Amazing, vast, beautiful, and remote. Many trails to walk, bike or take the car. Great place to visit.

This place is amazing. The look out area is nothing short of spectacular. And if you are up for a pretty good hike, make sure you hit the turkey path!

We took a 4 hour covered wagon tour through the basin of the canyon, along the Marsh Creek. Our guide was full of facts and interesting info the entire trip to the base of the steps leading to the waterfall. Many many wooden steps, but there is a railing! My Fiancé got great pictures at the top! There was rain off and on, but the covered wagon prevented us from getting a drop. The quiet scenic trip was relaxing, especially when we passed wet and tired bike riders and hikers. Great day.

Very cool spot. Hard to find at first(stupid GPS) but great views. Trails with lots of waterfalls. Can’t wait to come back and ride the 60 mile pine creek trail. Definitely a must see.

Make sure to bring a GPS system of some sort because there are not too many signs and is difficult to find using printout directions. Bring bug spray Visiting in a rainy day is not a bad idea if you don’t mind getting wet — the grey sky brings out the green in the trees! I recommend bringing food. I had a hard time finding a place to eat nearby. The path for bike riding is very smooth — no need for a mountain bike.

If you’re from Philadelphia you’re probably familiar with the Wissahickon Valley, a beautiful wooded valley with a creek and a dirt road running through the center. The Pennsylvania Grand Canyon is the Wissahickon Valley on steroids. The Grand Canyon is a 50 mile long wild valley with a creek and dirt road in the middle. The dirt road is a rail trail perfect for bike riding or horseback riding. Deer and other wildlife are plentiful, and you’ll see them. Bugs are also prevalent, and bug spray is a must. The canyon is the perfect place for a scenic bike ride or hike in a pristine natural environment in the middle of the mountains, definitely worth a visit.

This is a little known place for many people that really is worth seeing… it’s a world unto itself around here… Small general stores, at the foot of the mountain, little towns around it. and the chance to see amazing large raptor sized birds… this is a really natural place… with little streams around the outskirts and more. You could spend a week around this place and the sourounding towns and not get bored…

There is a terrific hiking path here, the Turkey Trail which is part of the Leonard Harrison Park. The path offers breathtaking views of the canyon, forests, waterfalls and wildlife. I believe there are other State Parks and trails but we loved the location we were in and did not leave the beautiful spot all day. We are bikers and regretted that we didn’t take our bikes along because there is a bike trail marked as being 50 miles in distance and from what we later learned, offers an easy path for the long ride. Hikers can also use this trail which, I believe, ends in Jersey Shore, PA. I don’t like to use harsh bug sprays but you will want to use some type of bug repellent because, you know, there are ticks everywhere. The black flies are also unbearable, but fortunately they leave at the end of Spring. We normally spray the bottom of our hiking boots with the mean stuff, so it doesn’t touch our skin and that seems to work well. We also use Herbal Armor. . Don’t forget, the dog needs to be protected too.
