Nice variety of menu choices, I particularly liked the option of getting a small or full-size salad. And the small plate options were great too!

If you’re looking for casual fine dining with a very interesting menu, Sandy Point Beach House is the place to go. Lots of different things to choose from on the menu. Pub Burger is fantastic. Comes with a bacon & onion relish that’s to die for. EXCELLENT cocktail menu with so much to offer. I like getting the cucumber pear martini but they have a list of 5 – 6 versions of a Moscow Mule that caught my eye and I want to try them next time. We did order their version of bruschetta and were extremely disappointed by the size for the price. 6 pieces of bread but came with only 3 halves of cherry tomatoes. Server said that was unusual though, so give it a try if you do go. I recommend asking for Ashley. She is very bubbly, upbeat, and has a lot of great advice about the menu!

So sorry to have to do this but it just keeps getting worse. What started as a little gem is being overshadowed by the snooty people. This time we come in at 6:15(open till 8:00) and were turned away with a ¼ Full house. She references a hand written sign on an open door saying they would stop serving at 7:00. ?? Kids were completely bummed and she was just as rude as can be without so much as even a sorry. Website said nothing and reservation went through. Done with this place. Not the first time. If you don’t want to serve people, find a different business venture.

I’m a local… Sandy Point Beach House — 3rd visit and third big disappointment. New management but no better than last. Had 2 whitefish specials after server raved. Got two tiny over-cooked«filets» about a quarter inch thick and about the size of a small bluegill. It was served over a stingy, mostly raw, barely warm veggies with mashed potatoes for $ 28 each. No view, no ambiance, noisy, over priced and clueless… After a complaint to hostess as we left, manager followed us to parking lot… said she knew they had a problem and was trying to turn things around, then asked us to come back and try them again… there was NO apology and no attempt to «make things right» for us this evening after a $ 90 bill for two. REALLY? Plenty of good food in the area so not going back PSBH for us or our friends.

I’ve been here 5 times over the past year. Each time I’ve ordered a different entrée, hoping each time for something that might match the wonderful ambiance. Each time I’ve been disappointed. Tonight the quasi underperforming demonico left so much to be desired. Service was good… however I’ll have to be quite bored of all the average restaurants on the Lakeshore before I return. The next meal on tap… the Lobster Mac And Cheese. Should that fail to impress, there’s probably not much remaining worth coming back to.

Went to SPBH again. Food had definately improved. I had the steak and frites. My wife had a wedge salad with Tuna. We both liked our meals. The only problem was that the portions were very small. I think my $ 20 steak was about 4 – 5 ounces, which they compensated for by serving a LOT of frites. My wife’s salad was served with a good quantity of tuna, which was prepared very well, but they scrimped on the lettuce. I didn’t think lettuce was that expensive! Had to go to Captain Sundae in the way home. I have learned, stick to the burgers

This is my favorite place to eat and socialize. The entire staff from the greeters, bar managers, waitresses and kitchen are very professional and friendly. Even when they’re slammed, the wait times are acceptable. It can be noisy in the bar area but there is plenty of seating where you can have more intimate conversations. And in the Summer, you can eat outside and enjoy those beautiful Michigan Summer evenings. The menu is varied from the great salads to great fish and steaks. The menu changes somewhat with the seasons and the great mixologists can fix any concoction you desire. What’s not to like.

Holy awful, Batman! The wine we ordered was perfect, the ambience was on point and even our server was a pleasure. The food was nearly inedible, in fact about 70% of what we ordered remained on the table, no interest in a doggy bag. I had high hopes given the apparent swank but the break was all stale ALL stale. We ordered the chutney brie bruschetta app and I understand bruschetta’s are made w stale bread but this was way past expiration and I at least would have hoped bread be toasted or brie be baked, but the culinary level was that of a quick after work snack with all the right ingredients and a lazy execution. Our pasta had meat that was so ground you couldn’t tell what it was and I think I tasted saffron which I enjoy but if it’s going to be in a dish, mention it in the description… Said for all herbs. In this dish, not the right choice. And our bread was burnt to half char! The server said upon setting our plate down like he knew it was a mistake that this was for added flavor. Which could be true but this was a block of carbon. Their kitchen was to close in 15 mins of our arrival so we ordered promptly no problem but I think all these oversights were just laziness with a definite goal in closing up BOH rather than make a guest happy. I’m usually not harsh on my reviews but we paid a grand chunk for food even a begging dog would have spat out upon their first chew. Errrrr… It’s times like this I wish I were the patron that demands refund or some other obnoxious request but I can’t ever bring myself to do it, and as said, our server wasn’t unpleasant so we responded in kind.

Great place to go for drinks in the summer, and to be fair is the only place in the area. The patio area is fantastic and the drinks are great. The bar tenders are very friendly and will even let you charge your phone at a station they have. We have been here a couple times for food and have had very different experiences. For lunch my wife and I both had good food/service. The ahi tacos were pretty good, and the key lime pie desert was phenomenal. On another visit for dinner we called ahead and they refused reservations. When we arrived, the host asked us if we had reservations… duh we don’t you told us you didn’t take them. Although it was less then ¼ full it took an hour to be seated. We ordered and an hour later we got our appetizers. At this point we were told that some of our entrée orders were no longer available because they sold all of them. Then another hour later half of the food arrived, COLD. A grilled cheese was served that was 2 pieces of cold bread with cold uncooked cheese inside. The $ 30+ lobster mac and cheese was also cold and not appetizing. The other half of the food never arrived. We talked to a manager and left. On our way out, the smell was unbearable, the restaurant was having their septic tank pumped during dinner service. Hope it is better next time.

The drive South of Grand Haven to this place is worth it! My personal favorite is the bacon onion relish on any sandwich. The atmosphere of the restaurant is fresh, so nice to see what the owners have done to revive the abandoned place!

The food and service is a little above average. Our waitress was very attentive and nice and the atmosphere is good unless you are looking for a quaint atmosphere with your significant other. The entire restaurant is very loud. If you are dining with a group then this is the place for you.

Our waiter last night, Joe, was wonderful and gave great recommendations! Literally loved him. started with a half order of the mussels and our very own pitcher of water(adorable) although the bread was a burned it was delicious with that broth, Would drink it as soup, Please get the mini forks as we were unable to crack open some of the mussels :( Drinks included a very minty mint julep and a peartini! extensive liquor selections. ended up ordering joes two favorite entrees lol, pan seared halibut and lobster mac and cheese.(Pictured below) both were out of this world! Fish was flavorful and filling, I’m not a mushroom person but the garnish was delicious. Potatoes on the other hand were totally rock solid and inedible. generous portions, can’t wait it’ll be lunch today! The prices are high considering it’s not on actually on the water, but they made up for it in value. Just need some mini forks and dinner rolls:)

Looking for a little paradise gem? Come here!!! We sat outdoors and was already off to a great start. Live music with a band who played a perfect blend of music. Groups dancing and singing along made us feel right at home. Drink choices were vast, a little on the strong side for my taste but still delicious after a long day in the sun. Grab your drinks and try your hand at bocce ball(you’ll probably be much better than I!) when peaking at the menu I expected something mediocre. Instead I was delighted to see a great spread of options with a refined taste. My salad(fig & prosciutto) was the perfect refreshing taste after a long weekend of sunning, a few taste of others around my table made it easy to decide that I needed to come back and try more of the menu! Well done all around!!! I give a huge thumbs up to this little hidden gem and can’t wait to visit again!

I’ve probably eaten there 10 times this year. I try to pick something new off the menu each time but I occasionally go back to my 2 favorites, pub burger or the brine chicken. Never disappointed. The service is excellent and the atmosphere is just right. Clearly off the beaten path and full of locals. Food– very well prepared and tasty, service– fun and top notch, price– a good value(wine is a deal!) and very clean facility which is manditory for me.

Traditionally we have enjoyed everything about Sandy Point … until this past year. Our recent visit was questioning our desire to ever go back and we learned our friends had the same thought. The hostess seem dazed and we were not even greeted with a smile or a welcome. I had to repeatedly ask if everything was set in finding us a table(we had reservations). Finally sat in the midst of a huge party of 18. Why that party was placed in the center of the room instead of off to the side I will never understand. We couldn’t even hear each other and our server Taylor had trouble communicating with us as well. The food … tuna tacos were almost too spicy to eat; the NY Strip, a special that night was average(expecting a WOW for $ 32); the Haddock was ok but small and the potatoes were not cooked through; the bolognese was ok but the noodles were gummy & overcooked; the best part of the dinner was the cheese board. It is such a pretty restaurant but there are other pretty restaurants with tasty food. It was such an expensive disappointment.

Tonight my lady and I tried out the sandy point beach house. It is an elegant setting with a lot of great staff to boot. To start I ordered the mussels which were fabulous but half of them were not in their shell. I then ordered the delmanico that cost 30 $ so I thought it would be a great purchase with great flavour. I ordered it medium rare just the way I love steak. I got the steak and it was cooked well done… The lady ordered filet mignon also medium rare and received it well done. I was not happy because if I wanted beef jerky I would have picked up some jack links at shell instead of paying 60 dollars for steak I could cook my self. Moving forward I had a bite of the brussels sprouts that came on the side. They were like rocks !! Horrible! I send the steaks back and the ladies steak comes in 10 mins mine on the other hand 40+ mins after and mind u she has finished her meal now… I start into the steak and realize it was not even cooked and is extremely rare. I couldn’t even eat it … I was still hungry from not being able to eat my meal so I order Crème brûlée which they claim is the best on the menu… We get it and it is cold and burnt … I did not enjoy this experience one bit! I’m sorry but this was the worst dining experiences I have ever encountered… To boot in the end the bill was still 108 $ biggest waste of money I have ever spent and I left hungry … Don’t waste ur time
