A great location in WeHo with pretty decent offerings. Unfortunately, they are going out of business soon, so I think I’ve paid them my last visit. There place includes a café and a market(hence the name!). The café: They have hot and cold dishes out of the deli case; you order then they heat/cook the items for you. They have breakfast items and sandwiches, pastas and salads. I have enjoyed the items I have tried there, including several salads and pastas. I was not a big fan of the ravioli, but I think it was just a little dried out. The even have cookies and fabulous chocolates! The market: The market has a lot of cool semi-exotic ingredients as well as beverages and chips, snacks and desserts. They go well with the food from the café portion! Cool decorations compliment the space and design and there is even a patio outside to observe the people walking by. To add to the coolness, the people who work here are always nice and friendly! They will be missed!

Yummy. I liked their food and store. The staff was friendly and helpful. I’ve experienced opening a brand new store and closing a store. I can tell you from experience the latter is very difficult because you remember all of where things used to be. So from a customer’s perspective I’ll always remember HM used to be there. I’m actually a little sad that today 01−15−11 is the last day that this store was open. It saddened me to see the signs when I stopped by at the beginning of the new year. So farewell my fave little store in WeHo. You’ll be missed.

omggggg i luv this place! it’s like joan’s on third(but better!) minus the ridiculous high price&NOPARKING&unattentive staff&annoying C-rated celebs&long line. this place is sooooo well-priced for the quality&quantity of food they give u&carry in their selection. everything is good here. plus they have nice imported luxury condiments and specialty pastas&etc. to look at&shop for while u wait for ur food…&their baked goods/desserts are to die for too! i highly recommend it.

When you leave a hard workout at the 24 Hour Fitness across the street, the last thing you want is one of the many brunch offerings on Santa Monica — pancakes, waffles, pastries… and then there’s the healthy, hip Hunger Café. We wandered in on a certificate and were pleasantly surprised — it reminded us of our local market/café(FOOD, on Pico), but larger and with a bit more deli selection. My boyfriend and I decided on mixed plates from the deli — Tandoori chicken breast(OK), antipasto salad(fabulous!), and roasted brussels sprouts(addictive) were my choices; we added some chocolate chip and oatmeal raisin cookies on at the end for a delightful — and acceptably healthy — brunch. I will definitely be back again for the genuinely kind service staff, great selection, and fun atmosphere here at Hunger.

I LOVE this place! I was going to Tender Greens for lunch all the time but we came here one day instead. Their lunch special is great, one skewer and two salads for $ 8! All of the food is really fresh and delicious, and the plate of food for $ 8 is really filling. I have come back to this place on a regular basis.

wow, why is this place so empty?! they had everything i wanted. for $ 8, i got baby back pork ribs, and two farm-fresh sides: small grilled potatoes & brocolli with bacon, cranberries, & pine nuts. they were all so GOOD and really fresh. there were macarons from san francisco too, so i took them to go. there were also other baked goods, sandwiches, drinks, a little market stocked with jams, olives, chocolate, and there were so many other things. there was free wifi, a clean bathroom(lol), and patio space too. the people there were really nice too.

Are you feeling down and depressed about your weight? Do you find yourself wondering how you can Unilocal and still maintain a certain pant size? Well I have just the answer to your problem. Hydroxycut! lol only joking… didn’t you hear? that stuff got recalled. haha Located in the heart of Weho territory.(right down the street from such gay establishments as Rage and Micky’s…if thats not enough encouragement to watch what you eat I don’t know what is.) Walking in here I was intrigued by their interesting dessert counter. Chocolates with Fleur de Sal, macarons, interesting pastries to delight even the pickiest of dessert snobs. My tummy was saying yes, but my head said no. So I listened to my brain for once and turned my attention to the task of finding me sustenance before we had to go to the show. There menu is intriguing. They have quite a few variations and twists on deli type food, as well as pizzas and meat kabobs. I always get their special which for $ 8 bucks consists of a skewered meat kabob and 2 small sides from their deli counter. I like the mixed wild rice and the artichoke salad with the olives in it. My friend had a little pizza which I thought looked quite appetizing. The staff were super attentive and helpful. The moment we entered they welcomed us and helped point us to the menu and the options that were available. Every time i see a deli counter or things behind glass I start to ask questions about every thing. This perturbs a lot of workers most times but they were awesome. I berated them with questions and they answered each and every one of them, and they seemed happy to do so. Note: This place is not for over-eaters. This little gourmet deli has more«realistic» portions for those of us watching our weight. While I’m not that hardcore about what I eat, every now and again I’d like to have a light meal where I don’t feel sleepy afterward. This place is a definite stop when I’m in the area and looking for some«good» and good for you sustenance and service. That alone gets an A in my book.

This place is a great neighborhood find! It’s perfect for take out! The food is really high quality, and excellently prepared. I LOVE the beef kabobs and spicy asian tofu salad. I’ve been several times, and each time the food and service are consistently good! The prices are reasonable, and I like that the portions aren’t obscenely large. The staff is super friendly, and you can get in and out in just a few minutes. Parking can be a little tough, but its definitely worth it!

Hunger is A-OK in my book. They have a great selection of excellent salads and side dishes which can be combined to make a satisfying meal. Various protein skewers are available if you need to get your meat on. On the day I visited, they had some awesome specials. A standout was a cold Brussels sprouts salad — DEELISH! Also, a tasty lemon tart was the perfect ending to a scrumptious casual lunch. The staff was very welcoming. It took me awhile to make my selection(there were so many tempting choices), but the counter man was patient and pleasant. Hunger has an impressive selection of bottled beverages. There are so many, it’s hard to choose. Located in the festive WeHo strip, Hunger is a place I will definitely visit again and again when I’m in town.

The food here is top notch. I am a vegetarian and was still able to find a good number of things to sample. If you do eat meat, i would imagine this place is a must considering the wide selection of dishes. If i lived closer and could walk to this place regularly, I imagine I’d eat there a lot more than I should.

Really neat little gourmet deli on prime real estate in WeHo. Popped in tonight because I needed to eat before a workout but didn’t want to overeat and feel rough while I did cardio. The dinner special was just the trick. For eight dollars you get a skewer and two sides. I chose the pesto chicken with the spicy Asian tofu salad and the mac and cheese. Smallish portion, but it’s a three-course meal for eight dollars, realistically, that’s about right. Not to mention, Americans are ridiculous about their portion sizes anyway, it won’t kill me to have a small dinner every so often. The pesto chicken was tasty but a bit dry, unfortunately. However the tofu salad was delicious and the mac and cheese amazing. It was overall a very good meal, felt healthier than many other options, and for under ten bucks, it was a great choice tonight. This may be a place I eat pre-workout on nights when the timing works out that way. Felt like a good meal with ‘real’ food at a great price. If their pesto chicken were moist, I’d become a fast regular.

A friend turned me onto this place today. First of all, the quantity of bottled beverages here is shocking — even coke from Mexico in big, long bottles. They also have a store in back where you can buy a variety of condiments and packaged food. The food was great. I had the chicken curry kabab, broccoli salad and a bean/mozerella salad. Very tasty. I couldn’t resist getting an empanada which was also great, kind of a chili beef thing going on there. I also had a side of tomatillo sauce which has a garlicky punch — took one to go too, figuring it’ll keep in the fridge. Staff is über friendly and the place is very clean. Good for a quick sit down bite but I’ll be going back to grab some stuff to take home for dinner.

I stopped in on a Sunday afternoon and ordered one of their pizzas and a bottled drink. The pizza was tasty, service was prompt and reasonably priced. The space is clean with indoor and outdoor seating. I will definately be back

Really nice café to get lunch or dinner. The customer service is great and they helped me pick out a good side salad to go with my sandwich. You can’t beat the prices, very reasonable. I had a sandwich and side salad for $ 8. Every time I’ve been in here they have a different selection of fresh salads.

I was in Weho and needed to grab lunch so I went to Hunger. I ordered the tuna sandwich and a side of the broccoli salad and potato salad. Everything was really tasty and fairly priced. The tuna salad had a nice flavor to it and didn’t taste like every tuna salad I had before. Food was fresh. Nice environment too with plenty of seating inside and out. They also have a market area with a nice selection of gourmet foods.

I came with a girlfriend on Monday for a bite of lunch, I’m glad we did. The café/market is clean, well lit, and set up nicely with indoor or out door seating. The ham pannini I ordered had wonderful fruit /mustard dressing, very unexpectedly a well balance of flavors. The mac n combo of cheese, crispy top and creamy insides, I think I tasted some garlic, deee-lish, followed by a bubbly orange soda. My friend had the chicken and veggie pizza w carmelized onions, red and yellow bell peppers and mabe a feta cheese(?), we polished that sucker off fast, mmmm. :) Desserts looked tasty but we were a bit full, next time boy’s. I like the concept. Great, FRESH, organic ingredients, house made modern healthy comfort food’s, & ready when you are. Another reason to drive past McDonald’s. Kudos!

Walked over to Hunger Market for lunch today. Its only been open for a little while and it seems like the kinks are still being worked out but, promising none-the-less. I checked out the somewhat strangely setup space and my observations were thus: — good selection of drinks in the cold-cases, teas, red bull, etc — didn’t notice any soft drinks from Coke or Pepsi, not that its a bad thing. — some interesting cheeses and cured meats in the back, as well as gourmet condiments and spices. — the counter area with the food in it is a bit hard to deal with, there are dozens of things inside from prepared sandwich samples(they make them fresh but, show samples) to salads, flat bread pizzas etc… I was offered tastes of just about anything I vaguely showed an interest in — there is soup but, nowhere does it say what soup is in residence and when asking, the person behind the counter didn’t know and had to check. Chicken rice today. So, I ordered a small chicken rice soup(8oz for $ 3.50) and a pulled pork grilled sandwich(more than enough for $ 8.50). The soup was good, however it didn’t taste like chicken /rice to me — nor did it really look like chicken and rice. There were green beans in it and no obvious bits of chicken but, some tiny bits of rice. Whatever, it tasted good. Two thumbs up for the mystery soup. The pork sandwich thing had an, um, interesting flavor profile as well. It was unseasoned meat with lots of grilled veggies and some sort of sauce(maybe cheese) and didn’t have a strong flavor — but — it was obviously fresh(which is good because thats the shtick here)…I guess I was just a bit disappointed by the overly subtle flavors. A resounding«meh» for the pork sandwich. Some really lovely grainy mustard would have made it more enjoyable, or maybe a splash of bbq sauce. All in all, not bad, but not stellar either. Hopefully as they get their legs under them, they will earn more stars from me. I will certainly be wiling to give them another shot in a few weeks time.
