The Bossa Bolognesa(to-go) was pretty good. Bossa Nova’s Eat24 menu is more updated than the Unilocal menu, which was a bit frustrating. For instance I would have gotten the penne, but on Eat24, it said the Penne was wheat based. Instead, I ordered it with tortiglioni pasta(narrower rigatoni), which isn’t even on the Unilocal menu. For all of the annoyance of menu differences, the dish was good, but I couldn’t really taste the pancetta.

Went in for late night dinner after work at 230 am and the guy yelled at me for trying to sit down what a dick. The picanha was tough and staff was unwelcoming, won’t be going back here ever again. Don’t go here it’s ghetto.

I ordered lasagna from Bossa Nova for delivery while in LA last week. I was really confused by the menu… I thought this restaurant was supposed to be Brazilian? Instead I just saw a bunch of pasta dishes. So I chose the lasagna I guess. It was 11:30PM, I was jetlagged as hell and exhausted from my flight from the east coast. It took about 40 minutes to deliver my food, which felt a bit long seeing how my hotel was down the street and it was so late at night, but it was understandable and I don’t fault them on that. The lasagna though, was not very good. It was really, REALLY salty. And I don’t have a lght palette either. I ended up paying around $ 27 for it plus tip and delivery fee, which just seemed ridiculous for very subpar lasagna. LA has really good food. I would move to LA for the food. But Bossa Nova is not a restaurant that I would move to LA for, at least based on my delivery experience.

Do not order using their online option. They even said that they do not receive them sometimes. We waited an hour and our order never came so we called and they never even got the order from online even after it charged me and took out the money from my account. I had to reorder from them over the phone and they even got the order wrong when it finally came. The man on the phone talked a million miles a minute and would not let me finish talking when I tried to tell him what I wanted to order. I’m talking simple orders of salad here. I had to repeat myself so many times. The salads were not worth all the trouble we went through to get them. The dressing I had on mine was not right and tasted funny. How do you mess up a salad? Will never get food here again.

The restaurant is located at the went area! We walked by and got attracted by the nice al fresco area decorated with lots of rainbow flags! We ordered blackened shrimp and sea food salad, the portion was pretty good! In terms of the flavor, blackened shrimp is good, but not amazing. The salad lacks flavor and tastes kinda plain.

I really like Bossa Nova and don’t understand the hate. I’m fine with hating things for any number of reasons, in fact it’s what gets me through my day, but the food here is good! I really like the Caesar Salad and the Seafood Pasta. They’re delicious every time and have never let me down. Plus the waiters here are very helpful and pour cheese on the pasta and salad if requested. They make it rain cheese! What more could you ask for? It’s also right across from The Abbey which makes for good conversation and/or eye candy. I came here the night gay marriage was legalized in California and it was amazing. And I’ve been here many times after that.

Not even close. This place doesn’t resemble Brazilian food, which as a Brazilian, I can attest to. The yucca fries were drier than sin and bland and to cover up the taste, they insist on putting Parmesan cheese on top, something never done. They were out of pao de queijo. You should never be out of pao de queijo. Which is why I came. The coxinha was sub par but the highlight of my meal. The dough was not too thick, which pleasantly surprised me, but I would hope so considering this small snack was $ 5. The cheese inside was visibly separated from the chicken which is incorrect, to add to that, it wasn’t melted at all. I’m assuming it wasn’t authentic catupiri. On top of that, service was meh. I don’t mean to be so harsh but being a Brazilian with over 3 years of service experience, this place made me cringe. I continue my search for good Brazilian food in LA.

I have yet to taste something here that I don’t like. The prices and portions are reasonable. There always seems to be a long wait, but probably because the food is so delicious. I like the fact that they now have a covered, heated waiting area outside.

Let me start by saying I’ve been to every Bossa Nova location in LA except this one and it’s easy to say I love Bossa Nova. Oddly enough I will never come back to this location. My friend reserved The entire indoor section of the restaurant for her birthday because she anticipated 20 – 30 people to come. I was the first to arrive so I got preferential seating LOL. The server was great and did everything he could to accommodate us. He explain if we wanted to split checks it will be what best to wait for majority of everyone to arrive because the check could only be split up five different ways and it will be easier to do that when everyone has ordered. We agreed. Bossa Nova will usually get a five star rating from me however the bathroom at this location was simply saddening(see my videos/pictures). There was only one bathroom that was made to be shared between both men and women. To add to that, the bathroom was so pouring cheap looking on the inside that I found it to be simply trashy. At no other bossa nova restaurant do they have one bathroom for unisex purpose is that looks like it’s the local gas station’s bathroom or one found inside a 7Eleven store. Also because of that area of this Bossa Nova sits in(West Hollywood) the menu is slightly different and is made to look more fancy and elegant. This leads to slightly higher prices. So I’m essentially paying for the same food I can get at another location but a crappy or interior ambience and a trashy unisex bathroom– that’s horrible. The food taste and quality was the same and it was a friendly experience with employees however the interior ambience and that poor excuse for a bathroom have made this location a three-star experience for me and I will likely never return to this location. I am still a great fan of Bossa Nova and will continue to frequent their other locations in Los Angeles

2nd time within 4 months and the following lead to 2 stars. Waited for about 8 minutes before we received water. Asked for additional ground yucca and was charged $ 2. Like being charged for extra lettuce in a burger. Black beans a bit watered-down. Should of had a bit more viscosity, thick texture as traditionally cooked. Service… should have hired the well dressed gentlemen that approached the restaurant with a smile looking for a job.

Came here for some drunk munchies. I think we would have been better off with pizza though. The food was just okay along with the experience. I had a Caesar salad with chicken, nothing special. Wasn’t good or bad. I ate healthy:-) my friends plates on the other hand kind of sucked. One of my friends ordered a steak, well. It was well, but really toughh. I like steak but couldn’t eat it for him. The fries and the mash potatoes were good though. That’s about it though, fries needed ketchup, but didn’t see any around. I forgot what my my other friend had but he had plantains as a side dish, he said they were good. We were in such a hurry to get to the airport, we didn’t realize the server had brought out the wrong check until minutes later in the car. Overall, everything was okay, not sure I’ll be back though.

Yesterday I dined on the blackened chicken with roasted peppers, onions and mushrooms in a slightly spicy brown sauce served with mashed potatoes. The meal itself was quite tasty, even though I requested no mushrooms. Our server was very outgoing and helpful. He answered the questions we had about various items on the menu. The suggestions regarding our meal selections were on point.

Delivery Experience: We know that an in restaurant experience can be different than delivery. So before my eating clean journey I decided to binge pit on some of favs including my pesto chicken pasta. It arrived about 60 mins after I ordered my food. I was worried about the portion sizes because you usually get ripped off. Well not this time… The portion size was good and pesto sauce was even greater which made my pasta super oily. Of course I couldn’t eat all of it so the next morning I was excited about my leftovers. It had to be about 1⁄3 cup oil in my plate. O they are also using this new credit card system which needs a signal. Well I had to follow the delivery guy downstairs with my cc for the charge… can we say inconvenient. I actually enjoy Bossa but this experience was average.

To be honest, I probably go here twice a month at the very least. The lover and I come here after a night filled with drinks. This is probably the only place she could actually eat a whole plate and some to herself.(People always say she eats like a bird, but this place… it makes her eat like it’s the end of the world.) We love this place.

So whatever. Only came here because we wanted to go dancing at the Abbey but didn’t want to eat there. Mistake. The cheese bread is great as usual but the service was so not okay. We had to chase a different server almost 20 minutes later for our Sangria because ours was pretending we didn’t exist. Good thing we got the Sangria before the entrees… It really filled in the additional 20– to 30-minute gap. The Chicken Skewers were super dry. It’s not a good sign when the best things on the plate are the plantains and the beans. The Picanha was significantly better — at least they got the medium rare right. How does a restaurant like this survive in prime-time real estate across from the iconic Abbey!!! The world may never know.

My housemates and I have been in the Bossa Nova neighborhood & big fans for over a year now which is what made this entire situation extremely disappointing… I was charged 3 times for the same meal. Over $ 120 dollars of additional charges were put on my debit card. So what was really just a $ 60 meal ended up costing me over $ 200. The additional charges have since been credited back but those funds will not be available in my account for a few more days. At the very least Bossa Nova should have called and given us a heads up about the charging error that was made. Not acknowledging their mistake or having the courtesy to let us know has lost them three loyal customers.

If your hours of operation say until 11:30 pm then I shouldn’t be getting turned away at 11:10 pm. And when I make sure I wasn’t making the mistake about the hours I check the sign and point it out to the employee and he just shrugged. Find some new employees because I haven’t been back to this location because the service has been horrible and apparently it hasn’t changed…

Placed an order for delivery and was given an estimated delivery time of an hour. Two hours passed and I had not received the food. When I called to ask about the situation they said the food would arrive in 10 minutes. 10 minutes later still no food. I called to cancel the order and the person on the phone didn’t even apologize for any inconvenience. Really disappointed in the customer service. Really confused as to why delivery is even an option.

This is probably my favorite Bossa Nova location, especially if you sit in the patio area. It’s perfect for people watching. This place is located right across from The Abbey in West Hollywood. The chicken here is juicy and flavorful. It’s served with 3 sides. I love the broccoli rice for a side dish and the carnival salad is delicious, especially if you’re a vegetarian. The cheeseballs are a must if you’re a cheese lover. Also, the sangria is refreshing here. It’s good with everything and anything. This place stays open late, so it’s a perfect place to sober up after a night of debauchery. The parking is terrible in this area. There’s street parking, if you’re lucky or just valet your car. It’s usually about $ 10 during the weekends.

What is Brazilian here? The meat is not, and the french fries in the salad? I never had french fries noodles in Brazil… Some of the pasta dishes are decent, nothing to write home about. Beer was VERY flat, oh yeah, its the only one on tap. We used to love the late hours but recently we just cross the street and get better meal at Norms, sorry.

You know I had never realized this restaurant even existed before last week because when I’m in this general area I always bee-lined it to the abbey. So when a friend of mine suggested to eat here I was pretty intrigued. We came at the perfect time around 7pm in the evening on a friday. Soon after we noticed the entire restaurant was filled up and there was a long line out the door. The restaurant is an outside patio seating; I really didn’t see any inside dining. But the outside was lovely for a warm evening. A bit dark on the mood lighting though, had to find light to properly see the menu. We ordered the grilled items, chicken and salmon and had the fried yucca appetizer along with a syrah. Yucca was super yummy, came with ketchup but was good by itself and was a ver big portion. I liked how it wasn’t oily to the touch, my friend even questioned whether it was actually fried. The main courses were huge as it came with so many sides. I opted for the veggies and added plantains, but it also came with salsa and some grain I really didn’t recognize. The salmon was perfectly cooked, had a nice smokey flavor and paired well with the salsa. The veggies were different types of squashes and eggplant. And the plantains were sweet and not too soft. The only problem was their tables were way too small for the plate size and we had to rearrange everything a few times in order for things to fit. The syrah was highly recommended by our server and it did not disappoint. Full bodied and flavorful with a smooth finish. Service was pretty good, although around the end of our meal it was a bit difficult to flag our waitress down because they got pretty busy. But overall a good dinner.

Out of the whim, we decided to try out this place. We came about an hour before closing time, and we were seated promptly. The waiter brought out bread and olive oil, and our beers and waters. Their Brazilian beer is pretty good. I had Xinga, which is a dark beer with a smooth taste. My meal was delicious. The beef skewers were juicy and very tasty. The plantains were some of the most delicious I’ve had thus far. The veggies and salsa added a nice kick to the entire experience. I didn’t try the beans because I was stuffed by the time I finished the rest of the meal. The customer service was on point, and the seating was awesome. This place is located just across the street from The Abbey, and the seating is all in the outside patio. I will repeat in the near future.

I’ve been to several bossa nova restaurants and this one had to be the worst. I love bossa nova! I had the Diego seabass with risotto. Risotto was seriously undercooked and overly salty. The fish was overly cooked and got to a point where the outer crust was so chewy and hard to swallow. My husband had the chicken rio platter — it was salty fajita with dry ass chicken. It was the saddest dish. The beans and rice was bleh too. How do you eff up beans and rice? The only reason we even ended up eating our meal was bc we were waiting in line for 1.5 hours! It was 10pm by the time we got our meal. Granted today was a big day for the area since SCOTUS ruled that gay marriage is a constitutional right. The restaurant was packed! I was happy to be in the area to celebrate the special day but was so unhappy with the service. Eventually I was given half off on my meal but I much would rather have had good satisfying food. The experience that tipped the scale for this review was the server! In the off chance that he had to come by and check on us, he looked at my meal and observed that I had barely touched my risotto. He asked me for a box and I replied no thank you. Before I could finish even a thought he walked off. The second time I had to wave him down to tell him about my meal. And … Again… Before I could barely get a word out of my mouth he knew I was unhappy and gave me the rudest and bitchy response ever«oh no I ain’t got time to deal with this» and walked away!!! I was in shock. Did the server really just do that to a customer? Is this not suppose to be a professional establishment??? He called over the manager. When I asked her if the risotto was suppose to be hard she said yes it’s suppose to be al dente. Really? Bc I’ve had risotto before and never did it taste like undercooked hard ass salty rice! Or does seriously undercooked mean al dente? Cook rice half way, you get that hard grainy texture… Apparently that is al dente. And then she proceeded to tell me that she would give me a discount if we hadn’t finished a large portion of our meal. Ummm don’t give me a discount if you feel that I am lying but taste the damn risotto yourself and the salty dried ass chicken fajita and then tell me all this crap. I’m getting mad recounting all this. She went back to the kitchen and apparently the chef tasted it and it’s «suppose to taste like that» if that’s the case you should get rid of the item all together bc it’s not good and definitely not worth $ 16. For the record she did give me s discount probably bc they knew the food was not up to par but didn’t want to admit it wasn’t good. Sometimes it’s better to be honest. Also the server tried to explain his walking off and rude remark by saying he couldn’t deal with that type of situation bc it’s «better that a manager talk to you bc she could do something about it.» Well, then the proper response would have been«ok let me call the manager for you.» Don’t give me the most dramatic and rude response! you are working I am a customer not your friend. Also, I was talking about the Latino with the brassy blonde tipped hair and bright pink nail polish and blood shot eyes. Don’t ever respond to a customer that way! Never again.

I went here on Friday night with a friend visiting from Taiwan. We walked in and we were seated right away. However, we waited a total or 20 minutes and still no one approached us to take our order or ask for our drink order. We finally approached the hostess for service so she came over to take our order. It was a bit random. Then near the end of our dining experience a waiter finally showed up asking if we needed anything else as if he had been waiting on us from the beginning. The first thing that was brought to the table was Foccaccia Bread and 2 waters. I have never ever in my life tasted anything so salty. I’d like to know how many pounds of salt was used to make these bad boys. If an Asian person is telling you something is salty, damn it MUST be salty. We know salty. My friend ordered the Bossa Burger with Mashed Potatoes. It was definitely a LOT of mashed potatoes that came with the burger. He couldn’t finish it. I had the X-Evertything Burger with French Fries. I couldn’t finish it all, so I finally removed both sides of the bun and finished the protein and fries. It’s a MASSIVE Burger. I asked for a side of BBQ sauce and was told that it would be an extra $.50 charge. I was fine with that, but honestly it was some terrible tasting BBQ sauce. I’m the freaking MASTER of BBQ sauces so I would know. I should have just asked for more ketchup. The food quality was just okay. The serving portions are very big and I recommend sharing an order if you decide to visit this restaurant. I probably won’t be going back anytime soon. this wasn’t my first time, but I know I can get better service, better quality food, and better price elsewhere.

I’ve visited the Sunset location numerous times due to the distance where I am, but it’s mostly been a hit or miss with service. I’ve never had delivery because of the delivery fee, and apparently, it’s been a miss with a lot of customers according to these reviews. But the food is stellar, and that is what keeps me coming back. Now as for this Robertson location, service here is a million times better than Sunset, at least for me. Usually I’m geeking out at the library nearby, so I’ll call in my order prior, then simply go pick this up. One day, I’ll get the chance to eat-in. I think during the day, you can actually park in the little ‘driveway’, which I feel as though I’m intruding, as the host podium kind of sits out there. But I might as well take advantage of my 3-hour library parking, in addition to getting a little exercise going back to my car. Yes the menu has a huge selection, and some complain that it can’t be good due to the many choices(Barney’s Beanery and Cheesecake Factory may come to mind, which to those I agree), however, the few dishes I have tried here are always on par. Can’t miss: –grilled chicken with rice, mashed potatoes and fries –bossa bolognese spaghetti –chicken caesar salad Will return–
