The Hotel Tavern

I have had lunch here several times in recent weeks. The food was fresh and the service was prompt. Very friendly staff. Will dine here again soon. Indoor and outdoor seating.

Very very clean and very friendly staff. We went for lunch and I had the personal cheese pizza and my husband had a hamburger. Both were good. They have an awesome outside patio but it was raining so we ate inside. They have a very nice separate bar. What impressed me most was how clean and organized everything is. The bathroom was new and spotless. Definitely recommend.

The ambiance is great, and so is the coconut cream cheese pound cake. The service was impeccable. The owner stopped by and chatted with us for 10 minutes. Very nice and friendly people. Unfortunately, we went somewhere else for dinner that didn’t have the ambiance that the Hotel Tavern did.

Our first time for dinner here and the food and staff were wonderful! Service was fast, Leslie always made sure we had what we needed and more, Andy the owner sat down with us like we were old friends. Music in the lounge later was great, it’s definitely a locals hangout and as part-​timers up here we will be back!

First time to West Jefferson. Lunch at the Hotel Tavern was very good. Fish sandwich and burger both good. Servers are friendly and there is a local atmosphere.

We have a vacation home in Todd and have been to most of the restaurants in the area including in West Jefferson. Can’t believe we have missed this gem! Had fish and chips for lunch and some of the best ever. The fish coating was light and fresh, no old grease taste at all, and came to our table straight from the kitchen. The fries were amazing, properly salted, hot and crispy. Portion was large so we shared and took desserts home which were also exceptional. We each had a glass of wine, $ 6 for a decent Chardonnay and healthy pours. The staff was very friendly and attentive also. We will be back often. Thank you Hotel Tavern.

Great atmosphere, very busy tonight but very attentive service from the wait staff and the owner. Filet was cooked as ordered and left for me to season, salmon was presented well with a very nice flavor. Great addition to the dinning experience in WJ.

Steak was very tender. Staff is extremely personable, I always feel like family when I visit. Great wine and beer selection. Will always visit!

Ghost pepper burger is hot with a lot of flavor. Not so hot that it spoils the meal. Delicious. Everyone at the table enjoyed their meal. I would drive from my home in Winston Salem to eat here again!

Great food, friendly staff, prompt service, and a live band made for a perfect evening. We had the Santa Fe chicken and a rib eye steak. Both were delicious.

Excellent. The atmosphere, service, and food are great here. The owners Beth and Sherman are out making sure everything goes well which is really nice. Definitely give the tavern a try.

Tried this place for the first time yesterday… October 21^st, 2015. Was very impressed and had a great experience!!! It was a lovely Fall day here in West Jefferson and I chose to sat outside and enjoy the fresh breeze and 70 degree weather. Anthony W. was my server and he was great!!! I ordered The Tavern Burger with regular french fries and a Coca Cola. Ordered the burger to be cooked medium and it was right on the money!!! Burger was thick and juicy, covered in delicious cheddar cheese and grilled onions, just like I ordered it. I was getting over a cold and had a cough and raw throat and was thirsty and Anthony never let me run out of Coke. I think he refilled it 4 or 5 times. He was very attentive, but not too attentive to be annoying. Perfect. There was another lady there who I took it was either the owner or the manager and she was very nice and genuinely friendly and made me feel right at home. Cant wait to come back and get me another burger and try some of the other items. Maybe a juicy steak next time!!! Highly recommend!!!

Found this place while searching for «Dog Friendly» restaurants in West Jefferson. The outdoor patio is pet friendly. We did have to wait a while for a table. On Fridays there is live music outside. The hosts were very apologetic and sat my husband and I as soon as a table opened up. We loved the tomato bisque soup and ranch fries as starters. For dinner we both created our own burgers. We saw the owner greeting customers, checking on us, moving tables and helping the servers when it rained on us at the end of the night. I would highly recommend this place either for inside or outside dining, it has a great bar area too!

Good food. Attentive staff. We had burgers that were quite good, a Cesar salad and Chicken Fettucine Alfredo. Everyone liked what they got,

Great place. Great burgers. Very nice staff. Definitely recommend. Paula and the bar staff were very nice and didn’t mind us being the last one out the door.

Had a sandwich and salad. Salad was of diet proportions. Wife had a salad and had the same experience. Not worth the money.

We had high hopes for this place. We were sorely disappointed to say the least. First, the food took forever and they weren’t busy at all. We came in with our two kids and ordered them grilled chicken, a side of bacon (which we were told was $ 2 to add on since it was «more» than adding a side to a burger” they each received one piece of bacon which I was fine with but they certainly squeezed an extra $ 1.50 out of us because my husbands burger came with 2 as well and that was only .50. We were also charged $ 1 upgrade per kid for veggies vs fries & they were cold and undercooked at that. Total the kids meals cost us $ 16! Add on $ 3.00 for a half a cup of pineapple juice!
I ordered a sauerkraut burger which was nothing more than a normal burger with a tablespoon of sauerkraut on it. I took the bun off so I could try to taste some of the burger but did not make up for the lack of sauerkraut on the burger.
Our bill came to $ 51.00 and I can tell you this food was no where near worth it.
I do not recommend dining here. No idea what all the fuss is about this place.

Try the High Country Chicken.

We went there for brunch and the ultimate breakfast is SO goooooooood The service was very delightful as well. Lots of other interesting items as well we will definitely be back again!

Had a fantastic dining experience! From being seated by the owner to our server Leslie who was very attentive! Their chicken salad was the best I’ve ever tasted! I wish they bottled their creamy apple dressing as I would have bought a case! Their portions are very generous.
