Welcome to Des Moines! As an REI member from Fairfax VA, i’d like to say the quality of products, coupled with your teams knowledge thereof ensures a delightful shopping experience. I would give five stars if more of your products were available at a price within my budget.

For anyone who has been to other REI stores you will realize how embarrassing this store is. This location is primarily just a clothing store with about 70% of the store being clothes and shoes. Outside of clothes they have some bikes and camping stuff and that’s it. They carry no skiing, kayaking, or much of anything else.
It’s really to bad because most REI stores are awesome for outdoor enthusiasts but this one seems to primarily just care about clothing sales. If you’re looking to be fashionable while outside then this may be the store for you. If you’re looking for equipment for your active lifestyle try one of REIs other stores.

REI’s reputation as a provider of quality outdoor gear and good corporate citizen has long since been established. What makes this REI special — beside being, at long last, located in West Des Moines — is the enthusiastic and passionate staff the REI has brought onboard.
Not just knowledgeable employees, but experienced participants in the activities themselves, the staff at this location can both point you to the right equipment for your endeavor, but provide recommendations on its use, and suggestions on where you might want to use it.
If you’re a seasoned hiker, kayaker, biker, climber, etc., you already know what REI has to offer. If you’re just getting started, REI should be one of your first visits.
