Craft Beer Cellar West Hartford

As an out of town visitor, I was enormously happy that they were willing to save a 4 pack of Sip of Sunshine. They had a shipment come in on a Friday and luckily they had 1 4 pack on reserve but the other person never showed so I was able to buy it on Monday. With high demand beers like SOS, most places just leave it but I really appreciate the save. I had work so I couldn’t make until later in the evening and that last four pack would have never made to me without their help.

What an awesome idea for a package store. They have many varieties of craft beer but also Onyx moonshine and whiskey, some wines and a few bottles of other liquor. The beer selection offers seasonal craft beers as well as regular ones. I saw pumpkin as well as blueberry and apricot. The employee was very helpful and he signed me up for the free loyalty program which I think he said $ 5 off $ 250 so is not much but maybe there are more perks. The mix and match 6 packs are a great idea and love the cooler for to go singles. Will definitely be back, especially when he said he could order any requests that they did not stock. One star off for the annoying hipsters this store attracts.

Very cool place with a strong selection of local and national crafts as well as some cool international selections. Not a place to grab cases, but perfect if you’re into trying new things before committing to a 6-​pack. You can create a sampler six pack with any beers in the store, and they have a number of cold options in their refrigerators if you know what you want going in. Staff is knowledgable and incredibly friendly, and they’re starting a beers of the month delivery service for residents of West Hartford! Worth checking out if you’re into crafts, and a great addition to the West End!

A real win for West Hartford and the West End neighborhood of Hartford! This place is very clean and offer a very well organized selection of craft brews from all over the world. They have their selections organized by regions (Connecticut, New England, US, International) and by type. You can build your own six packs, the prices are fair, and their staff is extremely helpful. They clearly love their beers and are always happy to share advice and recommendations. I wish I had known this place was here sooner, but now that I do I will definitely be a regular!

Excellent selection, knowledgeable staff. You can mix and match, buy singles, or packs. They sell gift cards, which many other liquor stores don’t.
Prices seem a little high, but I found out it’s because they include the bottle deposit in the price, unlike most other stores. When you factor in deposit and tax, their prices are comparable to other stores. (Six Point is $ 2/​can, not 6.50 like another review stated).
I had the chance to meet the owners and they are two of the nicest people I’ve ever met. No money laundering here (again, contrary to another review posted).
They also offer beer tastings every week, beer deliveries, brewing and tasting classes, gift boxes and gift baskets. Everything about this store is fantastic. So convenient and well organized.

This place is great! Wide selection. The staff was friendly and very helpful. Shelves set up by Region and coolers by style which makes it easy to find what you’re looking for. My husband and I always buy our beer here! Got my husband a fathers Day gift card today :-)
I found their prices reasonable. I bought a 25 oz bottle of Uinta Birthday Suit at Forest Wine and Spirits in Middletown for 14.99. Here I got it for 14. KBS I bought one bottle in Manchester for 10 bucks they had it here for 6. A few people complained their prices are steep but probably only looked at the «individual bottle» compared to a pack. But what they don’t understand is individual prices are always steeper bc they are allowing people to pull packs apart. You can’t do that everywhere because it requires a lot of work. But it’s also awesome to mix and match different things even if the price this way is a little higher. I have to laugh because one guy complained about the price of Sixpoint which I buy frequently here and he was way off with what the actual price is. He claims one can was $ 6.50 when they are actually $ 2. If you’re gonna write reviews at least get your facts straight. Kudos to these guys for bringing us a great little place to buy and sample beer! I also noticed they now have some local craft spirits!

Average-​sized store with an impressive craft beer selection. The staff was helpful & friendly, and they were giving out samples of Stone brews.
I was glad to see several local CT breweries represented, including some very small places that I have not seen in other stores. They seem more focused on domestics than imported beers. A few ciders and meads too.
The prices are pretty steep, especially the 6 packs. Overall it’s a very nice store, but Harvest is still the best around.

total rip-​off. i can get a 4-​pack of sixpoint beer at a shop nearby for $ 10. here it is $ 6.50 per can. absurd pricing promises this shop will either close soon or they’re just there to launder money.

Geez… Sometimes you hate to let people know about a great hidden gem… But, this new store is fantastic, great selection and they know their beer… Without the BS sales pitch!!! If you are looking for a great selection and support a local shop… This is your go to spot.

great selection of beers and staff seemed to know what they were talking about. some prices seemed high and others seemed low, so i think it all balances out if you buy a lot of beer (you should buy more beer!) cider selection was OK but not overwhelming. I have been to other Craft Beer Cellar locations and i think this is the smallest one I have been to. good to see a CT Beer section, lots of new breweries popping up and getting beers into stores.

West Hartford is really jacking up their craft beer shopping selections and this place is a good addition to the scene. They have quite a bit to offer for anyone looking for something that isn’t produced by one of the bigger breweries. I did find the prices higher than other places that I enjoy in town. I picked up a Founder’s All Day IPA 6 pack and it was $ 12 and change. That’s a tick high for a 6 pack with a low abv. It’s cool that you can buy a mix and match 6 pack but again, the prices are steep for singles. I will probably continue to hit up places a bit closer to home such as Parkview (which I think has an excellent beer selection) or the two beer caves at the two Harvest locations but this IS a good place if you’re in a rush, in the nabe or just hankering for some good choices.

I finally had the opportunity to visit this place over the weekend and I was not disappointed. The store is very clean and well organized and the employee that I interacted with was helpful and friendly. As I slowly perused the inventory and resisted the urge to grab every bottle in sight, he did not hover, which I appreciated because hard decisions had to be made! The selection of beers is really great; they carry local beers as well as many that I had never even heard of. The prices are reasonable and with most brews you have the option of just buying a single can or bottle from a 4 or 6 pack. This is fantastic because you don’t feel obligated to commit to something that you may not like. Overall this was a very positive experience and I will happily return!

Wow, what a great store. This place knows its stuff.
My husband and I were welcomed with 8 (!) local beers to try, which was an awesome way to discover some new beers.
They have a full section of just local beers by the pack or singles. They also have an amazing selection of craft beers. Legit craft beers. There were tons of breweries here I had never heard of before. And even for some of the larger, well-​known craft breweries (e.g., Dogfish, Left Hand, New Holland), they had some of the favorites as well as other flavors I had not seen before.
Be sure to check out some of the additional singles in the fridge; there were some in there that were not on the main shelves.
Lastly, they have a very teeny but very interesting wine section, including a honey wine from South Africa we’re going to need to get next time we visit.
I really cannot speak more highly about this spot.

I stopped in yesterday. Great selection. Organized well too. Good place to go and mix and match. Beware though all prices are on the high side. Not a place to go to pick up a few sixes of beer you can find elsewhere. Whole foods even is cheaper.

This place is amazing if you love good craft beer nice selection helpful staff looking to give you a helping hand if you need any help picking out something good!!! Can’t wait to head back and try some more of there selection!

What a great little place! They have a fun selection of craft beers with a few better known staples, as well as a small selection of wines, ciders and even alcoholic ginger beer (yum). I LOVE that you can mix and match to make your own six packs, and there’s a decent selection kept cold in the cooler so you can enjoy right away :) friendly owners/​workers and a convenient location. There is a request list so you can put in a request for something specific that they don’t carry. They do tastings (when I walked in they were tasting a beer from the local Shebeen brewing co) and they have a customer loyalty program that gives you rewards for dollars spent. I’ll definitely be back!

Listen up all you beer loving Unilocalers — West Hartford has a new beer store and it is pretty awesome!
Having only been open a week, I stopped here this past Saturday to see what Craft Beer Cellar was all about. I love trying new beer but a lot of times I have a hard time plunking down money for a 6 pack of a beer I have not tried. That’s why I love mixed packs — it gives me the opportunity to try different beers before fully investing in more than one bottle.
The store is on the small side but clean and well organized. I thought it had a pretty extensive selection from Connecticut Breweries and while I was there Overshores was doing a tasting. In addition to packs and bombers there was also a very large selection in the cooler if you are looking for something «to go».
And the best part… they entire store (with the exception of beers from New England Brewing Co.) can be mixed and matched. How awesome is that! I ended up with a great mixed selection of some favorites and some new ones to try.
The staff was also knowledgeable, friendly and willing to help.
Great new find in the Hartford Area — I will definitely be back!
