Pretty solid Lebanese/Mediterranean-mart in the heart of West Roxbury. Has awesome fresh bread and specialty ingredients. They aren’t really a bargain outside of that spectrum, i.e. average to overpriced on produce. Dudes are nice. Spinach pie thingies are yummy. Stop in sometime!

I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this place! An incredible, authentic Arab market with fresh produce and all your favorite delacicies from all over the Middle East. Delicious manakesh, sfiha and sabanek, good argile, and all the spices you need! This place is a MUST if you’re looking for the best of the Middle East!

I love this place! Best hummous ever! I crave it. If you like falafel, get the falafel & hummous wrap — yummm! I pop in often since I live nearby and they are sweet. I sort of feel like they warmed up to me because I always come back. Not that they weren’t friendly, but now it feels more welcoming. Good little produce section. Good selection of dry goods — beans, lentils, etc., and spices. If you need a unique spice, it is worth asking as they may have it. The only bummer is that they are closed on Mondays, which is usually my day off. :)

Best zaatar manakish in Massachusetts and I’ve had many! The makanik(sausage) are also delicious; perfect seasoning and not too fatty. Very friendly staff.

Delicious and cheap falafel sandwiches! The staff are all super friendly too. I never would’ve thought to get sandwiches here, since it’s just a little convenience store/market that most people would probably overlook. Thank goodness for Unilocal.Glad I discovered this place! It’s right down the street from where I work, so it’s convenient for me to come during my lunch breaks.

a fantastic, family-owned, middle eastern grocery store, that’s been in the neighborhood for more than a decade. I’ve brought trays of their baklava to many events over the years, and am always told it’s the best anyone’s ever had.

This is a little far from me but my friend brought me here since it was on our way home from somewhere. I was starving and I got the Lamb Schwarma… sooooo good. Love the pickles in it and the lamb was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The syrian bread/pita. whatever it was wrapped in was so soft and fluffy. Service is also great. Got some goods to go which included: meat pie, spinach and feta pie, cheese boat. All delicious. They have a great selection of everything from cheese to nuts to olives. And they also sell Kinder chocolate :)

Bay Sweets is a wonderful place. The owners are always helpful and the groceries, savories, sweets and all the rest(hummos, baba ganoush, tabouleh etc.) are great. I drive 20 miles to «load» up.

«Can I have a sandwich?» «Sure, what would you like?» «Well, I don’t know what I want.» «You can tell me a number.» «I don’t know because I want a bit of everything. I’m really very hungry.» The man behind the counter is «Steve,» or «just Steve» as he told me. He chuckled at my frankness for needing falafel, hummous, and salad with dressing in a blissful wrap. Before my senses registered even the taste, texture, and aromas, I knew in a microsecond that this was absolutely the best sandwich on earth. This is what the gods eat, and this would become my «fix». I had found it. Finally. So many flavorful spices in the rich and creamy falafel. The tangy dressing had a kick, while the crunchy pickled veggies put a giant grin on my face. And man oh man, the bread was scrumptiously chewy and soft. I noticed every single customer was grabbing packets and packets of pita bread, which came in over 10 varieties of textures and sizes. I seemed to be witnessing preparation for a long hold up in a celler in the wake of a natural disaster. I asked Steve how come, and he responded matter of fact, «Because we’re the best.» I think I may need to revise my answer to Unilocal’s Last Meal on Earth.

I am middle eastern(half Lebanese, half Armenian) and I go here for my regular supplies to cook, but I also go here for the fataya(meet and spinach pies). And the wife also makes this spinach feta ‘boat’(not sure what else to call it, no special name cause it is her thing) — so good. Oh and for Christmas I treated myself and got a pistachio ma’mool made fresh by the wife(husband and wife owners) and that was absolutely delicious! Haven’t had it that good in years — since a friend’s grandmother used to make it. The husband and wife are both great cooks.

I can’t say enough good things about bay sweets. Whenever I am in the West Roxbury area I make sure to stop by and stock up. I live off off of their«sandwiches». I have no idea what they are actually called, but it is their fresh bread filled with yummy goodness. You can get it filled with ground meat(my utter absolute favorite!), with za’atar or cheese. Perfect. As well, they were there for me when my BF bet me that I couldn’t make stuffed grape leaves better than, or as well as his mother! They had all the necessary ingredients, and they were delish. Bay Sweets is totally worth going out of your way.

Yummy!!! Great hummus and soft pita. Its a very non assuming place with very good food. Its all take away as it is more like a grocery store. They keep fresh hummus, falafel, other baked goodies and sweets. Love their hummus, pita and pistachio sweet treats! I am now a regular!

I wish we have Bay Sweets in Los Angeles where I’m from. While you can get certain grocery items here, the main reason one would come here are the prepared food. The food is way better than any Arabic market that I’ve been too. They even have an olive section that has about 7 or 8 different kinds. The baqlawa here is finger-licking good. The kind of quality that you can only find at certain restaurants. I always find the Lebanese baqlawa to be more nutty and richer than the Persian baklava(which we have a bunch in LA). The falafels are heavenly as well and would make for a good falafel wrap(all ingredients are, of course, can be found in the store). I remember asking about some pastry and wanting to try it out. At the checkout register, the lady told me «…i’ll give this to you for free.» What a great treat it was. I don’t really know the name of the dessert but it looked like baqlawa but not soaked in honey and the filling was not nutty. The people here are nice and friendly, definitely a gem in this town.

I love this little shop! They have the most incredible savory baked goods. Meat pies, Spinach pies, cheese boats, veggie pizzas, za’atar bread. Sublime! Much of this is due to the bread. I have no clue how they make their bread so chewy and flavourful. It is an awesome place to pick up food to serve as hors d’ouvres. I often get a big bag of cheese boats and warm them and serve them at parties. Always a huge hit. The people who run the shop are also so nice and friendly. I am embarrassed that I don’t know their names. Once I was jogging by and decided to grab a veggie pizza for lunch and didn’t have enough cash on me. The lady behind the counter was so gracious and sweet telling me not to worry about it. So obviously I come here 90% of the time for their bakery but the shop is jam packed with great middle eastern/Lebanese sundries. Cases of cheese, labneh, vats of olives etc. It is definitely worth a visit!

Fresh Lebanese Bread — about 7 types of cured olives in vats. Kibbieh(spelling) chopped meat fresh with spices — so you can make your own kabobs. An on site dessert maker — so many treats — nougat/flaky with pistachio etc… Turkish delight. Feta /dry couscous. Regular clientele get in and get out — the owner will also do custom orders. The cutest striped red awning that seems more appropriate for a five and dime or soda shop — I like this.
