F&O is the way to go for me. The refreshing ambiance and fresh food was impressive. Both were effortlessly chic. Simplicity and deliciousness at it’s finest. The white interior was tasteful, and it was just the perfect place for a lunch date with my sorority sister. We both loved it. The crostinis were amay and the potato croquettes were to die for. The service/server wasn’t spectacular but definitely didn’t have any complaints. The ONLYONLY kicker was the parking. The parking gods were working in my favor this day. Right as I was pulling up to valet, a street spot opened(along with the gates of heaven). Valet is a must, although I HATE to valet. I will definitely be returning to Fig&Olive. Make reservations if you are going after 5.

I had dinner at Fig & Olive recently with a few friends, and while the food was delicious, the service was lacking. We had reservations for a Friday night, and even though we arrived a little early, we weren’t seated until an hour after our reservation time! We waited by the bar during that time, and I had the raspberry mojito and rosselini, both which I liked. After a while, we made our way back to the front, and the staff ended bringing out some champagne for us having to wait so long. They also offered us crostinis on the house. We started off with the complimentary crostinis and also ordered a few more. They were delicious! We tried all of them, and my favorites were the proscuitto with ricotta, fig, olive, and walnut, the shrimp with avocado, tomato and cilantro, and the manchego, fig, and marcona almond crostinis. Each one was a perfect bite with unique flavors. For appetizers, we shared the fig gorgonzola tartlet and the sea scallops. The tartlet was tasty! It was really light, and the proscuitto and gorgonzola were complemented well by the sweet fig. The sea scallops were also delicious! I would’ve liked if it were seared just a tiny bit longer, but I still enjoyed them very much. For my entrée, I had the chilean sea bass, and I loved it! It was melt-in-your-mouth tender. The vegetables were simple yet tasty. I also tried some of the lamb chops and filet mignon, which were pretty good. The lamb wasn’t too gamey, which I liked. We finished the meal with fig and olive tasting, which came with pear crostini, chocolate pot de crème, crunchy praline & chestnut mousse. It was hard to share since each one was bite-sized, but it ended up being fine because we were so full. The desserts were good but nothing was amazing. Service during this entire time was lacking though. We hardly saw our waiter, and whenever we needed something or wanted to order more drinks, we had to wait quite a while. It also took a long time for us to get our food and drinks, and the server never seemed apologetic. We also had to ask for our drinks multiple times. Overall, we really enjoyed the food but wasn’t pleased with the service. For the price we paid, we expected a lot more! We also waited forever. The dinner took about 3 hours, and the majority of it was just waiting!

I love F&O’s vibe! It’s intimate /cozy(upstairs) but still buzzing with a ton of peeps(downstairs & outside area). The perfect balance between intimate /hanging out with friends. I wish i remembered what exactly we ordered as far as food, which was good but not so superb, but the drinks are very tasty :)

After a less than mediocre dinner at Fig and Olive last November, management reached out to address some of the issues I raised. It’s interesting to read other updated Unilocal reviews that were also previously contacted by the manager. Most end up raving about their recent dining experience due to the attentiveness of the Fig and Olive staff, but one can’t help but wonder if this is biased by the fact that they know you are returning. Ironically, my reservation with the manager was lost so I got to see how service truly was without any bias and I have to say that the whole experience was much better this time around. I went this past Saturday for dinner and the restaurant was busy as expected. It was also the last weekend for DineLA so it was probably even busier than normal, but the food and service were a huge improvement from last time. Between two people, we ordered one DineLA set($ 39)(octopus for appetizer, branzino for entrée, and chestnut cherry mouse for dessert), a beef carpaccio appetizer($ 17), and a filet mignon entrée($ 44). Not only did everything taste delicious, but the food came out in a very timely manner as well. Medium rare was actually medium rare this time and the entrees took no more than 15 minutes after we finished our appetizers(last time we waited close to an hour). It’s shocking how different the two nights were, but I guess it goes to show that everybody has their good days and their bad days. I’m updating my review to my original rating because what I experienced last time may have just been a one time thing and even if it happens here and there, it’s nice to know that Fig and Olive’s management makes it a point to rectify their mistakes so your most recent experience with them is a good one. After this last dinner, I would gladly return. It’s definitely on the pricier side, but everybody deserves to splurge every once in awhile :)

This place was so cute inside, but the food was a little disappointing. I came here for lunch on a Sunday during dineLA week. I tried the croquettes, paella, and chocolate pot de crème($ 25). The croquettes were good, but so are most things fried with potato and cheese. The paella was SOOO disappointing. My rice was swimming in liquid, which made it super soggy and tasted like porridge. The shrimp and mussels weren’t bad, but couldn’t make up for the bad texture of the rice. Luckily the meal ended on a high note with the chocolate pot de crème. The dessert was super rich and I wish there was more crème on top, but it was really good with the hazelnut wafer thing. The regular menu looks pretty appetizing, but I definitely won’t be ordering the paella again.

Had the Jan 2016 DineLA 3 course meal. Liked the entrees — Branzino & Jidori Chicken. Butternut Squash Soup was ok/fine. Chestnut Mousse & Pot de Crème(chocolate) was decent. Good, but not great. Service, excellent. Valet parking is $ 8.

I’ve always loved Fig and Olive for its openness and ambiance. It seems like it’s always a beautiful spring day inside this restaurant; bright, white, and spacious. Although the tables are actually quite close together, the high ceilings and large glass doors and windows give you the illusion that you are sitting outside on a sunny spring day. I made reservations for a Sunday afternoon to eat lunch at the famous Fig and Olive. We were seated a few minutes after checking in for our reservation. The restaurant was extremely busy with people lunching and, of course, taking advantage of the dineLA menu. Our server brought out our menus and gave us some time with them to decide. From the dineLA lunch menu we chose: isalata di fregola, croqueta brava, grilled thyme chicken paillard, paella del mar, desert«crostini», and chocolate pot de crème. This menu was definitely a bang for the buck. For $ 25/person, Fig and Olive included a 3 course menu with some of their top selling items. On the side we ordered crostini tasting(an addition of $ 9) and an order of the brussels sprouts. Crostini tasting: this restaurant features an array of crostini topped with all kinds of goodies. On the regular menu, three crostini is $ 12. A three dollar saving sounds good to me! The goat cheese caramelized onion and chive crostini was topped with a lot of grilled onion. It was a bit too much onion for me so i scooped about half of it off. The goat cheese was creamy and the onions added a nice sweetness to the crostini. The manchego, fig, and marcona almond crostini was just the perfect amount of sweet and savory. The manchego was similar to a jack cheese and its crumbly texture with the creaminess of the fig and the crunch of the almond was heavenly. Last but not least the the shrimp, avocado, cilantro, and tomato crostini was my favorite. I nice balance of creamy avocado and a big shrimp layered on the crunchy crostini bread. This is a very creative way to illustrate all the different types of flavors and textures the restaurant has to offer. I would recommend trying the crostini tasting. Insalata di fregola: the waiter warned us that this dish was not really a traditional salad. The appetizer was filled with fregola sarda, roasted butternut squash, celery, mint, parsley, pickled red onion, dried cranberry, and a citrus dressing. The fregola pasta was tender but still firm to the bite. The veggies were light and the citrus dressing was tangy and flavorful. This dish had layers of flavor and a nice bite. Croqueta brava: potato croquettes with parmesan, smoked mozzarella scallion, and served with pimenton aioli and arbequina olive oil. The potato croquettes were fried to perfection, they were crispy to the bite and soft and creamy on the inside. The pimenton aioli was a delicious sauce it was super smooth; the olive oil and paprika and garlic added tons of flavor to these delicious little bite size croquettes. Grilled thyme chicken paillard: this dish was grilled chicken breast with lemon and thyme, artichoke broccolini, scallion, eggplant, tomato and red bell pepper marmalade, black olives, and arbequina olive oil. It was served with a spring green salad dressed with the same olive oil on the side. The chicken itself was tender, though a bit under-seasoned. I felt that this dish was a tad bland, especially for the vast amount of olive oils served here. Paella del mar: this dish was filled with black tiger shrimp, sea scallop, calamari, mussels, saffron rice, green pea, red bell pepper, artichoke, saffron aioli, pimenton, oregano and hojiblanca olive oil. This dish did not really blow my mind. The seafood was good but the saffron rice was a bit overcooked and lacking that wow factor. Desert«crostini»: a pistachio shortbread cookie spread with mascarpone cheese and amarena cherry. The shortbread cookies were a bit dense and sugary; it seemed as if it was packaged and not fresh. The mascarpone was a nice flavor contrast with the cookie and the tartness of the cherries were a good flavor combination. Chocolate pot de crème: this desert was a decadent little cup of a version of thick chocolate mouse and vanilla cream served with a crunchy praline francier. I dug deep in the cup with my spoon to get both the chocolate and vanilla flavors. This dish was very rich, but very delicious. All in all, Fig and Olive is a modern, open, and very original dining experience. Though we ordered a side order of the brussels sprouts, our waiter forgot to bring them out. In their place we ordered two coffees(we were too full by the time we noticed), a latte and a cappuccino. The parking is valet, its really difficult to find street parking in this area. My overall experience was a 4⁄5.

Fig & Olive has a beautiful, open dining space that manages to bring the outside in with sweeping windows and warm colors. I had lunch here with my best friend and we just barely made it before they closed for their lunch service but they kindly seated us anyway and never made us feel rushed. This place was meant to be quiet the treat for us so we tried quite a selection from their menu. Bread & Olive sampler: three different olive oils ranging in depth of flavor served with fresh bread! It’s bread, of course it’s good! Carpaccio Zucchini: this was ascetically stunning but the flavor profile is very delicate so you’re not missing anything if you don’t order it. Truffle Mushroom Croquette: best thing I ate here! So good! Think about the croquettes served at Portos but a million times better! The sauce their served in will blow your socks off! Paella Del Mar: good but paella is so difficult to perfect and I don’t think it belongs on the menu at Fig & Olive Riviera Salmon: well cooked salmon but the real winner was the green sauce that accompanied it, so good! Dessert Crostini: the crostini reminded me of those holiday shortbread cookies that come in those metal tins, ya know what I’m talking about? Yummy but not unique. Panna Cotta A L’orange: the consistency was off for me and the orange was really sweet and over powering. Not my favorite. The service at Fig & Olive is excellent and they have some fine dishes on their menu if you don’t mind splurging a bit.

Solid place go get lunch on a weekend. My friend and I made reservations to try out this place during DineLA, and we were overall satisfied with our experience here. The place is spacious and filled and decorated with wine. It has high ceilings and lots of sunlight. There is also a second flood for an overflow of diners. The workers there are super friendly, and are pretty good with coming to your table often. Although I may have to warn you that our overall lunch was around 2 ½ hours long to do a three course meal. We didn’t mind(because it was a good rest time inbetween), but if you do care about time, take that into consideration. The food was great as well. They always serve bread(refillable) with three different kinds of olive oil. Their appetizers like the potato croquettes are a must have! crispy but soft, and super tasty. I ordered their seafood paella, and was pleasantly surprised and the amount of seafood was on the plate! I got to try my friend’s chicken plate, and it was also quite delicious. The only downfall to consider is the parking.(there is none) Literally really hard to find street parking during lunchtime on the weekends. So expect to walk a bit. I mean you can always just get it valeted, but that’ll cost you a hefty fee especially in this part of the neighborhood. Good thing is, it is close to Alfred’s Coffee, which I would also recommend to try once since you’re right there anyway.

what a disappointing experience… I’ve always wanted to try this place but never got a chance, i saw that they had a deal at travelzoo, so i went ahead and got it, and was very excited to finally come here! so excited that i got there 20 mins early… but was told that the table won’t be ready till my reservation time(while more than half of the restaurant was empty), sure… i had a couple drinks at the bar — it was happy hour! 20 mins later, we were told that our table was ready, and got led upstairs… it was so weird upstairs, dark, a completely different environment, an outdated bar, just one server running around, and the tables were all wobbly(we complained twice, and saw other tables also complained about the same thing — no help, our table was wobbly the entire night). we waited about 15 mins for the only waiter to bring us menu, 15 more mins for him to come over and take our orders, 20 mins for our first cocktails to come, another 20 mins for the food to finally STARTED to come… i am not kidding. on top of that, that only server was way overly excited, winked too much, and had really bad breath. food itself were all pretty good, although not hot enough. we did enjoy everything…(except the temperature — which made me think that the foods were all sitting at the counter waiting to be served for quite a long time…) everyone of us got ‘placed’ upstairs all seem pretty impatience and not happy. the whole thing was just not pleasant. i believe that their management really need to work on a lot of things… i hope they are reading this! i would probably still try the one in Newport Beach if i have a chance… maybe i have better luck there!

Let’s see… this seems to be the Thirsty Thursday night hangout spot for a lot of people. It was packed in there. My friend made a reservation and we were seated near the bar, at least close enough to be waited on by one of the bartenders. We started off with iced teas, and then ordered a mix of the Crostini’s to share. My favorite was the Octopus/hummus/pimento. The Prosciutto/Ricotta/Fig/Olive/Walnut is a must try as well. My third was the Grilled Leek/Romesco/Hazelnut, which I wasn’t a fan of. When our food was brought to the table, we were still missing our plates, silverware, and table napkins. That’s when I went searching for it. Took the napkins from the side of the bar and then asked the bartenders working at the bar for the rest. One of the bartenders came over to check on us, when they realized they forgot these things. Parking in the area is a bust. Best bet is to valet park your vehicle. It’s not worth your time trying to find parking on a busy night. It’s worth checking out. This could have been a 5 star experience. I gave this a 4 because we weren’t offered bread and olive oil… when it’s complimentary. We had to ask for it.

Prix Fixe Menu Lunch menu is what I got. It was amazing. The Butternut Squash & Chestnut Velout was delicate and the taste was superb. Riviera Salmon was my second selection it was cooked to perfection and the flavor was light and at the same type savory. My third section was the Amarena Cherry Crostini. It was good. I also had a latte and that was yummy as well. The ambiance was nice: LA lifestyle. I wish the table were a bit more seperated form other parties. I could listen to my neighbors conversation.

Service and ambience were great, and the food was tasty! My friends and I went for the dineLA, so we just picked off of that menu. The waiter was so kind and patient with us as our entire party did not arrive at the same time. I really enjoyed the bread and olive oil they served while we were waiting for our food, and they even had three different types of oil. I was thoroughly amused, and this was probably my favorite part of the meal(only because I REALLYLIKEMYOLIVEOILANDBREAD). As for the appetizer, the potato croqueta was delicious, and the flavor and texture were just right. For my main dish, I ordered the paella del mar with scallops, and the seafood was the highlight of the dish. For the dessert«crostini», the cherries were a little empowering as they were very sweet; however the other elements in this dish were pleasant. Overall, I enjoyed the dining experience at Fig & Olive, and

This place had a really lovely interior. It was beautiful, comfortable, and chic. The branzino was delicious and I really loved my paella. Their sample dessert(4 mini desserts) was fantastic because you get a small portion of four desserts! Great place for date night or to celebrate something special. Service was just ok.

Parking in this area, Melrose Place, is always a challenge, but we came in early enough that we were able to find street metered parking on the next street, Melrose Ave. Melrose Place was closed on this day because they had farmer’s market. I had to make reservations because there were 18 of us even though it was for brunch. I am glad they seated us in the atrium because the lighting was perfect. With a family our size, we were able to order a variety of things and there was a lot of sharing going around. Slice bread with a sampling of different olive oils was a great way for us to pass time while waiting to get our food orders taken and served. Two different kinds Bruchetta Appetizer Samplers, one with seafood and the other with cured meats, were great. I tried them all and did not find one bad one. The kid’s meal is chicken that was grilled perfectly, full of flavor and was juicy. I ordered the Branzino and it was very good. The salmon dish was great. I love how the skin was crispy. You have to leave room for dessert! The sampler was great!!! The servers were patient and did not rush us. The front desk host and hostess also did not bat a lash when we were told we won’t be able to maneuver our strollers to our reserved seating area and we then now had to leave our strollers at the front. So sorry for cramping people’s style!!! But they were very cool about it.

Wow, from the moment I entered Fig & Olive to the moment I left, my dining experience was nothing short of beautiful and fantastic. The décor is absolutely lovely and reminds me of the South of France. There seemed to be more greenery indoors than there was outside! The service was friendly and very attentive – the waiters would automatically fill my water glass every time it reached about half full! I felt very well taken care of. Onto the food! We started off with a six crostini appetizer. Every single one was delicious and addicting. My favorite was the goat cheese, caramelized onion, and chive crostini! It had the perfect balance of savory and tangy from the goat cheese, and sweet from the caramelized onion. I could eat a plate of those alone for a meal and be done with it. The Fig & Olive Salad was a fun and delicious medley of manchego, gorgonzola, fig, thin strips of apple, tomato, olive romain, mesclun, and scallion, tossed with a light fig balsamic/olive oil dressing and walnut pieces to give it the perfect amount of crunch. Seriously, a perfect salad. The Burrata & Heirloom Beet appetizer was light and fresh. It was a beautiful plate of burrata, roasted heirloom baby beet, tardivo radicchio, strips of apple, and pickled onion toasted hazelnut drizzled with a honey apple cider dressing. For my main entrée, I had the Chilean Sea Bass which was absolutely delicious. It was a perfectly cooked sea bass marinated with lemon thyme, carrot, asparagus, celery root purée sitting on top of a roasted potato charmoula mascarpone and harissa olive oil emulsion. My mouth is watering just thinking about this dish again. I tried some of the Mediterranean Branzino and although it was also good, I enjoyed my sea bass way more because of its fluffy and buttery texture. I also tried the filet mignon and the rosemary lamb chops. Both were cooked at a perfect medium and both absolute winners. For dessert we enjoyed the Chocolate Fondant with candied orange & vanilla ice cream. It had a crunchy outer shell with silky chocolate liquid inside. Paired with the ice cream, it was a great dessert to end a fantastic meal. As a final note, Fig & Olive is a perfect restaurant for ANY occasion, whether it be a romantic date or a happy evening with family and friends. I had a great night with my family and it was definitely a dinner to remember.

Err. Mahh. Gerd. Why did I wait so long to try Fig & Olive?!? This is officially my new favorite spot! The food was amazing and our waitress was THENICEST waitress ever. We started with 3 crostinis: shrimp, octopus and gorgonzola. All the crostinis were great but the gorgonzola was probably my favorite. For our appetizer, we shared the Fall Sea Scallops. The scallops were perfectly seared and came with cauliflower, semolina and raisins. For our entrees, we got the Rosemary Lamb Chops and Filet Mignon. Both dishes were remarkable. The lamb chops were smoked in rosemary and were very tender. Definitely a must order dish. The filet mignon came with olive oil chive mashed potatoes and arbequina olive oil béarnaise. This was great but my only complaint is that the steak was medium and not medium rare. For dessert we got the Chocolate Fondant that came with vanilla ice cream. This was nothing short of amazing. My tastebuds were happy by the time I left. Will be back to try all the other dishes! P. S. The complimentary bread that comes with 3 different types of olive oils is soooo goood!!!

My significant otter and I frequent Fig & Olive. I wanted to write a 5 star review the first time I came here because I was just blown away, but I procrastinated and today — Fig & Olive is still as amazing as the first time. Fig & Olive offers that classic, elegant candlelit dinner with courteous waiters who still pull out chairs for the ladies and switch your used utensils to clean ones halfway through the meal. Meals always start with their olive oil tasting. *air kiss* The olive oil selection changes weekly so we are always trying new ones. For the most part, I am against appetizers. What gluttonous society needs to eat food before eating food? Well, the only time I make an exception to get appetizers is here at Fig & Olive. The crostinis are a must-have! My favorite is the shrimp+avocado+cilantro, my boyfriend likes his goat cheese and manchego crostini. 6 for only $ 24! We usually get the steak, which comes with scrumptious mashed potatoes. My boyfriend sometimes goes with the Rosemary lambchops but I can’t stand the smell(the smoke tends to stay in my hair). The desserts change from time to time so I can’t make an exact recommendation for it might be gone next month. However, every dessert is made to WOW you and your date, so you can never make the wrong choice!

Fig and Olive is known to be an amazing brand across the board. The epitome of luxury paired with Farm to Table. I’m so lucky to have started off at the BH location. Melrose is any girl’s dream and it has a ton of restaurants in the area to exceed your expectations. I started off with a drink before perusing the menu. They had some sort of rose twist to it which I really enjoyed. Their dishes are on the smaller side and I had a pretty long day at work so I was extremely hungry. I opted for the lamb which was served in the coolest way possible. It was still sizzling when it arrived to our table(they lit the rosemary). There were about three chops, which lived up to its description. The gnocchi was also very tasty and I wish there were more of it. All in all, I would have ordered an appetizer to keep me full because I don’t like to indulge in the bread baskets restaurants usually provide. Oh and the olive oil is just amazingly pure!

I’ve been to Fig & Olive in Fashion Island, and I was not impressed. However, I recently went to the WeHo location, and I really enjoyed my meal & service. This location is on the corner of La Cienega and Melrose Place. I ordered the paella($ 31), and I was expecting an Americanized version w/overcooked seafood. What I received was saffron infused arborio rice, w/tender calamari, moist mussels, succulent scallops & nicely cooked shrimp. Despite the dish being a tad overpriced, I was stuffed afterwards: 4 Stars. Regarding the ambiance, Fig & Olive is a pretty place decked out in white from top to bottom. There is a long bar as you enter, and a lounge area. The lounge area seems more roomy vs Fashion Island, however the dining area seems smaller. Nonetheless, its a good date place, or a place to have a late business dinner like my friends: 4 Stars. Likewise, the service from Jade our waitress was excellent. She was attentive, informative, and hawt: 5 Stars. If I need to be in the WeHo area, Fig & Olive is definitely on my list. I like it better compared to the Fashion Island location. That location has a rep for women trying to land a big fish, or rich, ugly guys trying to holla(I’m poor and ugly, so I don’t fall into that category — LMAO!). I will definitely be back!!!
