It was a pretty quiet day. Immediately after the cashier finished ringing us up he handed me the receipt then proceeded to leave the register to stand and chit chat with coworkers, also leaving us standing there with our groceries on the conveyer belt. It was weird and rude. I don’t mind helping to bag when a store is extremely busy, but this was ridiculous. He made no effort to help. i don’t think that it is an unreasonable expectation for someone to perform tasks within their job description. There was no emergency that called him away. He stood there, right in front of the checkout area socializing. I would also like to clarify that I always help with bagging. I have no issues with bagging my groceries (especially, when it speeds up/​helps to not slow down customer traffic).
