Just visted on June 22nd. Totally disappointed. They tried to serve us old foul smelling shrimp. We immediately sent it back from the mere smell. The chicken wasn’t fresh at all. It was extremely hard to eat without dousing the chicken in sauce. I had high hopes. We were celebrating my Mom’s birthday. The menu was full of unhealthy options as well. I was unable to find something healthy on the menu. First and last time there…

The BBQ, is great, ribs are meaty and tender, sausage has great flavors. Beers are ice cold. Place is large but can get packed in a hurry. Music is good, service is good and attentive. Enjoy going back often. Looking forward to trying othr foods here.

I have been to this joint at least 6 times since it opened years ago. Only once were my short ribs cooked that day(Friday), yes it was the only time that they were good. The rest of the time, I have gotten only lukewarm left over BBQ meats that were unevenly microwaved and dried. The mac and cheese is excellent though, but I come here for BBQ. It is expensive to pay for awful leftovers even if you use a groupon which averages $ 18+tax + tips on value which equals $ 26 per person not counting the drinks. The last time I went in May, the waiter and bus boy who acted like an excon were arguing right in front of my table, over whose job it was to clean up our table; was not pleasant. This place is only a place for drinks for locals.

I love the happy hour options this place has to offer and the different sauces that are brought to the table. I’m not sure if I would dine here unless it was happy hour being that the food can get expensive for the type of place that it is. The one bartender that works there(not sure what her name is but she is a cute stylish black girl) is awesome! She even remembered my husband, baby, and I and It was only our second time there. We will definitely return.

This restaurant is a great place for live music and good food. It’s going up on a Tuesday: there’s live country music. We got baby back ribs, collard greens, and fries. Only place in the oranges that hits the theme of southern comfort food exactly.

Absolutely the best Bar b Que and American fare in the area !!! From Calamari(ok not so American but delicious) to the Flintstone sized ribs … Consistently great food and warm lively atmosphere! I’m not much of a drinker, however my liquid lunch friends are more than satisfied. Paint Nights are also a blast!

I came here because my cousin was having a birthday party. Whenever I go to a barbecue spot I always have to test out the ribs and see how good they are good ribs don’t need any barbecue sauce. I ordered the st. Louis half rack and fries and my drink was Ciroc punch. I will say that the ribs were pretty decent to be up north. Usually when I go to a barbecue spot in the Northeast I am disappointed butt they seem to be a few grades above the norm. They are going to know that I would return to the restaurant and order them again. Overall I said we had a great night the band was on fire Valerie Adams and the dimensions nice to see them at Delta’s in New Brunswick they never fail to entertain. Looks like a pretty cool spot to hang out in the only bad thing was the drinks were that strong. I will hit them up again.

I’ve gone here a couple of times. They have reasonably priced drinks, the bartenders are cool, and the crowd are always a good bunch of folk. But the real reason I bothered to Unilocal them is their Caesar salad. As is the case for most vegetarians, I’ve accustomed my palate to bland food and don’t expect an explosion of flavor. But that salad was super awesome. They use a homemade dressing and mere words cannot describe how delicious it is. When I tasted it I finally understood how those people on the York Peppermint Patty commercials felt when they«got the sensation.» And the croutons they use are the good ones where you can actually poke them with a fork instead of having to scoop them up. People don’t consider how important that is, but it really is an awesome thing.

Food was delicious and very tasty. Had the St Luis ribs and the beef brisket. Mac & cheese can be compared to some of the best. Used a Groupon without any issues. The waitress was very knowledgable and there was live music. Great night, very pleased and would deffinetly return to eat more. Had plenty to take home also.

We just moved nearby and left an area of NYC with 3 really great local non-chain BBQ restaurants within walking distance, so we had some pretty high standards. I must say, I am shocked by the bad reviews. I’ve been twice now, both times taking friends, around 6pm on a Friday and 4ish on a Sunday. Not only was the food truly delicious but all 4(one person was in training) of the people that waited on us were FANTASTIC. Whatever reviews say they had bad service, those people must be gone or have since changed, because we felt so incredibly taken care of! Never empty water glasses or sodas, professional and friendly, food came out fast. My toddler even got cranky after sitting down on our 2nd visit and someone(the Owner?) swooped in with a warm corn bread muffin just for her. Fantastic. Among all of us we tried: ribs, pulled chicken, pulled pork sandwich, mac and cheese(surprisingly creamy! really good), baked beans, collards(SOGOOD, not mushy like most places), wedge salad(needs a little more bacon), SuZyQue’s fries appetizer(yum, a little small though), spinach dip(not bad, but not the best), brownie dessert and cheesecake explosion dessert(both delicious and sinful) and corn bread(need to be a little more dense, more butter too, but not terrible.) All of the meat had a delicious smoked flavor that you notice right away. We didn’t do drinks yet, but will next time. I’m sure we will have a date night here when we can get a babysitter and definitely want to come back for the brunch deal!

I don’t know how to describe this place, but I’ll try!!! The BBQ here is pretty mediocre. I ordered the sample platter and all their meat samples were dry or flavorless! Their home made BBQ sauces were all watered down, not thick like your usual bottled BBQ sauces. I also ordered the cornbread…, horrible. They were dry, crumby, flavorless hockey pucks!!! I’ve had better tasting cornbread from Boston Market and Ikea!(Yes, Ikea the furniture store!) About the only decent plate I had was their Cesar Salad. I will definitely not be returning…, for the food. They also have a bar and live bands from Thursday thru(I believe) Sunday, so I may try them back to enjoy a few performing bands enjoying a few brews.

Avoid the terrible ribs;dry flavorless meat inside, disgusting burnt rub on outside. The ribs had no fat content, probably why they were so dry or they were just way overcooked basically burnt. Also I’m pretty sure they forgot to include any sauce since i got takeout. The sides like the mac and cheese, mashed potatoes were actually pretty good, but the sides came in such small portions. The chicken and pulled pork from the bbq combo was at least edible. This place is what you would expect from bar food. Good tasting chicken wings, side dishes, and appetizers, but don’t go here for the bbq!

The food is good whenever I come but the quality of service may vary according to how busy they are. Can’t go wrong with the bbq choices, but I’m not personally familiar with other menu options. It’s a cool late night spot to sit at the bar or hear music on the weekends. There are some weekday specials as well, such as live music, karaōke, etc. Everyone usually gets the Mac and cheese as a side, and the creamed spinach is good too. A word of caution, the mashed sweet potatoes are plain so don’t expect much unless you’re going to fix it up at home.

Came here on a Sunday afternoon for lunch with a groupon. I was a little hesitant based on other bad reviews but I thought this place was great. We had a very nice server and he was attentive to our table(given, it was dead when we were there but still). This place serves SO much food for a good price. I had the St Louis ribs w mac&cheese and cornbread and my husband had wings and tips with baked beans and sweet potato fries. I LOVED my meal and the size of it could have easily fed 2 – 3 people it was so big. I even had enough for left overs. My husbands chicken was really good as well but I wasn’t a fan of the tips(mainly cartilage) or the baked beans(it wasn’t in a thick sauce and they tasted overly vinegary to me. I would def come back here for some good BBQ food.

OMG this place is so good! First time visitors and we tried it all: Mac n cheese fritters, house smoked wings, onion frizzles then pulled BBQ chicken(omg), and chicken sausage jambalaya. Yum… Good professional service. We’ll be back!

TRUEBBQ– not just BBQ style food with BBQ sauce on top. Split the sampler! If anything, it helps you decide what you like most(if you can make up your mind) for next time. Literally– nothing food-wise is disappointing. I’m partial to the St. Louis ribs. They are Smokey, not greasy, and super tasty! Best bbq joint we’ve ever been to in NJ. Huge selection, there is something for everyone. The live music is sometimes overwhelmingly loud and the quality of service is mixed(more times good than not). Not a huge draft beer selection but some good drink specials on particular nights. Eat here and expect to come back! If you’re not convinced, check for their groupon to give them a shot.

I wouldnt even give this restaurant a star, but since I have to they get just one star. If your looking for cheap food you found the spot but will still complain. The food is horrible on some days and OK other days BUT with the horrible service I would NOT even spend my money at SuzyQues BBQ. The owner is extremely disrespectful especially to her own staff. One night we witness her belittle not one but 2 of her staff. Our opinion they were great server and bartender. The way she is so rude will leave me to NOT come back to this BBQ restaurant in West Orange. Go to HATCITY instead which is few blocks away. Better service and food!

Based on the reviews, I was bracing myself for a disappointing meal, but I was actually thrilled with my food. I ordered the bbq sampler platter which consisted of 2 baby back ribs, 2 St. Louis style ribs, 2 bbq chicken wings, one slice of brisket, chopped pulled pork and 2 sides. For your sides, you can choose steamed vegetables, creamed spinach, fries, Mac and cheese, onion rings and many more! I chose the Mac and cheese and the steamed vegetables — both were had a garlic flavor which was a big +. My ribs had a nice seasoning and was not too dry nor too wet. Perfect enough to add one of the sauces. Although the sauces weren’t my favorite, they were at least decent enough for me to want to use. I liked the sweet habanero one for the ribs and chicken and the vinegar sauce for the pulled pork. The platter is $ 27, but is good enough for 2 or 3 meals! I see from Unilocal that this place is a hit or miss. So I will update my review the next time I come. I may change my mind about this restaurant.

After much debate on where to get Sunday brunch, my friend and I decided to give SuzyQue’s a chance especially since we got pretty good Groupon deal. We drove in and it was pretty early but there was another family here eating. The servers, contrary to some of the reviews here, we’re quite attentive and Suzy stopped by to give us some suggestions and whipped up an amazing warm Apple Cider & Pecan Pie Whisky to start things up! We ordered two combo platters and boy did they have a lot! I don’t think I will order the combo again since some were better than others but still a great meal. Favorites include the pork, brisket, and wings. The ribs were alright but I feel I have had better. The sides were to die for: creamed spinach and sweet potato fries with corn bread? Need I say more? I also think the sauces were cute and really enjoyed the darker, sweet sauce as well as the spicy vinegar based sauces. Brings out the flavor without overwhelming the BBQ& rub. I do plan on returning and ordering one of the particular BBQ dishes I liked and trying out more of Suzy’s concoctions!
