«Overpriced & Unwelcoming atmosphere… not much more to say honestly» were my original(and clearly understated) thoughts on Bella Jules. After receiving a comment from the owner on my review just hours after it was posted, I decided it best to come back and re-think my original statement. «Our prices are standard for the lines carried in the boutique and are comparable to the prices online elsewhere for the same items. We do our best to help everyone who comes into the boutique.» — Bella Jules Let’s tackle the first half of that rebuttal shall we? Prices– Fair enough, I am no expert in fashion pricing, nor owning a «boutique» so I will gracefully withdraw the word«overpriced» from my statement. In its place I will put the word«PRICY». When shopping I prefer not to spend 40+ on a tee shirt but then again maybe that is the reasonable shopper within me. Then again what is money anyway? Just your hard earned sweat, tears, and blood mixed with cotton and linen fibers. On to the second, and in my PERSONALOPINION, the more disturbing half of the shop owners comment dealing with customer service or the use of my word«unwelcoming” — Now I am no rocket scientist here, but I feel something more along the lines of, «I’m sorry to hear you felt unwelcome in our store. We do our best to help everyone who comes into the boutique but perhaps we were having an off day? I’d encourage you to give us a second chance and I promise we won’t let you down»(yada yada you get the point) would have been a better, nay more professional response? ??? But maybe that’s just me. Please raise your hand if you have been personally victimized by Regina George(slowly raises hand…) Yes. I do think that applies here as I make my last and final adjustment before I lay this to rest — my original review had a dwindling two stars… one that represented the battle wounds I came out with and a second that represented hope for a possible future. I happen to believe in giving everything in life 3 chances. I have been to this store twice(felt unwelcome both times) and now have reached my wits end with the unapologetic(perhaps borderline rude or snide?) response from the stores owner… thus ripping dwindling star #2 from the Unilocal skies. As I have stressed before(by my use of capital letters) these are my personal opinions. Go ahead and take them with a grain of salt. I can only hope that if you decide to step foot within those doors that you have a much better experience then I felt I had.

The good news is BCBG. And French Connection. And Ella Moss, Mac & Jac, and a purple studded bag by who knows who, all inside of a precious West Reading townhouse, rooms in tact. The bad news is that it felt like shopping a hipster yard sale, and not in a good way. Oh, and I saw bell sleeves. In red. Owner Juli was there, sniffling, and not eager to talk to me, despite my praise for her enterprising little business. And it’s not like she introduced herself. I found her name on the website, which is a little overzealous about her allegedly ultra-chic style.
