Decent BBQ when there’s only 2 restaurants to choose from in this area. The ribs are okay, but the brisket’s pretty dry and so is the chicken. The best thing they have is probably their pork loin special(on Wednesdays I believe). Their roughneck cobbler is pretty good, I must say(I think it has some kind of berries and coconut in it). Sides are also just okay — potato salad is decent. Their BBQ sauce is pretty awful(too sweet and not much flavor). They do have a large space, so it’s good for groups, but otherwise not much there unless you’re desperate for a meal in the middle of nowhere.

Brisket was dry. Taste like it was cooked n the oven not in a smoker. Sides where pretty good tho. But don’t think I’d pay $ 10 for it again.

One of my favorite parts about my Texas EMS road trips is getting to try new places, especially for one of my favorite food groups — BBQ. So, I decided to stop by and give this a try on my way to Angleton. First, it’s a super clean and friendly location. And I loved the homemade potato chips. I decided to try the chopped beef sandwich combo with the chips. The chips didn’t disappoint at all. The sandwich could use some work. The bun was fresh, but a toasted bun would’ve gone a long way. The chopped beef was homemade, I’m sure, but reminded me a ton of the chopped bbq beef in a tub from some of the commercial food service vendors. When you combine this with the super sweet sauce, the obvious comparison to a sloppy joe sandwich was inevitable. I’ll definitely give them another try, but I’ll try a different meat.

Brisket and ribs had a good flavor. A lot of choices on the sides. The portions are large, most people can shate a plate. One secret is to order the child’s plate. It large enough for most adults. A lot of desert options, but too much food to try the deserts. Sauce is very sweet and was the reason for 4 stars instead of 5 stars. Not many choices in West Columbia but this is the best option to eat West Columbia. Plenty of seating

Best food for miles around and very friendly staff! If they ever have their strawberry pie, it’s too die for.

The 2 times I had Smokin R’s barbarque. It was good. I plan on treating my mom and stepdad soon. The shrimp and oysters plate was awesome. I had one Friday was an excellent choice. The other meal I had at the West Columbia Fire Station was excellent.

Smokin R catered out summer family reunion. Delicious brisket and ribs delivered to our house with all their great sides. My family was impressed. And our weekly run for the best chopped beef sandwich may soon come to twice a week. And now shrimp, oysters and fish on Fridays! Excellent staff… oh and don’t forget the cobbler

My family and I ate here when we were in town for my fathers funeral. It was very good. I will definitely eat there again when we go to visit. I had the BBQ sandwich and ate the entire thing. My son had the ribs and scarfed then down. My brother also enjoyed his chicken. There are not a lot of choices in wc but this may be the best restaraunt in the city.

For being practically in the middle of nowhere, this place has some great food! I got the 2 meat plate and it was delicious. Make sure you show up hungry if you are going to eat here because the portion size is quite large. The servers were very nice and courteous. Next time I come into the area I will be returning.

Great BBQ. Priced kinda high. Guess you get what you pay for. They could serve some slices of bread with the plates. Just saying. Ill be going back.

Had brisket and sausage on our way back from fishing and it has trumped any other BBQ I’ve ever had. A good shirt would be «my meats so good it melts in your mouth» — Stephen

eH… NO…on the ribs at least to say. It’s like when you slap a rack of ribs in the oven in a hurry, turn the heat on high for an hour and walah, throw sweet bbq sauce on top and you’re done. Customer service is high on the scale, great smiles and attitudes. Interior is pretty comfortable. A little on the dark side but semi low lighting is comforting at times. Lots of places to sit at, don’t think the 6 tables up front is the only place to dine, you have to go through that side door and you’ll be transposed to a little dining world. The brisket was tender, the sausage was decent but what the heck happened to the ribs? OMG pork jerky with bone lately? Sweet bbq sauce is good at times but not when it feels like you’re drinking a bottle of high fructose corn syrup straight from the bottle, way to sweet. Did not smell that«there is a smoking bbq pit with pecan or hickory wood» from the back so it’s probably a gas smoker with smoke pellets, I’ll keep looking when I drive by daily. Beer is available here.

For a small town like West Columbia, TX, this place packs a punch in flavor. I had a huge lunch special which included a drink, cobbler, meat and two sides and either gravy or BBQ sauce. DEFINITELY go with the BBQ sauce. It’s sweet and tangy! It has a nice country and small town feel. Definitely worth a try!

Meat is tender and delicious. BBQ sauce is sweet. Good sides. I think this is one of the only places to eat in town. Definitely worth a try.
