I have found a new favorite Mexican eatery just perfect for a hot Sacramento evening. The best ice cold beer over ice with salt and lime and the very best shrimp ceviche. Just like Baja, served with mayo on a crisp tostada and all the goodies Moist tender shrimp, cucumber, onion, tomato… add tapatio and you are back in Bahia de los angeles. Just missing the whales. Best service, sweet servers and counter persons. They will prepare your food and beer just as you like.

I always love the Molcajete here. I have tried it at other restaurants and it’s never as good as La Favorita. I didn’t think it could get any better but today they topped themselves! It had just a little added spice(not sure what) that made it even better than normal. So good! And the new thick corn tortillas are out of this world! I hope they keep them! It’s actually really big inside. Order at the counter, then head to the salsa bar, which is actually pretty good! The salsa bar has warm chips, chilies, radishes, limes, various salsas(all with good flavors). Tacos were $ 2 each, and they came with 2 tortillas. I loved the sauce on the carne asada. The al pastor and carnitas both had a nice char on them, and the cumin flavor on the al pastor was good(not as sweet as the typical one). Parking was easy, and service was nice. I’m glad we ended up here!

My wife and I love this place. Open late, great food, fair prices. I recommend the chicken super nacho and don’t forget to hit up the salsa bar.

This is just for the customer service. I agree with the other reviewer about the girl at the counter taking the order. I usually don’t expect much. I pay, you give me my change, and we move along. But in our brief encounter she was able to be beyond rude. I ordered 3 carnitas tacos and then 1 al pastor taco. She corrected me and said«sooo 4…». I took no notice of it and ordered the rest of my food. I wanted two beans and rice side and she charged me for 3. I told her I only wanted 2. She said something I did not understand. Still confused as ever I asked for clarification. She repeated the same thing and no repeating the same statement with a condescending smirk does not make the customer understand. At this point she wasn’t just trying to clarify but wanting to argue with me. Basically I would still be standing there and this would go on indefinitely if her co worker had not stand in to explain. Then I asked for a bag to carry the chips out and she wouldn’t give it to me telling me there are trays. I preferred the bag and how about you just do your job. Give me the bag and save the judgement. Also they charge 50 cents for card. The manager or the boss. He was nice. All in all GO to the one on Florin Road. They are much more polite. I would be less offended if they had just took my money and ran instead of dealing with this rude bullcrap

I absolutely love this place! I work in West Sacramento and have had many other Mexican food places that are good but do not encompass the overall experience one should have at a Mexican food eatery. They take your order and by the time you are done filling up your salsa, the food is usually delivered to your table. The quality of the food is excellent and probably the freshest in town. I have not had a dish that I did not like from here. The customer service is excellent, the servers are prompt and the cashiers are nice to deal with. I recommend this place for anyone who is looking around West Sacramento for Mexican Food. The best.

No sure what Spanish is for omnimnom, but I wish I knew! By far the best taqueria in West Sac, PLUS there’s a lot of clean and cozy tables to be had, AND an awesome salsa bar! Prices are similar to other taquerias, but the quality is much, much better! ¡Todos los gentes saben que La Favorita es el mejor!

After going to a CA Tuned car show I ended up at La Favorita Taqueria right off Highway 80 headed back to San Francisco. Located in a strip mall in West Sacramento, I would have never found this place if not for Unilocal.I was starving and I was not going to eat at Carl’s Jr or a fast food place. I can’t believe how many customers were eating at this time, it was packed for a Saturday afternoon. This taqueria features some great tacos, burritos, tortas and other mexican dishes all reasonably priced. I had a three taco plate with rice and beans(2 carna asada and the grilled chicken). The food was very flavorful. If I’m ever going back to San Francisco I’ll be sure to stop at this Taqueria.

My sister was told to hit this place up from one of her patients. I was a little skeptical because this is a chain, and I usually don’t do chains when I’m looking for authentic. I decided to give La Favorita a shot, but from now on, I’m trusting my first instinct. Sacramento is known to have some pretty darn good Mexican restaurants, so I thought that even though it’s a chain, it should be pretty good. I ordered a fish taco and chile relleno. My sister got the enchillada and our friend got the Pozole. First, the prices were ehh. Look to spend about $ 10 per plate. Second, the food was ehh. I DID love the chips & salsa bar though(+1). That was pretty abundant. Side note: the Pozole took forever to come out. My sister and I had already finished our food. It was huge though. Overall, if I’m in sac again, I probably will Unilocal another restaurant for my Mexican fix.

UPDATE: Horrible Customer Service by the Mexican girl working the counter today(Sunday, Jan. 17th) I ordered Super Nachos advertised on their menu for $ 5.75 and the girl rang it up as $ 7.75, so I asked her if she made a mistake. She says, «oh, we changed our prices.» I asked her, «don’t u have to charge what’s being advertised?» And pointed to the sign above her. She said, «Do you want the Super Nachos or not?!» So she just earned this review. To the management’s credit, I called & spoke to «Pedro» and he apologized & said that what she did was really bad & offered to comp my lunch next time I come back. — — — — — — — — — — — — - It’s Lit! The best taqueria so far. Minus one star cuz service is not all that great, but this is probably the best Mexican food in town. Pros: — Food is authentic & delicious — Salsa bar is legit! — Carnitas flavor & texture is on point! — really good Pozole here — Micheladas are legit! Cons: — Prices a bit high — Service is ok(worse at other locations) — Chips are too greasy Overall, if I want some bangin Mexican food be it tacos, pozole, tres mares, etc. this is the place!

My parents and I decided to give this place a shot, since we are Mexican, we KNOW our Mexican food and do not settle for mediocre restaurants that like to call themselves Mexican. There was a line when we first walked in so I took it as a good sign. Also I saw this lady on the side of the kitchen(towards the back, where there is additional seating) making tortillas a mano(which means handmade) so I was instantly excited. It turns out however, that if you want your tacos with handmade tortillas you have to ask for them while you are ordering or else you will get regular packaged tortillas. PLEASEDOYOURSELF A FAVORANDASKFORHANDMADETORTILLASFORYOURTACOS it makes the world of the difference. My mother, being an avid handmade tortilla maker did tell me that the handmade tortillas seemed to not have enough salt and were a little to thin(this has to do with the preparation of the masa) so they weren’t as satisfying but if you know nothing about handmade tortillas you will be fine. The reason I gave this place 3 stars is because the meat was just okay. I usually start with plain Asada because it’s hard to mess that up but if its not Good then their other meat choices are probably just okay as well. Nothing scientific just my own experience. Their service was good and the place was pretty clean which are 2 very positive things in my opinion. Will we be returning? probably not but it was OKAY.

I went to this place today for the first time. The food did taste good however they flat out added a 50 cent tip onto my bill which I noticed after I paid! When I asked the guy who brought us our food if there is always a 50 cent charge he said no and that if I didn’t say I wanted to tip then I shouln’t have been charged. I told the guy I wasn’t going to let it ruin my day and wait for a manager but he needs to say something because that is illegal. I doubt he’ll say anything he’s probably in on it too. Charging each customer 50 cents can add up. I went at 12:43pm today so I’m hoping an employee or the employer is reading this and researches which cashiers were working at that time today. I will NOT be going back. No a/c either on an 88 degree day with doors wide open.

Good tacos. Huge, delicious burritos. Prices were SLIGHTLY higher than what I’m used to. It was interesting to watch them put my burrito inside some steamer/cooker for about a minute. Not sure if that’s considered good or bad. The salsa bar was adequate. I liked that they had what looked like grilled serrano peppers. No complaints. I’d return.

I’m sad. I’m literally sitting in front of this place feeling not only ripped off but taken advantage of. The food is ok. If you call some watery guacamole and yellow sour cream good? Well, hey this is your spot. First off, I asked the gentlemen(some really old man) what he recommends and he says mojarras, caldo de pescado and I’m like hmm okay I’ll take a mojarra(fried fish) then he says you want some beer? This was when I realized he was recommending the most expensive items on the menu. So I tell him I wanted the enchiladas instead. He charges me for three but convinces me that my drink and two enchiladas are more expensive than the mojarra. I’m like what? So I hand him a $ 20 and he gives me back $ 6.25! Wtf? I tell him and he starts speaking spanish like yeah instead of charging u for the mojarra I charged u for the enchiladas… I’m like whatever not about to argue. I smiled and played stupid. So here comes my food. i had not ate all day and its now 4pm so anything would taste about right. yet the more I bit into it the sadder I got. I just threw it away. Thanks but nooooo thanks! I’ve had waaaaaay better! !

My hopes in searching for a good taqueria in the Sacramento area were dashed until I heard about this place. Hoping for better luck, I decided to venture out and make a trip today. Great layout of the restaurant, was a bit hard to find being buried behind the troves of other stores but ample parking. Clean on the inside and really loved the chairs. The menu was hanging brightly from the front of the store in a nice and large font that was easy to read. So far, so good. Ordered a Super Burrito with chicken($ 6.75) and a carne asada taco($ 1.80), pretty reasonable so far. Took my number and went to go stock up on chips and salsa. While the pico de gallo was quite good, the other hotter salsas and the green salsa felt a bit too much on the mild end. Now I’m not asking to be smacked in the tongue with every bite of salsa but I expect that if it’s supposed to be a spicier salsa, then you should taste the spice. ANYWAYS back to the food. Service was excellent and my food came out in roughly 5 minutes by which I was impressed. Decided to start with the taco: bit of green salsa and some lime. The meat was alright but not my favorite, had a bit of a charred taste to it. I had lowered my bar slightly before digging into my burrito. The burrito was quite unpleasant however. There was WAY too much salt that had been added and sparse flavor. Normally I like my food a bit salty but this was just way too much even for me. It may sound a bit picky but I like when the cheese in my burritos is a bit more on the melted end. Overall the major complaint was a general lack of flavor which could have been added in lieu of salt. Unfortunately, my quest for a taqueria in this area has still turned up dry. Guess I“ll have to make that trip down to Southern California after all if I’m looking for a good taqueria experience.
