Decent grocery store! Visiting from Seattle and staying nearby for a couple weeks, I made a few trips here to stock up on groceries, finding almost everything I needed. Their produce section kind of makes no sense, and their bread section is VASTANDAMAZING. I like that they don’t have any kind of loyalty program. I hate having to give«my» phone number out at my local grocery chains so they can market at me.

I’ve been here twice recently, with mixed results. The store is smaller than some of the other Hannaford stores, so the products are laid out differently. For example, it took me several tries to find the Mexican food shelf because it wasn’t where I expected and it wasn’t well-labeled. On my first visit, the young employee was standing at the end of her register looking bored — I was hesitant to walk up to her, but she caught my eye so I felt obligated to check out with her. She ran my items through just fine, and I swiped my EBT card. She started chatting with the customer behind me, so when the chicken from the deli didn’t go through, I didn’t understand why. She didn’t offer any explanation other than it was the«hot chicken.» Rather than argue, I paid the balance with cash. As I was trying to put my money and receipt away, she started ringing up the next customer — who invaded my space by the card-swiper because he was in a hurry. I almost didn’t go back, but since it’s a convenient stop between work and home and my housemates needed last-minute groceries, I tried again. The second time, a different register associate was much more pleasant. Needless to say, from the other reviews, I expect my future experiences to be hit-or-miss. Customer service will always make or break a business, and Hannaford would do well to remind its employees of such.

This Hannaford is a big, clean one in a good location. I am only giving it two stars, however, because of the service. Every time I have gone to this Hannaford I have been treated rudely by the staff, including when I have used my military ID for purchases. I know this is not isolated because others who frequent the store have corroborated on the discourteous nature of the workers. I have gotten to the point that I actually avoid going to this location if I can help it just so I don’t have to deal with the workers.
