Great service, great wings and good food. A great place to host an out door party or family event. Or great night with the friends.

Hawthorne’s offers many gluten free options including sandwiches and burgers. Their waitstaff was very knowledgeable regarding gluten free cooking/cross contamination. They offered a gluten free beer made by Lakefront as well as some hard ciders. Their menu is very specific to which items can be accommodated for gluten free. We love the food, staff and atmosphere and definitely will keep returning.

This is a hidden gem! My husband has been here quite a few times but I’ve been here a handful. It’s family friendly or you could come on a date or even alone. The locals are kind and the servers are friendly. It has that hole in the wall bar feel but every walk of life that loves BBQ comes here. My number one most favorite thing on the menu is their artichoke soup. The bartender suggested it to me one day and since I’m always up for trying something new I said why not. It was surprisingly very very delicious! You would of never known you were eating artichoke. So good!

Not much else to say. We come here all the time, particularly on Sunday’s as kids eat free. My Wife loves the BBQ pulled pork, I just like one of everything…

Looking for a fantastic neighborhood bar to watch the Bears game… come to Hawthorne’s! Buy 2 drinks, alcoholic or not, and you get a wristband for a FREE wings and pig roast buffet! A wonderful ambience for the game, several TVs throughout indoors and an awesome outdoor area, with free jello shots when the Bears score… buy a 36 oz Bears mug for $ 10 and get $ 4/$ 5 refills on beer or bloody Mary’s…the best! We’ve come time and time again and look forward to Sunday’s every week!

Hard to believe that the kids took over and light pour again. Had take out this week which was good but Sunday evening not so good. Second time that kids run the place. Also second pour is ALWAYS bigger. We do lunch here two times a month. May need to think about this.

Hey when you want pub grub, this is the place to be. They have all sorts of volleyball going on. The food is is damn good. The staff well are typical to Cheers, where everybody knows your name. Dah dah dah dah and your always glad you came. Wednesday night is trivia. Beer specials are some of the best in the area. It’s really not a place for kids. We are in here at least once a week and tonight was no different from than any other night. Tonight was half price apps and we took full advantage of that. Also PBRs were on special $ 2 tall boys. We ordered the BLT dip, Nachos and Pot Roast. The BLT dip is very creamy and full of bacon flavor. It comes with pita and that was served warm and fresh. The Nachos don’t normally come with black olives but we added them and no attitude from the waitress. Those came out with plenty of cheese, meat and the rest was very fresh. The Pot Roast sliders are killer. It’s like eating a Pot Roast dinner on a bun. We were again very pleased with the typical experience here at Hawthornes. Stop in for some good grub.

We loved this place! The boys had wings and hubby and I had brisket and elote, sweet potato fries, onion rings and baked beans. The beans were kind of bland but everything else was great! I grew up in St Louis and miss eating outside all the time. Here the weather is not conducive to outside dining most of the year. So I was very happy to see plenty of outside dining spots here. There’s a bar and tables. It’s a big patio and they have 2 sand volleyball courts as well as a place to play bags. Our service could have been better as we were there earlier in the evening and it wasn’t crowded. We saw out server and other employees hanging out by a volleyball court while we’re trying to get drink refills. Guess that kind of goes with the patio!

Hawthorne’s is a really rare gem in the restaurant age of $ 15 hamburgers, couches instead of chairs, and questionable portion sizes. Here, you’ll really get a feel for a good old fashioned hometown pub where portion sizes are no joke. Laid back atmosphere with a large menu, Hawthorne’s is what I’ve been missing in the Chicagoland area. With decent beer specials and reasonable prices, I was happy to find that there was more than a few things on the menu I couldn’t decide between. With the help from our waitress, I went for the pot roast sandwich. If I only make 1 good decision for the rest of the summer — this sandwich would be it. To say I inhaled it is a gross(probably actually gross) understatement. The pot roast tasted homemade — the bun fluffy, and the cheese OVERFLOWING. Speaking of cheese… I have three convincing words for you: Fried.Cheese.Curds. Yes, you will definitely find these deliciously on the menu. I’m extremely thrilled to have found Hawthorne’s. It almost feels like a little bit of Wisconsin found its way to Illinois. I’ll be back, Hawthorne’s, so you just keep dem cheese curds coming.

Came here for drinks and BBQ with friends Saturday night and was impressed by a fun combination of great atmosphere, tasty food, and potent cocktails! We were a group of 6 and had a great server who kept the drinks coming, had endless menu suggestions, and recovered gracefully from a flub of my husband’s order. The group began with a round of cheese curds, which I didn’t partake in, but I DID order a wedge salad that was delicious — crisp, fresh, and lots of blue cheese! For dinner I got the brisket. It was tender, moist, and delicious. The actual flavor was a bit low key(I prefer the seasoning of Q’s brisket) but the texture was on point. The onion rings were amazing, and the cinnamon apples were a perfect side slash sweet treat. I also ordered two of their massive, 36 oz bloody marys. SOGOOD. Flavorful without being spicy, loaded with garnish without being obscene(though really, how many pickles is TOO obscene?) and VERY strong. I woulda been fine with one. By two, I needed a nap. A delicious nap. The outside really does have the classic backyard feeling to it — you can smoke, people are playing silly games, everyone’s chatting and laughing and milling around, there’s a fireplace in the center. Perfect scene for a summer night. We will definitely be back!

I don’t know if there is a better place in the Western burbs. It reminds me of a marina bar that you can sit back, enjoy a few beers… maybe solve a few world’s problems and plan your fantasy football draft. the wife and I had a legendary day sitting around a bucket of beers and setting our football draft strategy for this season. Service was perfect and wings were top 5. Oh yeah, hey Kool-Aid…there is a real whiffle ball field and beach volleyball courts. Why wouldn’t you set a neighborhood party at this perfect bar of summer! Go WAY out of your way to spend an afternoon here… sounds like the nights are just as great for the value beer drinking bar fly’s!

Very disappointed with tonight’s service(carry-out). — Ordered a round of mozzarella sticks, which according to the menu you are supposed to get«8»(See photo). When we got home and opened the box, there were only 6 in there(see photo). Considering they cost almost $ 8 with tax applied, this was UNCALLEDFOR. (Note: The actual«value» of even 8 of these probably is no more than about $ 1.75 — literally). * And should the restaurant make the claim perhaps that their«menu changed» or something to that affect, that is even less cool in a way. Serve 2 less for the same expensive amount? — Burgers were good, but for some reason tasted very salty — almost as if somebody had added salt on them or too much salt was in the beef. We don’t remember this previously. Parts of the burger literally tasted like eating a pinch of salt right out of a salt shaker. For the amount we paid tonight for our food and what we received(and didn’t receive), this upset us a lot. We have been there a lot and they usually have good food, but tonight was ridiculous, especially the stunt with the mozzarella sticks.

Great atmosphere on the patio! Bags, sand volleyball, horse shoes and what looks like giant beer pong… All good fun! Burgers were good. The loaded tots were really good! A great way to spend a Sunday evening!

I came here with my son Mike and girlfriend Makayla. We wanted to try to see what everyone was bragging about. I was totally disappointed at the BAD service. There was only one waitress for this massive place. She only took our order and came back 20later asking to repeat the order. She forgot what we had order. By the second time we placed our order they ran out off food so. I had to order what was left. When we got our food the waitress forgot our drinks so we all waited for her to make it to our table. She was also bartending which made our stay longer I think the food was ok not something delicious. The prices are was too high. I never went back. Not recommending it for food. Unless you like to drink and have fun with your friends that all

We ordered a bunch of stuff through my work. So happy! I had the pork sliders(didn’t like the big one tho), and the nachos. Way too much food! They are very generous on their portion sizes! Also, what I appreciate, is if they make a mistake(forgetting drinks for example), they more than make up for it. I can get behind that mentality, not all companies go the extra mile, even in their mistakes. Nice job! If only I could drink during the day, I’d be here every day at lunch hahahah

I’d give it two stars but Hawthorne’s Backyard Bar & Grill is basically average. Seems to be more of a bar than a restaurant. We were part of a large club group out for a mid-winter couples dinner. All up we were 16 people on a Saturday night. The first disappointment was the special. We came here for the AYCE crab legs, the Saturday special that runs from 5−9PM. When we got there the waitress told us the special is over and they can’t serve the crabs to anyone in our group. It was a little early to shut that deal down at 7:30, From the menu I got the brisket dinner. Their BBQ sauce was good but the meat was not. My girlfriend got pulled pork it was nothing special. Ordered fried cheese curds and they show up long after they’d been sitting around. Service was slow but acceptable. Next year we’re taking our group somewhere else.

Came in for a carry out order but stayed for a drink. Who could pass up dollar drinks?! Anything on the top shelf of the refrigerator was $ 1 on Thursdays, so it’s not always the same bottled drinks. Scored my favorite cider, Crispin! Bar’s got a great divey, local feel. Mini stockings hung above the bar, lights, festive much. Ordered the pot roast sandwich that came with melted provolone on a hoagie, fries, and a pickle. Pot roast was so tender and packed with flavor! I’d definitely get it again.

Wow. Y’know, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but this place was a winner. I came here for a holiday work party tonight. I was(un)fashionably late and, thus, flustered. Signage on the building indicated Left for the restaurant and Right for the bar. I took a shot in the dark and chose Left. There was a hostess stand and I was greeted as I tried to locate my coworkers. They were seated at a line of tables in a casual wood-panneled and sports on TV room. Cozy. Food and beer specials are posted. Apparently my coworker Sam frequents the joint. We talked food and he noted how we both limit our chicken + beef intake, BUT he caved on the wings tonight because they’re delicious. He suggested I order the Blackened Grouper Sammy($ 9.50), so that’s what I got. The hoagie is a bit large for the fish, but the garlic butter all but made up for it. The fish itself was nicely blackened and cooked — solid, but nicely flaked when cut. A seasoned(chipotle-type?) mayo accompanied it, but I didn’t use it because it was waay salty on its own. IMO a fresh and balanced sandwich. It’s HUGE, btw — enough for two or 3 meals. I’d absolutely order this baby again! Service was good. Our server was friendly and took care of multiple tabs. Bathrooms could use a sweep and a little scrub. My coworker did good: this was the PERFECT casual atmosphere with good solid food and good beer specials. = Relaxed coworkers able to enjoy one another’s company.
