Mechta is one of the best Russian Delis I have seen. As soon as you walk into the store, you know you have just crossed international lines into Russia. I have been here at least a dozen times now, and each time gets better and better. I ordered the Golubtsi which was great, and then took some Kvass and Prianik to go, both were great compliments to the Golubsti and tasted great. Also the service is great, very friendly and nice. Definitely recommend Mechta.

I have been to Mechta Deli a handful of times. I am not impressed with the selection of prepared foods and other Russian goods sold at Mechta. The counter staff are rude and obnoxious, which unfortunately has become the norm for most Russian Delis/stores. One would think that customer service at Russian stores would have improved by now with the younger generation maturing and assisting with the operation of their family business. This is not the case at Mechta Deli.

I shop here on almost a daily basis, and its definitely one of the best deli stores I have been to. They have fresh food made everyday, so you can run in and buy a salad, piroshki, BBQ and more! Their BBQ is incredible. They have a wide selection of Russian herbs, teas, oils, and natural medicine. Their produce is always fresh and sold at a great price. I had them cater ATMYHOUSE for my b-day for over 50 ppl at an incredibly reasonable price and I asked If they offer full service including setup, servers, and clean-up and they made it happen! They BBQed at my house so the BBQ was hot and fresh right off the skewer. I met with one of the owners, Alla, to set this up because it was my first time planning something like this and she was suuuper helpful!

Great little Russian store with authentic russian food, grocery, herbs and supplements. Vinegret and roasted eggplant salad are very good.

All kinds of hard-to-find herbal and medicinal teas. Fun to explore.

I come here quite a lot because I like supporting small businesses. I’ll start with the food, they have some amazing Russian salads just like my grandmother used to make. I also like getting the chicken kebabs here especially when they’re right off the grill. It has your typical fruits and vegetables but at great prices. The berries(raspberries, blueberries, gooseberries) are definitely way cheaper then they are at the supermarkets. The staff is always welcoming and help me out when I’m trying to buy the different types of salami. Ohhh they also have natural herbs there which are natural ways to cure some sicknesses and diseases and I love that. Overall it’s a nice store with a variety of choices ranging from fruits to cooked food to herbs.

I’ve been to Mechta Deli about a dozen times, and am proud to say that this is one of the better Russian food stores. They have a great selection and prices on all of their cooked goods are very affordable, a wish come true! Also, they have the best selection of herbs and medicine making them the number one place to go to if you were to self medicate and be a healthy Russian. I came here after I could not find the remedy that I was looking for at whole-foods supermarket! Friendly cashiers, and overall just a well taken care of Russian family store. good atmosphere! Everything is fresh and ripe!

They have a fairly good selection compared to other Russian markets in the area. I’ll give them that. However, there is certainly much to be desired of this place. You have the usual Russian cold-ness(figuratively speaking, that is) — no greeting, not that I expected one; no assistance around the store, not that I expected that either. But they didn’t even acknowledge that I walked in the store. At least look up from what you’re «busy» with, for Christ’s sake! Ugh… The pricing could be better. It’s still cheaper than Ralphs, of course, but that doesn’t make it that cheap. I usually go by the price of berries to determine whether a store is overpriced or not. Their strawberries were going for either $ 2.50 or $ 3; blueberries, same; raspberries, $ 4 I think. I just bought blueberries a few days earlier for a dollar each — at the Grove! — so I knew the going rates. If you’re looking to smuggle some food into Bar Lubitsch, by all means, but this particular section of SM Blvd. has an unrivaled selection of Russian mini-marts, and this one ain’t nothing to pull over for.
