Upstairs

OK, I’ve never written a review before, but I’m compelled to do so in this case. My sister told me about the Upstairs Boutique — she knew I was in desperate need of some new clothes and was raving about how much I would love this place. I’m generally not a boutique shopper; I get most everything at the department stores and malls. (To my girlfriend’s dismay, I usually only shop for myself 1 – 2 times a year and I refuse to spend a lot of money on clothes.) But my sister’s rave reviews intrigued both my girlfriend and I so we decided to check it out.
It took us a minute to find the store (turned out it’s above Modern Beauty Supply — thus the name «Upstairs»), but we’re SO glad we did. First, the layout and design of the store itself is extremely cool and well done… kinda hard to describe — you just need to check it out for yourself. You’ll dig it. In addition, Stacy and Gary were incredibly fun, friendly and helpful — which is always appreciated by someone as fashion-​challenged as I am. (You’re not reading the words of a fashionista here, I assure you.) Most importantly, they have an awesome selection of really cool clothes and other items for both men and women — and their prices are unbelievably affordable. Seriously. Nobody could believe how little we paid for the amount of stuff we bought. They have these monthly Special Offers that sound too good to be true, but I’m here to tell you they’re totally legit. When we went a few weeks ago, they were offering 30% off ALL t-​shirts, jeans, dresses and lingerie. Plus, they give 20% of their profits to charity. Unreal. Honestly, I don’t know how they can afford to stay in business with the amount they give away, but I’ll be taking advantage of it for as long as it lasts.
My only complaint is that my girlfriend is now completely obsessed with this place and I fear I’ve created a monster!

This place is easy to miss (it’s above Modern Beauty) but don’t! A great place to buy a gift (hit this and book soup and you’re set for just about anybody) — they’ve done the work for you in selecting unique things. I found great stuff for my wife here; it’s really reasonable and the people who work there are very cool, down-​to-​earth and very funny. I had a great experience shopping here.
