Went back for the first time since I graduated WCU in 1989. Exactly the same. $ 1 Yuengling drafts cant be a bad thing. Awesome dive bar.

Liked this bar until my girlfriend went in with a REAL id and they denied called the cops and she got it back and she walked in to get a water and said you have to leave. Admit you were wrong and buy her a free drink. Not a way to run a business, admit your mistake and move on. Get a new bouncer. My house is never going back

My favorite West Chester bar. By far. Great location right in the middle of all the student houses and away from the overpriced nonsense downtown. The exact definition of a dive. $ 1 drafts and $ 5 pitchers all day and night, every day and night. Not extremely big but has a shuffle board along the one wall, crapload of neon beer signs, and a sweet old beer can collection above the bathrooms. Smoking is also allowed, which is cool because it’s a college bar.
Dwayne is the man. Respects his customers and they respect him back. Tries to shake everybody’s hand before they leave. Gotta love that.

Duane is awesome! Off the beaten path of downtown WC, you’ll get to hang with locals! They respect their customers!

So this place has 19 four or five star reviews. I’d love to know how many of these Unilocalers SMOKE because this place REEKS! Dirty ashtrays are everywhere.
Many of the points the good reviews make are true. Yes the beer and drinks in general are cheap. Yes the bartender was fine. Yes there is shuffle board. Yes it has that dive bar feel. Yes it is CASH ONLY.
This place has several things going for it but I just can’t get past the SMOKE. I won’t be back.

Great dive. Always good for a casual drink! The bar tenders are always friendly Just be OK with smoke.

Cheap beer. Came here after a night of drinking and drank more… Cheap and fun even tho the lighting is super bright. I live in California now but when I come back home I’ll be hittin this place up !

Best bar in West Chester!
They respect their customers, and you gotta respect them back for it. It has cheap beer and the best bartenders around. If you want the dive bar experience, this is it.

Cheap beer. An oddly well lit bar. I had a beer and left. It was just a bunch of guys yelling at each other. Cash only.

$ 1 drafts from a local brew. Sure they are maybe 10 OZ, but a buck? You gotta be kidding me. They also sell six packs. a bar selling six packs. «Come to the west coast!!» I shout from the rooftops. Of course a jukebox full of all my favorite jams, a shuffle board table, and oddly enough I adore you can smoke in here. Plus, who doesn’t love a bar that is next door to a pizza shop and opens at 8 AM? Perfect. Just the perfect dive bar in all of mankind and I will proudly sport around my new tshirt!

I drove to this bar to watch a playoff football game Sunday January 12^th and it was closed. Either they’re not open anymore, or just not open on Sundays, which doesn’t make any fucking sense, or they just happened to be closed on the day I attempted to go there. Either way it was a colossal waste of my time. Fuck this place.

Jake’s is perfect. Duane is the man, he always knows his regulars, and with a cool nod of his head, he just makes you feel like a badass. You’re good. He knows you.
Also, how can you beat dollar beers and inexpensive six packs?! You can’t. Jake’s is without flaw.

A genuine dive bar. Come here for cheap beer and no bullshit. ‘Nuff said.

In a world of chain restaurants, brew pubs and taverns Jake’s is one of the last few bars. A classic and if you look closely when the Phillies or Eagles play somewhere around the country, you will always see a $ 3 Jake’s T Shirt in the crowd.

Jake’s will always be my favorite place in West Chester. I miss living a few blocks away! Duane is, of course, legendary, the best bartender ever. It is a small place that can get a little crowded and smoky, but it is the best little neighborhood bar. All the bartenders are fun and friendly and it is a great place to chill out with a few friends and play some shuffle board. Put some Johnny Cash on the Jukebox and tell Duane it is a gift from Sheridan :)

Oh Jake’s, how I miss you. I’ve been away from WC for more years than I’d like to mention. I was happy to return to find that while most of WC has changed, Jake’s is still holding strong. Duane is still the man. The beer is still astoundingly cheap. Your hours of operation are fantastic as well.
I always make it a point to stop by Jake’s when I’m in the area, even if my British husband isn’t allowed inside b/​c he doesn’t have Pennsylvania ID. HA. Can’t be too careful I suppose!

So many good times here during college, especially when I lived two blocks away.
I’m coming home for the holidays and I plan to spend at least a few nights (or mornings) here.

Good times… $.50 draft all day every day.

It’s what a dive should be. Cheap beer, fun music, and you and your friends spending less than 10 bucks a piece getting hammered. That’s pretty much why this wonderful little broom closet exists.
It is a small place that gets packed so get there early!

In the category of Dive-​Bars, Jake’s is definitely a 5-​star winner. As Russ and Lee commented, they have the cheapest beers in West Chester and I’ve observed that the clientle is generally there for one reason and one reason only — to get their drink on. It’s small and gets very crowded the later you’re there (especially on weekends) so go early if you want to sit down. They have a shuffleboard game sandwiched behind the tables if you like to play and the neons are insanely bright. Duane is at once terse and pleasant and is indeed a living legend in West Chester.
Jake’s has been selling t-​shirts with the year printed on them for as long as I can remember, and I regret not buying one when I first visited in the 90’s. But, I still wear my «00» shirt with pride.
Jake’s is always a part of our annual «West Chester Dive Bar Crawl» along with the Square Bar, Jitter’s, Ryan’s, and Rex’s. We don’t have the courage for the Spare Rib — yet.
