I brought a three-​piece men’s suit in for alterations after finding Frederick’s through Unilocal.The proprietor was very accommodating, friendly, and the experience of his many years in this field shows. It was a small price to make me look like a million bucks! Be sure to bring your checkbook, though– credit cards are off their menu.

As a note he just moved across the parking lot. I stopped in on Friday and asked JD (the proprietor) if he could alter a suit by Wednesday for an interview. He said he could. The suit fit perfectly and my trousers were pressed crisply. Flew to my interview where we were expected to arrive «dressed to impress». I was offered the job on the spot. I thank this establishment in part for getting hired because my suitcoat was a frumpy mess prior to JD altering it.

If you’re looking for professional old-​school-​customer service second to none, then Frederick’s is the place for you. I’ve been unhappy with every dry cleaner I’ve used in the Des Moines metro area until now. J.D. Daniels puts «The Man» in manager. I love this place. :-)

Today’s fashion is all about the fit. A mediocre suit can become a designer suit with the right tailoring and customization. A recent trip to Frederick’s Tailoring in Clive has convinced me to take all my dress pants, shirts and suits for JD to work his magic. He understood what makes a suit fit like a glove and the results were amazing. His prices are good, comparable to any other shop in town and I have no idea how he works as quickly as he does, but I had my suit back in 1 week (there were several adjustments to be made). Very satisfied customer.

I noticed this dry cleaner/​alteration shop in the strip mall that holds a consignment shop and a mexican bakery I like to visit. So I decided to give them a try when I needed a zipper replaced on a discount pair of jeans I bought (due to the broken zipper obviously). I dropped the jeans on Monday and received a call from J.D. on Wednesday that they were finished. The work was professional and the price was reasonable. The best part was meeting J.D. on pick up day. He is good at what he does and he was a joy to speak with. He knows his stuff and I will be bringing in more items soon, when I change out my wardrobe for Summer. He only accepts cash or checks, so come prepared.
