As a 16 year customer of Amodio & Sons I can honestly say that I wouldn’t even consider giving my business to another company. Their response time is excellent and they always fix the problem the first time. Whether I call for service on a Sunday night or on a Friday afternoon, Vinny or Mike always respond quickly. It would be foolish of me not to expect to pay a little extra for service like that. To me, it’s worth every penny. If you are looking for a reputable heating service company I highly recommend this long standing family owned business. If you are reading this review, you are obviously looking for service or possibly for a new heating oil source. Keep this in mind, Amodio has been a family owned business since the 60’s. The only way a small business like this could survive this long is by providing exceptional customer service each and every time the phone rings.

I do not write negative reviews lightly, and I generally try to support small businesses. That said… AVOID renting from anyone who contracts with Amodio, and think twice about entering a contract with them. Amodio arranges«full service» contracts with landlords and homeowners. Ostensibly, this provides peace-of-mind by giving you access to Amodio 24⁄7 and routine furnace maintenance. This may sound great if you’re a landlord. If you’re a tenant, however, what this REALLY means is getting locked into paying hundreds(if not thousands) of dollars extra per-year for regular heating oil. Amodio’s rates are 30−40% more than other providers in the area, and they actually put a physical padlock on your fill pipe so you can’t order from anyone else. They also have a high minimum order(100 gallons). Again, your tank is locked, and they refuse to sell you less than 100 gallons. I call this extortion, and will not renew my lease because of it. Oh, and the access to 24⁄7 service that the contract supposedly gives you? Apparently this just buys you the right to call someone any time. Our furnace broke on one of the coldest nights of the year, and they initially said they’d be out in the morning, when we would presumably be frozen. (They’re also not particularly competent. In calling them and giving my address over the phone, they have repeatedly claimed that no account exists for me. Which I would be thrilled with, if it weren’t for their lock sitting on my tank.) Maybe they’re OK for ad-hoc repairs, but I couldn’t say.
