I recently discovered this place when looking for a quick breakfast in the Hartford area. I have to say that when I pulled up to the location I was a bit skeptical… it was located in what seemed slightly residential. My friend and I were reluctant to step out of the car, but boy I’m glad we did. The minute we walked in I was captivated by the charm of the place… it looked like a cute country store with a plethora of deli options. I didn’t get a chance to walk around but the store seemed quite small. Let me tell you the amount of craft beers they had was ridiculous… It looked like a brewery in there! The deli counter was also very charming and many of the deli sandwiches, breakfast sandwiches and the coffees looked and sounded amazing. The girl at the country was extremely helpful and pleasant and was very accommodating to my requests. Although I could see how if the the place was busy the service might be a little slow… so if you are in a rush be mindful of what time it is. For breakfast I got a sesame bagel with scallion cream cheese, lox, onions, tomato and capers, one of my favorite breakfast items! I was pleasantly surprised everything was very fresh and presented nicely. I loved how their scallion cream cheese consisted of freshly cut scallions. I proceeded to consume every last crumb of the sandwich and it was delicious. The only negative I have about the breakfast was that they claimed to have award winning New York style bagels. While the bagels definitely weren’t bad and honestly petty good compared to many other Connecticut bagels… being from NY… I would definitely not consider them NY bagels.

When I saw that Harvest had a 4.5 rating over 40+ reviews, I wondered how a convenience store could possibly merit such lofty stats. Now I know, because this place is incredible. It’s so much more than a convenience store, that’s for sure. How so? How about craft beers, bagels, outrageous deli sandwiches, ice cream, organic and natural foods, pastries galore, hot dogs, breakfast sandwiches, and groceries. They even have tables and chairs for you to sit and enjoy your time here. I stopped in today after running a morning errand in Hartford and was very impressed with Harvest. The two guys behind the counter were super friendly and quite personable. My ham and egg on a bagel was fabulous– no skimpiness anywhere to be found in any aspect of the sandwich. I would have loved to have a newspaper to read during breakfast, but Harvest doesn’t sell any. But that’s a small sacrifice to make when compared to the dozens of things Harvest does an outstanding job with.

If one MUST purchase espresso drinks outside of home, and Franklin Avenue is too far, GOHERE. Best Absolutely Best espresso drinks. with the exception of a friend’s house and Mozzicato’s bakery. Pass Starbucks Pass J Rene — or whatever that long, hard to remember name is – , go straight to HARVESTCOUNTRYSTORE. Marvelous, Delicious sandwiches. Breakfast Bagels. Bagels are dense and flavorful, like NYC bagels. Sandwiches on amazing grinder rolls. Dense, toothy Italian bread. Excellent crust. Full sandwiches. Can make two meals on one of the«half» grinders. ICECREAM~ I haven’t tried the beer or ale, but since there are several top selections from my home state(Maine– where they have the BEST of everything(in my opinion), their beer selection must be good. Avoid Boylan sodas. Way too sweet. Pick up Bruce’s or Maine Root. At HARVEST, they don’t charge for a cup of ice, which I really like with my juice and breakfast bagel. BTW, the bagels stay hot enough(they are made immediately) to get home and enjoy with the Sunday Times. Radically fresh sandwiches and Coffee. If you haven’t been, you are missing something special.

West hartford has many coffee and bagel shops, however this is the only place I can get both an amazing latte and a great bagel sandwich in one stop. They also have a great sandwich menu that has some creative combinations. Always friendly/great service, sometimes a little wait for food but its the only spot that is no doubt worth the wait.

Since my earlier review, I’ve come back now several times. The food remains good and thankfully, the service has picked up as well. Enjoyed the tuna misto again on my last visit while my dining companion enjoyed a great roast beef sandwich. Loved the craft beers and other food items around. Yep, this is no 7 – 11 anymore. And that’s a good thing.

Harvest Country Store is my go to coffee place for a fresh cup for my morning commute. They have plenty of fair trade options. Their craft beer selection is amazing. Their pastries are top notch & the ice cream is local and fresh. I’m a big fan.

I went here one night because I ordered two subs to go over the phone. When I walked in here I realized that it was more than your usual corner store with a deli. They have a collection of micro brew beers, chocolates from an array of countries, a coffee counter — even fair trade coffee beans that can be ground on-site. I met Jim and he was super helpful. Definitely will return

Went back on my son’s reccomendation and was very pleased. Got a «turkey Italiano» sandwich which was fantastic. Store’s been remade. It is now truly the ultimate stoner store. Lots of craft beers and local munchies. But still make sure you check expiration dates on the stuff you buy as I had to return expired cheese.

Harvest is a hip place, with cool staff and awesome food. The vibe is casual and the music is awesome. Where else can you grab coffee in the morning with Gov’t Mule blasting! I take my hoagies very seriously… Harvest’s subs are made to order with fresh ingredients and come in awesome combinations. The bread is trucked in from a place in NYC last I checked… and it makes a BIG difference. Honestly one of the best sandwiches I have had outside of Philly. The coffee is on point and the bagels are delivered fresh every day from Goldbergs. If you’re into beer, this«Country Store» has the second best beer selection in town… only second to Harvest’s liquor store on Farmington avenue. This is one of my favorite spots and I’ll be coming here as long as the doors are open.

Upon arrival to Harvest Country Store, I was greeted by loitering hoodlums who made me feel unsafe getting out of my car. When I did get out of my car I went to the counter to order my usual: the 10 dollar special that included a 10 inch grinder, soda, and chips. I told the man taking my order I would be doing this special and pointed to the sign. The nice young man had no problem with this and began making my sandwich. Then a rude, bossy, cranky man came out of the back room barking orders. He told me that the sign shouldn’t be there and that I cannot get my special deal. I told him that I understand, however since the sign is there, you have to honor the price. He said to me «I don’t have to give you anything, I’m not giving you stuff for free»(which I wasn’t asking for). This man raised his voice at me and demeaned me in front of the hoodlums who were now loitering inside of the store. The man making my sandwich apologized for that person’s behavior, however, I was very upset and embarassed. I will never go back to harvest again because of the service, which is a shame because I used to solicit their business all the time.

Been coming here since they opened for ice cream, however, on a recent night we are arrived just before closing(who sells ice cream and closes at 9:00 in the summer) and we were rather rudely told we could not sit down and eat but had to leave. One employee was running around shutting blinds and turning off the«Open» sign. Please tell me before I make a purchase in your store that I cannot stay there and eat my ice cream. I’ve tried their fair trade coffee(excellent) and purchased sandwiches(very good) as well but we are now shopping elsewhere for our ice cream fix.

How happy am I that I just moved to this neighborhood? Well, once I discovered Harvest, I was over the moon! I’ve been twice– once for a cold drink on a hot day and once for lunch. They have a great combination of recognizable, brand name drinks and interesting smaller batch teas and fair trade stuff. I was happy to see that they also stock the«essentials»…butter, eggs, bacon, bread, chips etc., which is great for a neighborhood deli. The fact that they even have beer at all is great, never mind the selection! I see from Unilocal that they also own the Harvest package store on Farmington, which explains the awesome selection here. I was personally really psyched to see my favorite Harpoon Big Squeeze on a hot spring day. I just stopped in to get a deli sandwich for lunch and I’ll be surprised if I eat again for the rest of the day! The«Turkel Fantasy» sandwich was served on a huge crusty grinder roll with tons of meat, cheese, avocado spread and red peppers. It was delicious! I can’t wait to go back and try more of their special sandwich options. This place is a real gem, and it’s great to back in a neighborhood with a local deli.

«All anyone really wants in life is to sit in peace and eat a sandwich» — Liz Lemon, 30 Rock. My favorite places are those small sandwich shops and delis tucked away serving fresh ingredients and delicious combinations so automatically this place is a winner for me. But wait! What’s that? Local ice cream? Fair trade coffee? An eclectic mix of difficult to find micro brews? Harvest has been open for about a year I think and I never had the opportunity to try it, despite living within walking distance. I feel as though that has been a year of my life completely wasted. No more. From the friendly service to the top notch sandwiches to the amazing selection of products, most of which are locally sourced, there is simply no better store to visit.

I’ve got to give it up for the little Harvest Country Store in WeHa. Great little joint to wander into if you’re looking for a good cup of coffee, a nice breakfast sammie, ice cream, convenience store stuff, etc. Specializing in local, organic, natural goods, beverages and groceries from the all-time favorites to amazing artisan goodies, this store features an organic and fair trade coffee bar, incredible pastries and baked goods, fresh bagels, hot dogs, sausages, and farm fresh Connecticut ice cream from Shady Glen. There are vegetarian and vegan options as well as a deep commitment to our community. It’s my go to place when in the area for a good breakfast… when I don’t want to sit at Peterson’s. If I’m looking for a quiet place to sit with my bagel and read the news, I choose HCS. And there’s outdoor seating in the nice weather, too! Harvest Country Store is a great addition to the Oakwood Avenue/Park Road neighborhood. It’s taken an abandoned 7 – 11 and turned it into a neighborhood gem. I’m a huge fan and frequent regularly. And I believe you should, too.

Overall, this is a valuable part of the neighborhood — a convenience store, coffee shop, ice cream store and beer store all in one. You can order bagels, breakfast sandwiches, coffee and more from the counter and there’s some seating with wifi if you want to stay for a bit. The only let down is the convenience store end. On several occasions, I’ve found products way past their sell-by-date. Just today, I nearly bought milk that expired 4 days ago. Luckily I remembered to check before I paid. You’ll be fine if you just watch out for that.

It’s like a small-town country store in west Hartford. It’s categorized on Unilocal as «bagels and breakfast» but has so much more! When I went there was a contractor working in the back on a new beer cave — a walk in refrigerator with shelves and stacks of local and varieties of brews. Besides the ice cream scooping station(local ice cream) they serve up breakfast and lunch sandwiches with a few tables to chow. Amazingly friendly staff, they are eager to talk to customers to share their story. One of the managers talked to Anthony P. and I for about 20 minutes on how they’re looking to expand their forefront and compete with other vendors with alcohol — since they own another liquor store on Farmington Avenue. I want to go back and pick up some of their nifty pickling concoctions and old school sodas from the market portion of the business. Id like to see harvest become more successful and busy!
