La Difference Salon & Day Spa

So thankful to Olga who did a signature facial for me last night. I was so calm and relaxed and felt comfortable trusting my combination skin in her hands. It was a 70 minute facial worth every penny spent. Learned about this location after receiving a gift card from my boss. I would absolutely recommend Olga and the professional La Difference team. My first impression was a positive one as a gentleman opened the door for me and then wished me goodnight as I left. The whole package!

I scheduled an appointment for that day, with no problem. I went in for highlights and love the result! My mom has been to many salons in the area and likes this one the best.

This is the best salon I’ve found in the area! The stylists are always learning and keeping up with trends. Each person I’ve met there is professional and cordial. I’ve read a lot about the reception staff being rude– I can understand where that comes from, but perception is key. A busy salon needs order and the ladies at the front desk need to keep the flow.

I had never heard of La Difference until my children organized a visit for my Mother’s Day gift. I was instructed go there at an appointed time for a massage and pedicure. First impressions are everything. The place was clean, and looked comfortably upscale, in good taste without being over the top. There was an adorable grandfatherly guy reading a book on the porch waiting for his wife. Everyone at the front desk was good-​natured and pleasant. I had a 90 minute hot stone massage that was one of the most relaxing, therapeutic experiences I’ve ever had. All my stress melted away. I wanted to take the masseuse home with me! From there I was taken to the nail salon area and had a glass of wine with the pedi. I floated out of there, wondering if it was legal to feel that good. La Difference may not have the most youthful vibe, but there are no age restrictions on feeling pampered and cared for. Great parking too!

La Difference is most definitely the #1 salon in the West Chester area. I have been a loyal customer for years and will not go anywhere else. My colorist and stylist, Christy Cosgrove, is not only superb, she travels nationally, teaching others her exemplary techniques for Loreal. The appointment desk always manages to fit me in to her busy schedule and I leave the salon feeling beautiful and stylish. Don’t hesitate making an appointment with any of the stylists… all are friendly, knowledgeable and professional. You can’t go wrong with La Difference!!!

I went to La Difference for over a year. My stylist was polite and did a fine job. However, I found the front desk staff to be rude and unprofessional. The last straw for me was when I arrived for an appointment and was yelled at in a crowded waiting room by the receptionist (the area is small so crowded is relative). She declared that I was late for my appointment and that it started 15minutes ago. I looked at the receptionist and stated that the confirmation message that you left yesterday said 2:45. She looked at me, rolled her eyes and said I’ll see if your stylist can still take you. I responded by offering to replay the message that was left on my cellphone. Meekly, the response was no, it’s ok we should be able to take you. When I went to check out my stylist said I’ll see you in six weeks however the receptionist who was handling the payment for the cut and color did not offer me another appointment. Needless to say, I wasn’t going to ask for one because I already decided I wasn’t going back.
Overall, my stylist was fine but the average age of the cliental is 50+. The place is nice but it is not hip, cutting edge and needs some significant training of the front desk staff.
The receptionist in question has the same name as a stylist in the salon.
I was offered no apology for the lack of professionalism that was displayed. Truly, if I was late (and I was not per the confirmation phone message) that’s not how you treat a paying, repeat customer.

I was in dire need of a waxing during a short visit back to the area and schlepping into the city was not really an option so thankfully West Chester has places to choose from. Anna did my waxing and she did a great job. She’s very friendly and did a great job. I’m thinking about going back for a facial or massage so if I do I’ll let everyone know how those were.
PS: They have parking! Lots of it! Makes me wonder why I ever went into the city for things.
