I really wanted to like this place, I even went back a second time to give it another chance, but once again, I was disappointed. To begin, this place is always fairly crowded and there is usually a wait. This is expected, but just be prepared. Parking is hit or miss. Sometimes there are a lot of free meter spots, at other times, it takes a good 20 mins just to find parking. Once again, being in LA, this is expected. The décor is extremely cute; it looks like an old house that was converted into this café. There is outdoor seating on the street as well. The food is decent. Nothing spectacular that blows my mind, but nothing really terrible. The second time I went, I had the smoked salmon and caviar open sandwich and it was standard. The bakery items are pretty good, but a bit pricey for what they are. What really causes me to give this place such a low review is the service. I would give the food three stars, but the service was extremely terrible. I came here on a Sunday afternoon around 2pm. I did not have to wait for seating, we were seated right away, but it took around 15 minutes to get someone to take our drink order. It then took another 15 minutes to get our food order. After we had finished eating, it took us 30 minutes more to get our check, despite asking two different people for it, since our server was nowhere to be found. At this point, we were one of five parties left in the restaurant. When our server came back to our table, she asked us if we needed anything else, to which we replied, can we please get our check since we have been waiting for thirty minutes for it and have already asked two other people, but still have not gotten it. She explained she was on break, but usually when servers go on break, they come to your table, tell you they will be on break and the new server who will be taking over during their break. I have experienced terrible service both times I have been here and the food is just not worth it; I don’t have three hours to spend eating a late brunch. Sometimes, I do enjoy a slower pace at a restaurant, but I would like it to be my choice and not because the servers take forever to get our orders or bring us the check.

Quaint atmosphere, friendly staff, outdoor seating. The vegetable omelette was very nicely done. The pastries looked magnificent, so I’ll be back.

Had Father’s Day brunch here– making it my third time visiting La Conversation. It’s a really cute, cozy little restaurant and sitting inside or outside both have different and unique charms. The food is really fresh, basic and they give out overly generous portions, IMO. I got an omelette last time and this time, I got the breakfast combo, which comes with pancakes– which are light and fluffy and just perfect. Their coffee is delicious which makes weekend mornings easy with a one-stop for brunch and coffee. And who can say know to the basket of delicious pastries– their croissants are really fresh and delicious. The only reason I deducted one star is because all three times service was very slow and the servers forget. It feels like they’re understaffed in that the servers disappear or forget what you asked them for, but they make up for it with great attitudes and apologizing each time. Will definitely become one of my steady go-to’s.

Nice quaint place, Interesting! Parisian décor that I loved but wife Marie found it a bit old fashioned and cluttered. Served us free mini-muffins and glazed mini-croissant first. Wonderful steak salad and great savory croissant(mushroom and Swiss) in a very flaky perfectly baked dough. Bit too loud for our«older» ears, the reason for 4 stars — but if loudness is not a problem for you…

This is a top notch breakfast /brunch spot tucked away on a sleepy section of Doheny. Grab a sidewalk café table or cozy up inside — great Parisian atmosphere. The service is quick and courteous and I love the basket of baked goodies that come before your meal — little muffins and sweet rolls. I decided on the goat cheese omelette and it was excellent. They also have a café mocha that is not to be missed. Can’t wait to come back!

Love this neighborhood gem. Everything is homemade and fresh. I have never had a bad experience. Both breakfast and lunch are delicious and service is always good. My favorites are the Eggless Breakfast Burrito and the Smoked Salmon. Make sure to check out the homemade pastries inside on the way out because if not you are missing out!

I went a while back. it was nice to go again yesterday for lunch. I had the steak salad, my friend had the quinoa salad with chicken. We had coffees… Just a charming spot. We sat outside. Great waiters. Good spot. I will be back.(Parking kinda sucks, but for 5 $ someone will park your car. Do it.

What a delight! A cozy bakery with an excellent cappuccino. The sweets I tried were made with love, not one cardboard pastry in site. The unique decorations and delightful treats create a perfect setting for a lengthy conversation. Can’t wait to return and try the food.

Prefect Sunday morning. Iced coffee and the Dantes Breakfast Special, which came with sausage, potatoes, eggs, and pancakes. We sat outside, although it was sprinkling a bit so we ate quickly. My favorite were the pancakes, very thin, but delicious and not too sweet. Service was okay. I think we’re were more worried about the rain coming since there aren’t any coverings over us. Plenty of street parking, both free and metered parking. Just an okay experience. Nothing memorable.

If you have time to kill and money to burn… this is the place for you. Friendly staff. Over priced meals worth a long luxurious outing for. Not for the«on the go» grab your coffee and head to work kind of spot. I walked out with a meatless breakfast burrito and coffee for a whopping $ 19.75. Trust me friends, you’re better off grabbing a breakfast burrito at the oaks in the Franklin village for $ 8.00 and a gourmet coffee to boot. The coffee here was mediocre at a diners best. If you’ve smoked in excess for 20 years and have lost your sense of smell and taste then a coffee might be delicious at la conversation. I promise you, I will not be returning, unfortunately.

We randomly came to La Conversation for a late lunch on our way to Beverly Center as we were searching for an outdoor seating restaurant for our doggie :) service was a bit slow but it’s expected for a small French café. We ordered Bouchee a la Reine –(thousand layer pastry with chicken Béchamel and mushrooms) and a Pear and Arugula salad with chicken to share. The salad was just OK but the Bouchee was so delicious even my 1 year old loved it!

Yummy and quaint place located on the corner of Beverly Hills and WeHo. We were a little early for a wedding at the Troubadour, and this was the perfect place to have a light bite.

This review? Long overdue. What’s the conversation you ask about La Conversation? Well… From what I know, this is small unique organic establishment with a hint of Paris atmosphere. I frequent this spot because it’s close to work. I don’t really get down with coffee(Yeah, you read right. I don’t drink coffee. I grew up watching my parents drink enough of it for me and half the kids I kicked it with around the way.) Anyway… I like a croissant or a nice scramble eggs and/or oatmeal and/or bacon. The mixed fruit from here is usually seasonal, fresh and WELLCUT. (we all are familiar with certain spots that hand out fruit bowls that are LACKINGGGGGG with freshness. Not here.) Not only are items well prepared here but the service is top notch. I usually like to mess with Naomi, she recognizes my voice from phone calls and knows my orders down to a tee. Ok. Yeah, I’ve been working in the area for about three years but in that time I’ve seen quite a variety of patrons frequent the spot. It’s not an iHop type of joint. Where one might bring a big party(6 – 8 people) and have a brunch type of feast. This spot is a bit more intimate, way more personable here. Small tables, set for engaging catch-up conversions or business idea pitches for whatever the case. Oh yeah, don’t trip if you see a couple grannies coming thru the piece. The pastries from here are amazing! I’m sayin’ doe! At least every other time I’m at the spot I see a granny-Ann pickin’ up a cake for her granddaughter… or an assortment of cookies and Lotte cinnamon muffin pastries for her book club crew… They’re faithful to this spot! At least the locals are for that matter. I also really dig how on the weekends with whatever you choose to purchase they hook you up with a free assortment of small muffins, croissants and other delectable soft, small goodies. Hopefully when you come by your on some second or third date type tip(wouldn’t really recommend for the first). I’m pretty sure this place closes around 4 or 5. Strictly a breakfast and lunch type of spot, ya dig?! Well, this review is long overdue and I love coming here in the am. Great start to the day, it smells like breakfast kitchen ery’time I step in. Forreal doe, I love it! I love it! I love it! 5 stars fa sho Oh yeah… PARKING Tight TIGHT little lot so be careful entering and exiting. Real easy to bump someone if you’re not paying attention. Street parking is plentiful though.

When I get that feeling, I want croissant healing, Croissant heeeaaalling That’s good for me. When I can’t go to France for the weekend, I bring a part of France to me. Upside: this is my weekend breakfast go to spot. The décor is cute, there’s something for everyone for breakfast. I go here for their pastries, I look forward on Monday to come here on Sunday and have my latte with their FRENCH style pain chocolate aka chocolate croissant. One of the best this city has to offer. This place is family owned and sometimes I see the owner around. There’s 1 hour parking across the street. BUT: read the parking signs. Yes, even on Sunday’s the city gives tickets. Downside: can’t think of one. Au Revoir.

This hidden gem in west Hollywood is a must visit place for breakfast or brunch! The authentic Frech feel really brings a true value to the location. The food was fantastic and the service was very consistent. The croissants and all other desserts are to very well made! I’m looking forward to going back there.

Summary: Mediocre brunch food in a cute French setting with pretty poor service. I had been wanting to come to this place for months, having passed by it daily. Unfortunately the service was pretty poor all around. We had to hunt someone down to seat us, hunt someone down to take our order, hunt someone down to give us the mini pastries. When the food came, it was mediocre at best. The salmon eggs benedict was above average, but the breakfast special was pretty bad — luke-warm scrambled eggs with overcooked bacon. The inside was very cute and French, but we sat outside, meaning our breakfast was filled with the sounds of extremely loud cars on busy Doheny. Would probably not come here again.

It’s been almost 2 years since I first came to this small French café. I started coming here because I left my heart in Paris and was missing there so much. Some of their décor reminded me of a small corner café I enjoyed while I was in Paris. I was initially coming to La Conv. for that sentimental reason as if I was trying to collect missing puzzle pieces to fill in my inner incomplete Paris puzzle, but my relationship with this café has grown since. This place has become a special place for several reasons. This café has a great vibe and brings so much luck. It witnessed so many of my unexpected great events that happened here. My promotion was announced, new contracts signed, introduced to the new field of work; also deep talk with girlfriends, heartfelt advices from my dear gay friends, brunch with long known friends, and I even met a new client here. And many more good things all happened here in the past 2 years. While they bring me so much luck and joy, I enjoy their café au lait just like I did at a café in Paris. Their Croissants are soft and moist and always have a subtle butter flavor. Muffins look always cute and they are crispy outside and moist inside. Their fruits are always fresh and generous serving size. Their omelette? It’s big and very good! Try their quiche at least once, so we can talk about it. Oh yea, can’t forget about miniature croissants and muffins served on weekends. They are way too good! Sometimes I do to-go when I don’t have time to sit down. I ask for their miniature croissants and muffins, and I expect 4 to 5 of them in a bag as that’s their usual serving size on the weekend. But my bag is so full with a whole bunch of the miniature pastries. La Conv, you always make me happy and make me smile a lot. Thank you, La Conversation. You are not only feeding me, but also bringing me strong luck and happiness. I know this can happen to you, too. 5 Stars forever.
