I took my 8 year old daughter on 8÷27÷15 to Jana, at that time her BMI was in the 91 percentile and I felt like the world had just collapsed on me after hearing my daughter had a high BMI. Jana gave us tips and help on how to change her eating habits. Our first time back after the change in eating was on 10÷1÷15 and my daughter dropped her BMI down to 89%. This past week on 10÷29÷15 we came in for another appointment and my daughter has dropped her BMI to 84%! In just two months I can see a huge change in my daughter and her BMI dropped drastically, we make better choices in eating thanks to Jana!

I have lost 28 lbs. since I began seeing Jana 3 months ago. Jana is easy to talk to, and really understands the challenges that busy people face. My wife and I, do not have the time or the inclination to cook very often. We generally eat what we can grab, or heat up in a microwave. Jana understands this and works with this. Most of the diets we have tried in the past, have you cooking a lot, which is just not realistic for our lifestyle. Jana works with me to find solutions that will work for me within my comfort zone. She listens and makes strong suggestions based on a long term lifestyle, as opposed to a short term diet. Jana was recommended to me by my doctor to help manage my gestational diabetes. She worked with me on what I like to eat and worked it into easy meal/​snack ideas. The plan was easy to manage, I was satisfied with my meals and more importantly my sugar numbers were under control. She taught me some great tips that I have been using post pregnancy and the weight is coming off. Jana has been a great help to me and my family to make wise food choices and I would highly recommend her.

Jana is great!!! My pediatrician sent us to her since she was concerned about my daughter’s weight and hormone level due to her weight. My 8 year has lost 15 Ibs since March and feels and looks great! No more premature puberty risk here! I was recently diagnosed with Type II diabetes, and I knew I had to see a nutritionist. Jana came recommended via Facebook, and I am thrilled! She packed so much information into our first one-​hour appointment that I have major reading to do over the next few days. Earlier this year, I had an anxiety-​based eating disorder which left me significantly underweight and malnourished. I tried for a few months to handle a diet on my own, but I wasn’t getting the results I needed. I was tired all the time, and still quite anxious. I was referred to Jana through my doctor, and seeing her made an immediate difference. What a find! It took 50 years and a cancer diagnosis for me to finally realize that I needed to consult with a Registered Dietician and lucky me, I chose Jana! I was referred to Jana Hand by my doctor after a diagnosis of gluten intolerance. In addition, I also am lactose intolerant and have PCOS, which affects blood sugar. After being gluten-​free for nearly 6 months, I was shocked at how much Jana was able to improve my eating and find hidden sources of gluten in my diet. Right away you can’t help but adore Jana’s fabulous personality and her incredible knowledge of food, nutrition and it’s affect on the body. From the start my then 10-​year old son and my two younger children were included and educated about the foods we eat and how they affect our bodies.
Within the first session, Jana was able to surmise what may be triggering my sons «attacks». By the next visit we were able to pinpoint those ingredients and remove just those from his diet.

From Jana’s sessions, our son has learned how to successfully navigate parties, buffets, sleep-​away camp and holidays, including Halloween, which she discussed with all three kids (and a few friends who happen to be with us too!).
This past week was huge as Jana let me know that my sons BMI had actually gone down. With diabetes lurking on both sides of our family, I am thrilled to see him and my other children making healthy choices and decisions that will carry them through their adolescent years.

I for one have always had issues with my weight and the management thereof… so needless to say when I got preggo, I went ape… t with my eating habits. I thought to myself that I will be one of the lucky ones… breastfeed and all the weight will magically come off! Well, wouldn’t you know it, I looked at myself in the mirror as my son was about to turn ‘1’ and I went ape… t again but it was because what I had fantasized about really didn’t materialize at ALL!!! I breastfed for only 6 mos. and although it was wonderful while it lasted, the weight just didn’t budge… lucky me!
Then I decided to ask or beg rather, for help and Jana who I luckily met in our MOMMY and ME class was so generous to ablige. I don’t feel like I have ever been on a «Diet» which isn’t in my vocabulary… I feel like I am getting my life back and attaining a «Lifestyle» that I can be true to and live by. I have lost 20 lbs. in 6mos. and I can’t wait to kick my goal of 30 lbs. in the ass and then some! Jana at every weigh in gets so exuberant because my success means the world to her. I am forever indebted to her because overall, she has helped me to loose baby weight in a slow and controlled manner and with this, I feel like my success in keeping it off will be undeniable!
