offer up the goods. Chinese is good and it’s most unfortunate that I cannot detect the differences of Szechuan, Hunan or Cantonese.

I’ve never bothered to write reviews on Unilocal, but when I couldn’t find this place listed at all, I knew I needed to change that! A friend of mine and I stopped in here one evening, on a whim, and almost thought it was closed. The place was deserted and quiet. As we approached the door, we could see most of the tables and chair stacked up and cleared away, and joked that maybe we were about to eat some awful food. Little did we know what was in store for us! As soon as we approached the counter we were greeted cheerfully and our order was taken. I ordered Beef & Broccoli and my buddy went with Sesame Chicken. Our food was ready and brought out to us in what seemed like a matter of minutes. We knew we had found a great place when we saw the portion sizes and noticed how fresh everything looked. As we dined, we also both observed that the sauces did not seem watered down or runny – they were thick and full of flavor. My Beef & Broccoli had what seemed like fairly fresh broccoli and carrots in it, and the beef had an excellent texture — not tough or chewy or anything. When we were finished eating, we were both completely satisfied and completely shocked at how great this random Chinese restaurant was that we’d discovered. This place immediately earned a spot in my top 3 favorite Chinese places, along with Ling Ling’s in Kenmore and Red Pepper in Amherst. Can’t wait to go back!
