Took Granddaughter there one afternoon for root beer floats. I know it’s an old place and they work with a small budget but… the place had an old smell, every seat is ripped and floats were just avg. I love home owned old style eating but won’t go back here.

Pete’s has been around longer than I have. It used to be the old A&W. Great for dogs and burgers and root beer floats!

Love this place! Went for breakfast, food was affordable and yummy, the ham steak was served as it should with the bone in! The ambiance is perfect, that local breakfast joint where you know your server by name. Worn leather booths, vintage roman blinds and old school lamps. People who don’t like this place should just stay in their corporate bubble;)

I’ve been going to Pete’s for 30 years since it was A&W. They make the best chocolate shake’s I’ve ever had. Service has gone down hill over the past few years. Last Friday I went in and ordered a chocolate shake and they said they were closing and couldn’t(wouldn’t make one) I didn’t realize the time and said, oh I’m sorry and left. I got in my car and it was only 8:50 so the kids that were working there just didn’t want to assist a customer. No wonder they are closing at 9 pm on a Friday night during the summer because they are refusing business. Tonight I went back to give them another shot. It was 7:30 this time so everything should be fine to get my chocolate shake that I’ve now been craving for over a week. I go in and they told me this time that they couldn’t make me one because on Sunday’s and Thursday’s they clean the machine and wont make one. It seems simple, and probably not a big deal for most, but after 30 years the kids that now run the joint have lost you a few customers at least.

Pete’s is a classic! Daily specials that feature a variety of different items. The tenderloin sandwich is about the best ever… and the double cheeseburger and fries can’t be beat! Sunday breakfast and the biscuits and gravy are the way things are supposed to be. Try it you will like it!!!

This place is a total throwback to the past of Wentzville as a hard scrabble railroad and manufacturing town; clientelle and all. The gravely voiced lady who takes the orders has the charm of a cactus, but that’s part of the charm of the place. Nothing has changed in this place inside since it was built as an A&W Restaurant in the 60s. You can sit around the faux firepit on a chair, at the counter, or in one of the many well worn brown vinyl booths. It came in at about $ 10.50 for a Double Cheeseburger, Fries, Cole Slaw, and a root beer which they make on site. I thought that seemed like a lot as I paid for the order, then I got my burger, nicely topped with lettuce and tomatoes, and was HUGE! Seriously, this is the best burger in St. Charles County; the kind of burger you’d expect to get at an old fashioned 60s drive in like this. Fries were decent, although they have cheap, off brand ketchup that’s kinda funky. Slaw wasn’t the greatest but was decent, but its worth four stars for the burger and root beer alone.

Grew up eating at Pete’s, used to be called A&W. Not much(if anything) has changed and it is still the best burger around. Floats and coleslaw is great too!

This is the place to be especially if you want to experience the good old days. Food cooked to order and delivered to you. Try the tenderloin sandwich. Good stuff. Cheap fast breakfast and time to visit with the regulars. Bottomless cup of good coffee at served hot at your table.

Old diner that looks like it hasn’t changed since it was built back in the 60s. Wood paneled walls, old original booths, a round wood bar table with a fireplace in the middle(non working) and of course, the original green and orange shag curtains. This place is like going back in time. Fortunately, the food is really good! The serve huge iced mugs of rootbeer, no ice, and it is soo tasty. We ordered a bucket of fried chicken, be alert it takes 20 minutes to fry up fresh. We ordered rootbeer and onion rings to tide us over :) the chicken was perfectly crispy, not too greasy, and we straight up devoured that bucket. I’m pretty sure we will be back again!

Ordered breakfast here and it was OK. My eggs were overcooked. My wife ordered biscuits and gravy and it was barely warm and the biscuits were doughy. We might give this place one more shot for lunch sometime… MIGHT!

Great old fashion diner. I have tried: catfish, burgers. They are famous for their tenderloin sandwiches,(next time for me). Food is great. Service is good, Pete is always there as he has been for 40 years. Tried their breakfast once. Biscuit and gravy could feed a small army and tastes great. Bacon and sausage links are the same thing.
