Nice little place. Tasty food and great service. We live in Center City and came to the Blue Pear to meet friends for dinner. Enjoyed our cocktails and meal. Great to have such friendly service in an intimate sitting.

Had dinner with co-workers here this week and was really impressed. We ordered the truffle popcorn as an appetizer and it tasted like straight up movie theater popcorn(we weren’t upset by that, but some may be). There was so much that we wanted to try that we ordered an assortment of small & large plates to share. We ordered the Argentinian burger, grilled cheese w/tomato soup, tuna tartare, meatballs and the grits. Everything was amazing; my personal favorite was the Argentinian burger, it had really great flavor. For dessert we split the mint chocolate ice cream sandwich, French toast and lemon sorbet… again all were excellent. Would definitely recommend trying out this place.

Came here for dinner on a Friday night. Seemed mildly busy but we were seated right away. Service was good. We were given bread which was crusted w sesame seeds and salt I think. That or the butter added salt. Either way it was good. For drinks, I got the wine from Italy which was really good if you like red wine on the stronger side. For small plates my husband and I shared the octopus. Had been the octopus alone, we probably would not have liked it but being paired with the white beans, nuts which gave it texture and a favor full aioli type sauce, it all came together. My husband ordered the halibut which was one of the specials. He really enjoyed it and after trying it, agreed. I got the angentinean burger. I know others noted that it was amazing but I thought it was average. The burger was juicy and fries were crunchy, but in the end i thought it was just okay. Portions were good so unfortunately we were way too full for dessert. 2 glasses of wine, 2 beers, app, 2 entrees(halibut being the highest but we enjoyed it) came to $ 101 inc tip.

Another disappointment. Way overpriced with poor service. Seems to have been the same unimpressive food/service and overpricing as the Dilworthtown Inn. Once both places were on the mark, now we will never return again to both places.

Local spot with a lot of spunk! The tuna tartar is the best I’ve had anywhere. Super creative dishes with components that all work together to taste amazing. I always start with the truffle popcorn and the assorted olives to snack on, and the grilled romaine is always delicious. This past weekend I enjoyed the short ribs which were melt in your mouth tender. Great wine selection and attentive service.

Neighborhood gem!!! They have a lively bar, something on the menu for everyone, and excellent service. I went on a Friday night without a reservation and had to wait about 10 – 15 minutes for a party of two. That was fine– got a drink at the bar and by the time we were ready to be seated. The owner Jim is super friendly and treats you like family so you’ll see him constantly walking around greeting guests and making sure you have everything you need. This is what I appreciate most! As far as the food… The short ribs with grits are delicious and the Argentinian cheeseburger with shoestring fries is amazing! Make sure you also try the popcorn and homemade chips as well! I should also mention, my husband loves the deviled eggs here.(I’m not a fan of yolk so I have yet to try it) Overall 5 stars for food, ambiance and service — what else can I ask for?!

Didn’t eat here, but loved the bartenders. Friendly and on top of drinks. Cool vibe in here.

Over priced and over rated. The waitress was clearly overwhelmed. It was a busy Friday and they did not have anyone clearing tables. She was responsible for everything and it was clear that it was too much. Several other tables were served their entrees before we were even served our small plates/appetizers. We had planned on having dinner, but after waiting so long for our small plates we decided to skip it. Since there was no one to clear the table we were left with an over crowded table of dirty dishes. It’s not the end of the world but for the price and the casual side Dilworthtown, i expect better. Finally, the food was average.

This was our first time here. casual to business casual. I wouldn’t bring my young kids here. No kids menu. Fancier dinner menu than kids would appreciate. Argentinian Cheeseburger was the best burger I’ve ever had. Cute outdoor seating on the front porch. Short ribs were 7⁄10.

Have gone a few times recently for dinner as a party of two and as a group at the bar. Food is good and wait staff nice, we like at dinner we can bring wine and at no extra cost, we like it and never had a bad meal here. Been three times this year so far and we will be back,

The Mrs. and I were celebrating an anniversary tonight, called ahead for a fitting placement in the dining room. Climbed upstairs to eight tables in a room. Was seated by the«host» in a corner almost touching two other tables that had been seated not 10 minutes earlier. The remaining five tables remained empty the entire evening. Mrs. says to ignore our placement and enjoy. Ok, I’m in… menu was varied with«small and medium» plates. Octopus with chick peas and almonds worked for me. French onion soup was good tavern fare. Medium plates were Barnegat light scallops, initially a tad underdone but heavily sauced regardless, and braised short ribs that came coated in bbq sauce without warning. Not a winner for that reason. Wait staff was present. Plenty of other choice restaurants to drop $ 100 or more on. Move along, nothing to see here. Almost forgot, the piped in music was God awful. Rod Stewart, The Beatles, Frank Sinatra, Bad Company, The Honeydrippers, and Van Morrison. 1984 called and wanted a PBS fund drive.

Great appetizers, anyone would enjoy the calamari or tuna tartar. Well prepared seafood dishes, very fresh. Service was accommodating and friendly. Wasn’t a mind blowing experience and not a cheap place to eat but there are many glimmers of a quality establishment.

I work in a restaurant with a comparable menu, so I was eager to try things out here. Came with my best friend before a night out on the town at WCU and had a great time. I had the tuna tartare, Brussel sprouts, and wedge salad, and we split the deviled eggs to start. Everything was up to par except for the tartare, which I found just average. My friend had a burger, which was good, and the fries were up to snuff. We had the french toast for dessert, which I would not normally consider a dessert, but it was so good! Perfect amount of sweet and filling(honestly I can’t remember if we even finished it). On a side note, Molly was our waitress and absolutely fantastic. She was attentive but not overly so, pleasant, and made our meal quite enjoyable. If you dine here, I’d recommend requesting Molly — she’s sweet and does her job like a pro.

1. Waitstaff needs replacement and/or more training. 2. Menu needs reworking and pricing strategy needs to be revisited. We’ve always loved the Blue Pear, but after last night, my family and I won’t be going back any time soon. We were looking forward to a special after Christmas meal, but instead we got an over-priced, under-served experience. My brother-in-law ordered the scallops($ 30) and got THREE scallops on ½ cup of fava beans. The small plates are confusing — some are not big enough to be entrees, and some are, but they are all priced in the same range. For $ 11.50, you can get 5 tiny chicken nuggets on sticks and some truffle honey mustard. The nuggets used to be our favorite starter, but now just seems borderline exorbitant. Our service was horrendous. We were in a back room upstairs because we had a(well-behaved) baby with us, and we saw our waitress a total of thrice throughout the meal. Our drinks and water glasses sat empty for over 25 minutes, and my mother had to go in search of our waitress when her soup was served(by someone else) without a spoon. We would have gotten at least another round of drinks for the six of us if she had waited on us more. When the menu gets revamped and the waitstaff learns to wait on all their tables, even the ones tucked in the back, we’ll be back, but not before then. There are other great places to eat around here.

We had dinner at the Blue Pear looking for a more casual place than Dilworthtown. We looked at the menu and found a number of entrees that looked good, but we were tempted by the specials and ordered them. Quite surprised when we received our bill and our entrees were $ 37 and $ 35 when the entrees on the menu were in the mid to upper $ 20 range. Really was misleading to us and if the prices for the«specials» are that much more than what is featured on the menu, this should be mentioned during the verbal presentation of the specials or they should be printed so the diner can make a fully informed choice. Also, it would be good to remove the big plastic bucket in the main dining room — looks like one of those buckets you get at Home Depot. Pretty unappetizing especially for these prices.

Good food, but the service in this place needs a complete replacement! Yikes! Lost reservations for a birthday party so they sat us in an overly crowded table for our group with a waitress who couldn’t have served more than 3 meals in her life. It took over an hour for the meals to be prepared(the place is NOT that large). So I found myself having to chase down the waitress in the bar area for new drinks. The reputation is the place has gone to their heads, me thinks. I’ll stop going for a good 6 months to see if they close or fix it.

Cozy bistro with a delicious menu. I started with the pumpkin martini which I will dream about for the remaining autumn season! Our table had the pork which was paired with grilled peaches, the salmon and then scallops. All dinners were perfectly seasoned and the portions were appropriate. If I lived in the area I would be a regular.
