A great place to run, have a picnic, take some photos, or just read a book. Very well kept and safe, the river walk is a go to place to bring out of towners for a stroll or just relax with the wife. Dog friendly and the concert series in the summer is a great time.

The Congaree River is woefully under-​appreciated in Columbia. At the very least, the River Walk allows you to get a good view. This park could not be better equipped: paved trails, restrooms, amphitheater, lampposts, emergency call boxes, water fountains, and frequent benches.
I was sad to see the new construction so close to the trail (and in the flood plain). But with the planned extension, there will be still be natural sections to enjoy.
