Absolutely love it here! Gabby makes you feel like you’re family! All the bar tenders are amazing but Gabby is my favorite! She’s loud and small! Adorable! The food is great and the drinks are delicious! I just can’t stop ordering more and more! I give service and food two thumbs up!

Weekend brunch from 10 – 2 with $ 5 mimosas Decided to try out their brunch selection this weekend. While the food was good the selection of food was pretty small(although the full menu was also available too). I ended up getting a Philly cheese steak fritata. The egg was fluffy, the cheese was good and it came with a side of potatoes. I was surprised the potatoes were skinless, which did make them a little softer then I would have liked. They also offered $ 5 mimosas and $ 6 bloody mary’s, which I found pretty good. There were not a lot of people when I went so the service was fast and friendly. Not my favorite brunch place but it’s a nice place to frequent every now and then.

Great service! Christina was our server tonight and she was on top of everything. Food I had was great, Bourbon street rice could use some more flavor, but the Top Sirloin steak and loaded mashed potatoes were awesome. Steak cooked medium rare, can’t say it will taste good if you get it cooked past medium, because what steak does, ha. Daughter’s had the Cajun Chicken and the Triple Smoked burger, which they loved. I’ll definitely be back, thanks Christina.

This is the worst Elephant Bar that I’ve been to. My girlfriend and I get there for the happy hour and the place is not too crowded. The guy at the bar(some short guy with spiky hair) says he’ll come to take an order and we never see him again. Another waitress comes to take our order and we actually got our stuff pretty quickly. But after that we never got any service. They didn’t even bring us silver ware or napkins. We waited for at least 20 after finishing our drinks and no one came to ask us if we needed anything. Then we noticed they were only attending to the same people over and over again while we got ignored. So I went to the spiky haired guy and asked for the check. He had a look on his face as if he knew that they totally forgot about us, but he didn’t apologize. And the food sucked. I don’t recommend this Elephant bar.

Went to the elephant bar for happy hour with my friend at around 5pm. This review is based on their happy hour and service. We were seated right away. Unfortunately, the servers were a bit mismanaged, we sat around for 10 minutes before anyone took our order. Turns out that our table was not assigned a waiter. I was ready to knock this place down a star for what seemed like poor service but the server was very nice and apologized for the mistake. I ordered a jungle colada(normally $ 9 each), but they were $ 2 off for happy hour. The jungle colada comes with whalers dark rum, and is by far the best piña colada i have ever had, it’s a little sweet but thats perfectly fine with me. My friend and i werent very hungry, so we just ordered some appetizers(the lettuce chicken wraps and the spinach and artichoke dip). The lettuce chicken wraps came with a peanut sauce that had toasted coconut in it, and a cilantro chile sauce, the appetizer was good and seemed rather healthy but i wish they gave us romaine lettuce instead of iceberg lettuce. The spinach and artichoke dip was good, and comparable to other restaurants, no complaints on this appetizer. The appetizers were pretty much half off to my surprise, the discounted appetizers were part of the happy hour special. I ended up ordering another jungle colada because it was so delicious. The server was pretty attentive and was very courteous. Overall, the prices were definitely fair for the happy hour, ended up paying $ 28(before tip) for two jungle coladas, and two appetizers(the lettuce chicken wraps and the spinach/artichoke dip). In summary, the management could use a little improvement, but the service was good thanks to our very nice server, the food was alright and I had a good time. I will likely return soon for some delicious cocktails.

omg, this had to be one of the all times«worst» restaurant outings i have ever had to experience! i had planned & invited my family all to this location because my dad’s health is unfortunately at a all time low! and i had known that this might be our«last» father’s day with him. so i selected a restaurant close by his home in w. covina this time, so we could really all have a wonderful father’s day together! but oh did i make a huge mistake, a reservation that we had made weeks ago while he was still hospitalized, we were seated about 30 – 45 mins. later than our reservation. and from there it only got«worst»! from the time they sat even water & ice tea’s on that table those«gnats» started attacking, and never stopped! the food was the most disgusting none tasting meals, that i had ever paid for, out of ten(10) platters, not one person was happy. and to encourage my dad to eat more, i was eating off of his plate … it was the«pot roast» dinner … omg i was h.o.r.r.i.b.l.e! i was so extremely embarrassed … because i set the whole thing up! but i have been going to the elephant bar’s for many years, as a matter of fact, last father’s day we went to the one in torrance, and it was«great»! so i said that to say this … it is not the elephant bar’s in general! it is this location! they need to shut down, exterminate the place & get some cooks who really know how to cook and that care! would i recommend … heck na’ll! lady di

I hadn’t been here now years(to this specific location) because I think my last experience was the that great. So I decided to give this place another try. Nope. The food was burnt and bland, there was a gnat that wouldn’t leave, the dividers were covered in dust and I was never offered a refill. The overall experience was a disappointment. It’s no wonder that this place is empty. I won’t be returning.

Overpriced for the quality of food and drinks, Not how I remember my experience there years ago when it first opened. I had the pork chop which was thin and over cooked, and they didn’t have the sides it’s supposed to come with. Won’t be going here again.

Oh, elephant bar. You used to be great. Very disappointing visit. We came here last Sunday because Lucille’s had a near 2hr wait and we were all starving. So, I have to be honest, there was a sense of ALARM walking in. We should have figured when there was maybe 3 tables seated and one lonely guy at the bar at 6pm on a Sunday game night… But it was my mother in-laws bday and she picked the place and as mentioned above we were all starved. We seated towards the back. Waitress seemed pleasant enough until she took our order and we never saw her again. We sat there for a good 10 mins at a time trying to get someone’s attention every time we needed something. The busboy was very attentive he should have gotten the tip for having to run and get out server each time we needed something. I ordered the salmon soup and asked her to add a bit of extra chives, some places don’t put enough because ppl don’t normally want to stink like onions, an aversion I really don’t have. They brought my soup and it looked delightful, until I spooned the first bite to realize they completely substituted the phở noodles the soup comes with for… wait for it… a bowl full of green onions. They weren’t even chopped(haha) these guys seriously gave me a bowl of broth with about 2 full cups worth of 2 – 3 inches-long chunks of onions and not even the green part!!! it was mostly the white part which would have been fine but they were raw lol(sarcasm). Come on guys!!! Really!?! Needless to say, I no longer wonder why you have no customers. To add insult to injury I asked the server to please bring me the noodles after I showed her the plate full of onions I had to scoop out of my plate to make it edible(please note I left a substantial amount in the bowl as I love onions) ps. I was not a nightmare customer as that is not really my style, yet she never apologized and someone else brought the noodles going to all the other 2 tables asking who ordered the side of noodles, I had to clarify it was not a side so I would not be charged extra for them. The second girl saw the plate of onions and she gasped I told her what happened and she apologized and just walked away. By the time the noodles arrived my soup was mildly warm but still tasty so I ate it. Did I mention we were super hungry? No one ever came over to apologize or even explain, my sister in-law seemed horrified at the service and incident so she said loudly, «they shouldn’t even charge you for your meal», haha too bad no one was around to hear her lol. Normally the servers alert management of such incidents but not here, no… here they just keep it to themselves and let u walk out the door with dissatisfaction. I know I should have said something to the manager, not to get freebies(I don’t need them and I ate the soup), but to call attention to service/food quality(very important factors in a restaurant) but, …look the way I figured if your server didn’t tell anyone that the kitchen is doing this sort of crappy thing that’s a shitty server and obviously your staff and kitchen don’t give a flying f*** about this place so why bother coming back. On the other hand, if she did and the manager didn’t think it necessary to address the issue then obviously this entire place doesn’t care and why bother. Also please note it would be different if it was a packed restaurant which is a sign of success, however, this is not the case for this restaurant. The last 2 – 3 times we have been here in the last 3 – 4 years(always a Saturday) the restaurant has no wait and no patrons, why do you think that is? Either way we, all five of us, are not coming back again since we were all disappointed with our meals. This review is not for them to know, I really don’t care and I’ve learned my lesson. It is for ppl who consider going just to avoid a long wait, trust me and just wait. And if u think, oh this is not going to be me, and you venture into this sad establishment anyway… make sure you don’t ask for extra chives and good luck.

Get rid of the gnats!!! 6÷1÷2016 How disgusting to still be open and serve food and have people dodging annoying flying insects. And all you say is «yea the manager knows and is calling someone out tomorrow» wtf! then why in the world are you open?!!

Very noisy when we arrived and asked to lower the music, which they did. That was the only negative, then the calamari appetizer arrived. They were to die for. So tender and so good. The hamburger was so juicy and so filling. The onion rings were so golden, hot and big and so good. Can’t wait to go back. And the service was excellent.

Decided to go on safari to the Elephant Bar’s Happy Hour(3p-7p &9p to closing) to celebrate my latest successful bionic implant(it wasn’t my tongue). Grazed first on some excellent Chicken Potstickers with some zippy-zesty soy ginger sauce and some crunchy Coconut Shrimp Skewers in a most delicious pineapple-orange sauce. My shaken, not stirred, $ 5 gin martini was just what the doctor ordered to wash down our appetizing appetizers. I decided to try the Shaved Rib-eye Sliders with Swiss cheese, caramelized onions and au jus and wasn’t disappointed with the onionized juicy rib-eye flavor. My partner and part-time nurse decided to try the charbroiled bacon Pub Burger well done and they actually cooked it well done without totally drying it out — most amazing and tasty! At this point in our culinary journey, aided by my second smooth martini, it dawned on me that the Elephant Bar is a worthy successor to one of West Covina’s original eateries, Bob’s Big Boy, which used to be located directly across the street on Vincent Avenue and Plaza Drive for many years. Perhaps the Elephant Bar needs to put a statue on the corner of a giant elephant wearing red checkered overalls and holding up a giant Pub Burger? Maybe not. It’s also fun and interesting how the Elephant Bar really gets into its jungle/African theme by employing energetic, friendly little pygmy servers in the bar area. To recap; great food and great service and great value equals a wonderful dining experience. Keep up the good work Elephant folk!

Undeniably this is my fav hangout in West Covina. Love how friendly the staffs are, great food(they have healthy options too) and their old fashions aren’t bad too. There’s ample parking in front and behind the restaurant so you don’t have to walk far especially in winter. ;)

My wife and I have been dining at Elephant Bar for years now and tonight was no different from the other times we had gone. They are always terrific with their service and their food. We like their happy hour(although it had gone up a bit) 3−7pm. Let me describe our dining experience starting backwards… Their cowboy ribeye was succulent and flavorful. We paired it up with a side of sautéed green beans and spinach. We shared the ribeye and it is so good that even while I am writing this review my stomach is telling me to order another one. We also had Angry Orchard cider beer and a Blue Moon. Our appetizer was the seared Ahi and that was delicious! The ahi is something we always ordered as an appetizer. All in all, we have never been disappointed when we choose to go here on a whim.

Service — Good Food — Good Refillable fountain drinks — No This chain is another set of themed chained restaurants that would fit well in the movie«Waiting.» The African, adult rain-forest café, theme is different compared to the western themed steakhouses and contemporary type of restaurants I have gone to over my life. Just like how I reviewed my Claim Jumper, my parents do like this place because they have the ability to modify their plates to their liking and exchange sides for other sides. Chained restaurants are more flexible than the new foodie places. One of my favorite appetizers is the Coconut Shrimp Skewers. I always end up ordering that. Then I sometimes get the Steak with mashed, sometimes with prawns or just by itself. Service is always good and give great explanations, even though we don’t need it. It’s a nice place to take my family since they love it so much. Like I’ve said, based on how competition is, it’s hard to give chained places more than a 3. It is a really a good 3 for that AOK!

Man, this place use to be amazing. My family & I would come here all the time. Ever since they changed the menu & took out the chicken tender platter — we stopped coming here. Well last night, my brother & I decided to come back and try it once again after 4+ years. Sad to say we were very disappointed. We walked in around 7:45pm, it was pretty empty and it took about 5 minutes for us to get seated. Looking at their new menu makes me sad. They went from a full out menu to a board with a small variety of items. I ended up ordering the fish & chips because nothing else looked good. My brother ordered the chicken & shrimp parmesan. We also ordered a sample appetizer plate. It took forever to get our food & once we did, we were just not impressed. It was so bland & the bill was so expensive. It was almost $ 60 for the two of us! Totally not worth it. Definitely not coming back. I honestly wouldn’t be surprised if they closed down soon.
