Joe’s Crab Shack

Came here on a Saturday in the afternoon everything was pretty packed this wasn’t even my first choice I was going to Chilli’s but the wait was ridiculous and Chilli’s not even THAT great. Wait time for both places was 20 mins BUT the ladies at Joe’s were nice enough to let us sit on some table they weren’t really sitting people down at. We sat because my 84 yr old grandma was tired of walking. Moments later the waitress asked us if we would like to have our meal here and of course we said yes. The food was really good we also ordered piña coladas that was great and they came in a pineapple. Waitress was really nice as well she checked up on us frequently. Food is good

The first time my family came here (when it first opened) we were thouroughly disappointed. All the food was too salty, the drinks were very weak, and the service was horrible. Somebody recommended we try it again, and we did, and we’ve been back ever since! We started out with 2 dozen oysters ($ 1 a piece on Friday/​Saturday/​Sunday) and 2 salads, and they were great! Normally we order the queen crab leg steam bucket, and it is so delicious and so much food! We saw they had a new item on the menu for a limited time, jumbo bairdi crab, so we asked the waitress Mari and she highly recommended them. What a treat! They were so delicious! Unfortunately my father’s bucket looked a little skimpy, and when he mentioned it to the waitress she said to start on what he had and she would bring some more. She ended up bringing out enough crab legs to equal almost another order! Mari was super attentive the entire night. She definitely got a good tip. I would absolutely recommended going here!

I had the worst experience here the worst party is the manager never came that was the worst part besides letting us order they didn’t even have half the stuff we picked and if they did it was cooked differently not cool at all the server was nice at least

Leo was a great server. Loved the sampler & queen bucket. Could work on portion for price but quality of food is good!

a lot of people are bashing on the service. I have eaten here a hand full of times, I have never had bad service yet. Always usually get a steam pot which is consistently good. I can eat crab legs all day. With this said, I was pleasantly surprised when I walked in on Weds, to discover $ 35 all you can eat crab legs. Can be a little pricey probably, but I didnt leave for awhile, so I made it worth the money!

Come in the morning. Not crowded at all. Delicious and good for kids. The bacon shrimp and mahai tacos were especially good.

Mixed Drinks are great but. not so much the food my fried shrimp was soggy and steak had no flavor.

Food took a long time coming out even though there were only 5 couples in the entire restaurant. When it arrived, it had everything we didn’t ask for… specifically stating «no meat». The lobster was boiled so much the meat was grey, and we received 2 pieces of so called queen crab, but clearly it was snow crab… not even larger than my fork. This is my first time going since it opened a few years ago, and the food was lousy then. I only went back due to my wife’s begging, and btw, she’s not happy either.

I should have known better to not go here, but my husband and I were really hungry… I knew something told me to not go here after approaching the host who was having a very funny conversation with two of her friends — so unprofessional — where’s the manager??? We got to the table and waited at least 15 minutes and decided to walk out. The place was empty and there was at least 3 waitresses. Not one waitress came to our table, instead looked at us and just walked right on by. So we got up and left, passing by the host and her two giggling friends… never will I go here again and I suggest you do the same. We settled for Chipotle instead and that was delicious!!!

Good but not great. It’s a franchise so I can’t expect much from them. Service is good.

I like the layout, the feel, of the restaurant, but the location throws the whole thing off. It should be next to a marina, and not next to escalators inside a mall. The waiter we had was cool, don’t know if he’s a time traveler from Woodstock ’69 or on some sort of stimulants. The shrimp I had was nasty. I had never ate shrimp, so bland, and unappetizing in my life. On top of that I had to remove the deshell them as well, thank you very much Joe’s Crab Shack. This restaurant chain is offensive, I see it tanking soon. It reminds me of Long John Silvers, but a super expensive one.

If I could give negative starts I would. This place was probably the worst place I’ve ever eaten at. We ordered a bucket of shrimp and got the smallest worst tasting shrimp I’ve ever had in my life. My wife and I ordered 2 whole lobsters and what we got was a joke. Everything tasted frozen and who knows how long it was sitting at the bottom of the freezer. My server tried to give me a coupon for free appetizers on our next visit I told her not to worry because I would never ever considering going back. Do yourself a favor and avoid at all costs.

My husband and I went for lunch and I was VERY DISAPPOINTED. The food tasted AWFUL! I ordered the steak with shrimp, the steak wasn’t even edible. I had one bite and didn’t even bother for the second. my husband ordered the 50 $ lobster bake beans, and it was a waste of money. The mussels didn’t even have any meat on them, there was suppose to be two lobsters and it seemed they had been out of water for months. the color of the lobsters looked disgusting one lobster was broken and didn’t even have meat. we spent 100 $ and an hour later we went to McDonalds to get full because this place was awful. I will never go there again it was a ripe off and the food was disgusting. For a seafood place there was no taste for the lobster or shrimp. I do not recommend this place at all

I’ve always been a fan of Joe’s Crab Shack until I came to this location. The service is terribly slow. I gave this place 1 star just for the food itself.
First, they messed up our reservation. Then, it took them forever to take our orders. The waitress then missed one of our orders. She didn’t even give us bibs and needed utensils to eat seafood. She was not even around that much and when we asked other waitresses to get us utensils to eat our seafood before it gets cold, they just ignored us.
It is unacceptable with what we had to pay. They are not worth our money.

Love this place went here with my one and only my hubby. The wait time wasn’t long, you could walk around and they text you when your table is ready, food was abundant (serves two) establishment is spotless. server kept u entertained while watching them dancing. Oh try not to take any utensils home even though it’s tempting— their stamped stolen. heeee heeee…

Holy crap is this place bad!!! Went in for lunch last week and ordered the Sam Adams steam pot. Supposed to come with clams, sausage, crab legs, and 2 – 3 lobster claws (also fries and hush puppies if your server bothered to ask you, otherwise it’s tasteless potatoes and corn on the cob). What I received:
Tasteless potatoes
Tasteless corn on the cob
A bunch of clams, most of which fell out of the shell
A set of crab legs
Sausage
No lobster claws
A bunch of unpeeled, non-​deveined sh*t filled shrimp (they oozed brown liquid)
2 very skinny crustacean claws aka CRAB claws
After inquiring about the fries and hush puppies I was told by my server I needed to ask for them or else I get the potatoes/​corn. Had I been made aware of this I would have requested them. She offered to bring me some, but had such an attitude I kindly declined.
I started on the crab legs — okay, nothing great.
On to the shrimp. I then called my server over to ask why the shrimp was disgusting and still had the shell on. I was told that’s how the shrimp is served and she left. I didn’t eat them.
I then moved on to my lobster claws… wait a minute, these aren’t lobster claws. AND my meal isn’t supposed to come with shrimp in the first place. WTF?
I ask for the manager. After a few minutes he comes and I say I believe I was given the wrong meal as my meal was supposed to come with lobster claws and no shrimp. These are crab claws. He tells me no those are lobster claws (the long, skinny orange shelled crab claws that I’m holding and am able to break with my bare hands). Wow. He then says I can have lobster claws if I would like. YES!!!
After another 10 minute wait, three huge, red actual lobster claws are served to me, kind of overcooked but at this point I was lucky to get anything served correctly.

I like the food here, but the service is deplorable. My boyfriend and I came here for a nice New Year’s Eve dinner. We drove up from Bergen county, which is bit a short hop. We wanted the queen crab, which is what we had previously and really enjoyed. We came fairly early.
Well, they were OUT of the queen crab. This is Joe’s CRAB Shack. How do they manage to be OUT of one of their main menu items? We asked to speak to the manager to see if she might be able to take a few dollars of the king crab, which was a full $ 7 more than the menu staple we specifically came for. She explained that someone had screwed up the ordering for the week, so they were out of the queen crab. That was their fault and an explanation doesn’t really suffice.
We ended up leaving, frustrated. On our way out the manager offered us a coupon for a free appetizer. We had mentioned to her that we were considering leaving. It’s ironic that, if she had attempted to accommodate us in some small way, we would never have left in the first place! This restaurant is a great example of how NOT to run a restaurant! Very disappointing!

I should’ve known when I saw two groups complaining to the manager not to eat here. But you know, «there’s always a line,. It must be good»
I know it’s a «shack» but shouldn’t a seafood restaurant be able to cook seafood?!
Everyone in my party, myself included, hated their dish.
Our calamari appetizer was cold and chewy.
Crab cakes sucked.
My steak: one half medium– other half well. Wtf.
Onion straws? Straws. No onion. Lol
Even a simple corn on the cob was disgusting (can I post pictures here?)
When they run out of part of your dish, They just cross their fingers and hope you forget about it. Everybody was missing a side order. Our waiter didn’t even offer a substitute after telling us the manager told him they ran out. We will never go back. Never. Ever. Lol

We come to this location purely during week day afternoons since there are no lines, seating is immediate. This also means that service is good and attentive as there are only a few patrons.
This location is clean and is unique that it has 2 levels. The upper level is nice but not available during the afternoons. Perfect for a lunch then movie next door at the AMC Theater.
We love the seafood pots they offer but we love the queen crabs as they are meaty and easy to handle. New England claim chowder is also very good as there are chunks of clamp along with the potatoes.
I had a rib eye steak which was not smart so stick with what they are known for, crab!
