My family has been getting take out/delivery and eating in at Mushroom forever. Over the years their service and quality has declined, but compared to all the other Chinese take out places in the area, I would still always choose them. Delivery is inconsistent; sometimes we order and it takes an hour, other times it only takes 10 minutes(we order the same amount of food every time.) Many times they have gotten to my house and forgotten an item. After arguing on the phone for a while, they will bring what they forgot, but at that point you are already done with dinner. if that had happened once then I understand, it happens, but this is something that has occurred frequently. Years ago when you dined in, they would serve Chinese noodles, but they have stopped doing that. If you know to ask for the noodles, they will halfheartedly bring them over. When you order take out, you get a bag of noodles for each soup you order. So basically they stopped serving them at the restaurant because they’re cheap. Also, when you order take out or delivery and you spend over a certain amount of money, you get something for free(fried rice, a soup, California roll). Unfortunately, if you are not aware of that deal, then you will miss out on it. One night when I had placed an order for delivery(well over $ 50), I forgot to ask for the free Cali roll that comes with it. I remembered and quickly called back, and after arguing a bit the girl finally said OK and added it to the order. To me that’s really shady, people spend a lot of money on their food; but if you don’t remember to ask about that free item, more than likely they won’t let you know. Mushroom does put on a good hibachi show. I’ve done it a few times but personally I would rather just dine regularly. The wait staff ranges from completely impersonal to just okay and some of them can even be rude at times whether you’re taking out or dining in. The food tastes a million times better when you dine in vs. take out/delivery. They have great egg drop soup, chicken and broccoli, General Tso’s chicken, and a lot of their sushi rolls are delicious. Mushroom is a traditional Chinese food place, so don’t expect any of the more modern Asian fusion style type of cooking. Over the many years I have been going here, I don’t think they have ever added new items to or updated the menus. So yea, the food is good for the most part, but extremely traditional if that’s what you’re looking for. Their green tea is really good too. My personal opinion is if you want really good Chinese food with great service, go to Ginza a few towns over in Massapequa right by the mall. They do take out as well.

I had passed this place 40million times and never saw it until Saturday. I went there with family and although being in a strip mall it is very nice. They have super huge televisions all around and they even do hibachi. He were seated by a very nice hostess to a clean table. We were give the Kani salad which was a nice touch and it tasted ok. I ordered the Thai curry chicken and I wanted it extra spicy. They did there best but it wasn’t spicy enough. The sauce had an excellent taste and the chicken was very tender. I recommend this dish to all those that want to try curry but are afraid of or just that don’t like spice. It is an excellent introduction to curry. The beer was great and everything everyone else got was good as well. They do have a sushi bar but I did not try any. There was no seafood smell so that let me know that everything is fresh maybe next time I will try that. All and all it was a good time with great people and good food. I recommend this spot it was a very nice surprise in a good way.

Nice ambiance & customer service but the food was awful. I had the vegetable curry, I could one take 2 bites & the rest was tossed. The portion size was huge but food had no taste.

Nice décor, friendly at door, had to repeat myself a dozen times to tell them I did not want to be rushed, asked specifically to give me main dish order after I finished my soup, despite this not one but two servers came up to me interrupting to ask what I wanted for a main course, not once, not twice, but three times for one a 5 for the other before I could finish my soup. However, they were less attentive with brining noodles,(not provided unless requested twice — and stale), dish ordered was not what came to table, when I complained I was told that I was wrong, menu description was not even close, also asked for dish to be made very spicy, came our bland. Waste to time and money.

Food was ok, when I got the bill for a 2 person party they added a 18% gratuity on the end of the bill, the service was maybe worth 5% gratuity. after I paid the bill the change they gave me was with an 18% gratuity, gratuity is only added to the bill on parties of 10 or more. It was not open for discussion with these people. This customer will not be returning and hopefully you will not either.

I just keep saying that I shouldn’t have eaten inside. Wow, what a let down this place has become. We used to order from this place all the time and the food was always great. Delivery was relatively quick and the food was always fresh. Then they suddenly closed for«renovations» and when we found ourselves in the shopping center where they are located on a Tuesday night at 9 and realized they were open again, we decided to eat in. I’m not sure what renovations they did but I think they need some more. Sure the place is nice inside but it has the heavy stench of old oil that lingers about which is a shame because the place really does look nice. While I am on the subject of appearance, I want to address the staff.(and those of you who know me know hat I do not put that much stock into appearance) Upon entering I notice that the host of the restaurant is dressed in a T-shirt and shorts. I’m all for being casual but there is a time and a place, and a restaurant that bills itself as a nicer one should have their hosts dress the part. Even the«sushi Chefs» looked odd. Not what I have come to expect from a place that before my visit had always made me assume everything was clean and fresh. Unfortunately the experience only went downhill from there. After sitting down we were greeted by our waiter who was very friendly and helpful. I can not say enough good things about him. We were give water and hot tea and we asked for two cokes(which were going flat) and we decided on two apps and two mains to share. The apps came first and we got the boneless spare ribs and fried dumplings. The dumplings were good and seemed fresh. The ribs were another story. What they brought out to us were the worst boneless spare ribs I’ve ever gotten. They were limp, greasy, oily and dry inside all at the same time. To me they seemed like they were microwaved. We sent them back after two bites. In my lifetime I can count on one hand the number of times I have sent food back . The mains we ordered were the chicken with spicy tea sauce which was very good and the other was the house special Chow fun which was lackluster at best. It lacked flavor and the noodles were one giant gelatinous lump. As I mentioned before the only saving grace was the wait staff. They were genuinely nice and helpful. I am so disappointed that a place that I had like has gone by the wayside. I try to give the benefit of the doubt as to why they were so very bad that night and I just can not. There is no forgiveness for sending out microwaved boneless ribs, not ever. I will let some time pass before I even think about trying them again, if I ever do. My quest for truly great Chinese food in Lindenhurst continues…

Went for lunch. Had two rolls, soup and edamame. All came out pretty quick(restaurant was pretty empty as it was early). Definitely will be back again.

Ehh. It’s pricey and the food doesn’t hold up. I have a severe sesame allergy, and the staff didn’t understand the concept of «no sesame please, I’m allergic». When they finally got my food right(minus the sesame) it fell flat, flavorless.

Dine-in: Service was really, really, really slow, the Thai food wasn’t great — lacked flavor, but Chinese and sushi was great. Fresh and creative rolls. Takeout — More traditional Chinese takeout. Again, avoid the Thai, it’s just so boring. Priced well.

Delicious! From start to finish! I enjoyed a California roll to start, it was great! Nice size pieces, not to big they fit in my mouth with out choking like some other places. Dinner continued with beef negimaki, this had asparagus and scallion in the middle, it was amazing! The beef was so tender and the asparagus was crisp and tatted so fresh. My husband had shrimp and chicken teriyaki, he said the best he has had in a very long time! The best part was the little pot of tea. You don’t find that around much anymore. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the staff were outstanding! I would go back anyway of the week!

Overpriced and the woman at the front has such a nasty demeanor. Overall, place is generally dead inside but is clean and they have hibachi which is cool.

The food is good, but the service is AWFUL. They’re rude, give you dirty looks, and don’t even greet you or say have a nice day or thank you. I heard rumors about how rude they were but after going there twice and it being the same way, I stand by this review.

Girls night out the other night. 3 of us shared: shrimp chow fun, vegetable dumplings and chicken with pineapple. Atmosphere: In a strip mall next door to Yo Luv it yogurt. Easy to miss but I had seen it a few months back and it looked nice so I wanted to try it. Inside is much nicer than a take out place. Not glamorous and amazing but nicer than your average chinese restaurant. Food: There was nothing left on any of the the plates when we left. I really enjoyed what we ordered and it wasn’t greasy. Cost: $ 39 including tip(we had a coupon which helped), so it was $ 13 for each of us. Not bad for what we got. Portions were not huge but were just right for 3 people. Service: Nothing wrong with it. They were quick and left us alone. We didn’t stay long enough to see if they refilled water glasses promptly or not. We did not try the hibachi. I plan to go back and try it. I was happy and would definitely return!

There are no vegan friendly options and no substitutes. Ordered an avocado salad only to find that when it was delivered, there was roe and crab meat all throughout the salad. Wanted to like this place but the customer service for takeout was a disaster even after ordering through grubhub. I was told over the phone repeatedly that all the soups have animal products and you can’t substitute anything at all by the employee at Mushroom. Should’ve just ordered Gino’s.

Having been out of state for a while I was excited to get some good Chinese food! During our holiday shopping we came across mushroom and decided to give it a go! The lunch menu(which included Chinese and Japanese selections) was good and was very reasonably priced. I ordered an egg roll – very classic, egg drop soup – what u would expect, and chicken lo mein – disappointing. The chicken in the lo mein was dry and the noodles were thicker than what I consider ‘normal’ lo mein noodles. Additionally, I asked for crunchy noodles for the soup and they said they didn’t have that! Is that not odd for a Chinese restaurant? Not sure that I would go out of my way to eat here in the future.

Food here is always good to above average. Tonight we did delivery and ordered a Whole Peking duck, garlic chicken, egg rolls and crab rangoons. The order arrived sans pancakes for the Peking Duck, a little disappointed that it took 40 minutes for the pancakes to arrive after I called to say they forgot to include them. Also disappointed that they didn’t offer anything to make this right. So the cold Peking duck was ok. The egg rolls and crab rangoons were very good, the Garlic Chicken extra spicy had a wonderful flavor.

The best Chinese/Japanese restaurant in Long Island in my opinion. What can I really say? I just can’t recommend one or two dishes… everything I’ve had is good… well except for this coconut chicken… ugh…lol… Pros Huge selection Big servings Great tastes Helpful staff Cons Certain times, one of the main hostess is a little mean Thai selections could be better Coconut chicken is disgusting Overall if you are in Long Island… especially if you are in the south shore, don’t be fooled by all these fancy looking Chinese/Japanese restaurants… Mushroom is the best restaurant in Long Island in that category… good food for good prices

I’ve been coming here for years and been through many changes but some things have never changed such as the most delicious Chinese food I’ve ever had the shrimp and chicken with basil is a must as is the pineapple fried rice !! As for sushi and hibachi you can’t go wrong either my husband and I have even had a private party here for our rehearsal dinner and our guests could not believe how accommodating they are !! Also a little tip sit at the sushi bar and they always give you free appetizers :) and make sure you give them A tip and they will remember your face and the freebies continue to get bigger !! We always give them a 5 $ plus the tip to our server ofcourse !! We love mushroom and go almost once a week
