Terrible food and overpriced. My «medium rare» steak was like a hokey puck, learn how to make a steak. $ 19 for a cheese platter and there was no cheese. The chili was an oil slick and the French onion soup was a joke. The sad thing is there were no questions when we sent all our plates back full of food. The«kale caesar» had no kale but was made of arugula, do you think your clients are stupid? I was told they had a modified menu due to holiday and they wanted to accommodate the crowd, there was no crowd and our food was terrible, what a joke. Never again.

Chef Adam did a great job providing very flavorful entrees in a charming old world atmosphere served by highly competent and attentive staff(like Andrea.) We would definitely return to try some of the other unique appetizers and entrées.

So. we gave this place a second chance. it only took 3 years ha ha. We had a better dinner this time around as the food was really pretty good. Service was very good and was very happy with the waitstaff and the timeliness of our food. My wife had the Leek soup and was very happy with it and I had the French Onion soup that was good as well. For our main course my wife had the Vermonter salad that she liked but… the Maple dressing was too sweet to the already sweet salad. If they served a balsamic dressing to even it out or drop the candied walnuts I think they would be on point. Now… lets talk RIBS! This is where Dover Forge has upped their game. They have a nice selection of BBQ smoked meats. I ordered the full rack of dry rubbed slow cooked smoked ribs. They were amazing. and epically huge. I made it only thru half as it was just too much for a normal human to consume. The homemade BBQ sauce they served on the side was just as tasty. The fries and coleslaw were good as well; the coleslaw could use a little more seasoning as it was a little bland. We finished with lava cake that was pretty good as well. There are little things that need some improvements that I feel would make this a five star review. Serve some homemade cornbread or rolls with some local homemade butter as having no bread on the table does not go over well. Still not crazy about the high tables in the main dinning room… it does not go. Maybe get some live music or kick up the speakers in the main room a little. Other then that I will be coming back as the prices were inline with what was offered… the epic ribs for $ 30 are a steal!

We had a reception there with about twenty five people. They gave us a prefixed menu with a prefixed beer and wine list. There was not one person who had anything but positive things to say about the food and the service. It was extremely affordably priced and the food was elegant and refined without being stuffy. The staff was very attentive and friendly and I can’t wait to go back and try the barbecue.

I loved this place. When we asked for a table close to the fireplace, the owner/manager did not hesitate to give us a table for 6 for a party of 3. Service was great, and so was the food we tried. Possibly one of the best onion soups I have tried on this side of the ocean. I’m European and have been in France and Switzerland countless times, so I know what I’m talking about. Overall a very good experience. I loved the affordable wine bottle options in the menu, it’s nice to have wines for under $ 30 so everyone can get one every now and then.

My husband and I were visiting the area and chose this place at random. We loved it. The food was delicious and interesting(not your stereotypical bar menu), our waitress was friendly and helpful, and we loved playing foose ball and ping pong. I got a really yummy cocktail and my beer connoisseur husband found a brew he enjoyed. We were pleasantly surprised and had a really fun night after a long, difficult day of travel.

Absolutely some of the best ribs I’ve ever had! I have had BBQ all over and the ribs here are AMAZING! Beautiful pink ring around the meat and the dry rub has a nice heat to it. The meat falls off the bone, and the texture, PERFECT. Still juicy and hot from the smoker and not soggy, the dry rub coating has a nice crust when it hits your lips… must go to place when in the area

A great place to grab some BBQ and a draft beer. Relaxed atmosphere with good interior design. Southern style BBQ up north. Several pool tables, ping pong and fooseball.

As soon as you walk in the door, it smells like delicious smoked meat. They have a bbq buffet that I think must have contributed the wonderful aroma(we didn’t do this, although it sounded pretty good). I tried a smoked meatloaf sandwich, and my date had the chili hot dogs. I really liked the meat loaf, and it was served open-faced on really good, soft bread, but there wasn’t much meatloaf and the bacon around it was gummy and soggy. It was served with homemade chips, which I usually go nuts for, but these were a little burnt and needed more salt. I got a side of collard greens and they were heavily sauced with something I did not like(tasted like burnt, sweet balsamic vinegar and no clue what else). I wasn’t a fan. The chili dogs were pretty good. The meal took a really long time, I was very antsy by the time we got our food. I wouldn’t think anything we ordered would take long, so not sure what did. Overall, the meat tasted(and smelled) good, but the sides were not great, and it was slow. I do wish I had tried the sweet potato salad, which sounded interesting.

My sister had a deal for the Dover Forge and we decided to give it a try. Imagine our surprise when we were the only ones at the restaurant, literally! On a Friday night at 6:45! Generally, that’s not a good sign, so we had very low expectations. This place was very good. We each had sandwiches which we enjoyed. The homemade chips were fresh and crunchy. I loved the cold slaw. They server was very attentive-wait, we were her only customers! The atmosphere is warm and the whole place is spotless. I would not hesitate to return and would highly recommend going to the Dover Forge for a delicious meal.

Really thought it would be better — I would put both the food and service as slightly below average. In on a Friday night and just sat at the bar to grab a quick bite. Menu and pictures looked pretty good so figured it would be a solid stop. Bar was not crowded but the bartender seemed overwhelmed nonetheless and had a hard time balancing a food and drink order. Got the«hearty» chili to start which is advertised as «house made» but I would swear was Hormel right out of the can. No flavor or substance to it — a real disappoinment. Had the Forged Burger for my main which was a pretty thin patty and really lacked any flavor. Same feeling on the meal from Big John. Did have a nice cold Switchback draft and was going to have a second but glass sat empty so long we decided to call it a night after one. Oh well…

What a fantastic place. I had the pleasure of eating here for my cousin’s rehearsal dinner. The GM greeted us at the door(a party of about 25) and checked on us regularly. The service was great and the food was fantastic. I had the pork tenderloin for dinner and it literally melted in my mouth. It was paired with string green beans and garlic mashed potatoes. The beer and wine selection was also very good. One side of the restaurant has the dining area while the other side has numerous pool tables, foosball tables, and ping pong tables. They have a beautiful back patio area as well. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone in the Mount Snow area.

Well it is definitely a place to grab a quick burger and watch the game. The only gripe that i have thus far is the wait time on service, it feels like I’m in a packed restaurant but in reality, there is only 15 to 20 people here. For the food thus far I can say that it is average. There is nothing that sticks out, but it is still good.

This is the best place in the Mount Snow area to eat, drink and relax. Creative and delicious appetizers, main course and desserts. Delicious pear martini is the perfect way to start the night! Fire Pitt out back and beautiful billiard hall make it a perfect hangout with friends. Staff makes you feel like family.

«One More Time,» the lunch version of Dover Forge Restaurant, surprised us by delivering great service and the best meal we had in West Dover. When we ordered a pulled pork sandwich and chicken salad sandwich with«Native Veg» on the side for $ 12, we assumed we were being gouged. When you’re in a sports bar, you just don’t expect anonymous vegetables to mean anything but dirty romaine and a couple flavorless tomatoes. To our great pleasure, a generous helping of perfectly sauteed zucchini and yellow squash dressed in light oil, salt and pepper(just like we’d make at home) arrived next to lightly mayo’ed chunky chicken chock full of green apple and cranberries on a beautiful brioche. The pulled pork wasn’t overly greasy but could have used a side of sauce(perhaps pork purists prefer less sweetness). The staff was genuinely friendly and prompt, but the place smelled vaguely of gasoline(a few guys were working on solving this problem). We played Chuck-O on their grass patio and came back later for a drink and Sunday night football. Avoid Dot’s Diner and come here for comfort food with real ingredients.

Ambiance was dark and dull, outdated decors. The less description the better. Ordered the mussel nj garlic sauce for appetizer, a little steep on the salt, but it was ok. As entrée we decided to share the BBQ special; consisted of rib tips, chicken, cole slaw, corn bread, and ribs. Let me just point out that I have a very high tolerance of consuming«not so great» food. The plate appeared like different kinds of meat(mystery meat?) boiled in one big pot, dumped on a plate and slathered with steak sauce mixed with BBQ sauce. No seasoning what’s so ever– nevertheless following my initial tasting, the food was sent back. On another note, the dinner roll is served warm and fresh. Delicious :)

Leaving this review based on my table of 8’s experience. Waitress’ lack of knowledge of the beer on tap. When asked she responded with«you can walk up to the bar to see» drinks came in a timely manner but one water had the paper from the straw in it, not a huge deal but when I said this to her she responded with«you can either pull it out and I can take you order or I can walk all the back to the bar to get a new one» mind you the bar is about 10 feet away. 45 minutes later, no food, no waitress, had to yell to get her over for bread or crackers, something to chew on. Little over an hour after we arrived half the food comes, 5 minutes later the other half comes. Meals come with 2 sides, they were out of what 2 of us wanted and just decided to replace them with 2 random sides without asking. Waitress was however nice enough to offer 1 comped meal for that. Ribs were dry, onion rings were cold, oil from fried food was noticeably old from display and taste. Currently at the end figuring out the bill and asking questions and we are receiving an attitude from our waitress Raechel.

Here is our first minute interacting with our waitress. «Can I order a grilled cheese for my toddler?» Her response: «No, we don’t have any bread» OK — so that foreshadowed our overall experience there. The food was so-so, the service was so-slow and if you want to know if we’d go there again, the answer is «No»
