3.5 stars. I stayed at Misty Harbor last year and took advantage of their early spring off-season rate, and plan on doing that again soon. Its your basic motel from the outside, but the rooms are actually like small condos and efficiencies, complete with a small kitchen with pots, silverware, everything you’d need to prepare a meal– we went to a nearby grocery store and cooked a few times, which was a great way to save money on vacation. The room we had was a one bedroom with a pullout couch in the living room, and there are many other types of rooms with different accommodations. The décor and furniture are definitely dated and the wireless hardly worked for me. Also, the room comes with a DVD/VCR combo, for which you can borrow a DVD(just a few selections) or VHS tape(many, many selections. I find this to be charming.). The recently redone indoor pool and hot tub were really nice. The motel is within walking distance of the beach, and driving distance of many other cool towns, including Portland(about 30 minutes by car). All in all this is a nice place to stay on a budget, and they have all kinds of package deals on their website.

Friendly Courteous crew. Great location. Claw to everything. Very reasonable. We’ll be back.

Decent place to stay with family but the fact that they advertise free wifi and it never works is infuriating.

We heard that the Wells ME area was a nice place for a vacation, but beyond talking with friends we did very little planning or research. People who pick a vacation spot without doing their homework get what they deserve — which in our case was four nights at the Misty Harbor Resort Motel. Maybe this is nice for a resort for a beach combers hangout, but it’s a lot worse than anyplace I stay throughout the year on business. BTW I have some strange bites on my legs and arms and my scalp itches.

Nasty! This motel had somewhat good looking rooms. But the fact that they gave us a SMOKING room when we didn’t request one, ruined it. The management was also very rude about fixing this problem. They thought that Febreze would solve the problem! I cannot believe this place would treat paying customers like this. I wound NEVER stay here again! Also, we would’ve stayed here if they had fixed that problem, which we didn’t.

I stayed here last summer(2011) with family and friends. I believe I booked online for some dates in late August or September. However there was a supposedly bad hurricane rolling in that weekend. I called the hotel directly 1 – 2 days before I was suposed to go and they told me they would let me cancel the reservation or keep it and use it for a later date. Later, I called to reschedule, which was a breeze. Since I was already paid, they gave me a partial refund upon arrival because my new reservation was off season and costed less. I took the Amtrak from Boston and we prearranged taxis to pick us up at the train station. We got to Misty Harbor fairly quickly and easily. Once checked in, we went to our room and it was what we just about what we expected. It was clean and functionable. We had a little bit of trouble finding the pots and pans at first, but we called the front desk for help. We also called for a couple of extra blankets and they helped us there as well. The rest of the facility was good. There was a playground that the kids enjoyed. They did get muddy as water pooled on the bottom of the slide, but no biggie. The pool wasn’t anything exceptional but it was clean and got the job done. The hot tub was also good. I see on their website the hot tub has been renovated for 2012. It looks good. The gym is small, and you can be seen using the equiptment if you’re walking to the checkin office which I find a little annoying… But I didn’t go there to use the gym as much as to relax. The sauna was also good. The beach was a bit of a walk away. It was tough on my mother and it would have been for the kids as well. There was a Hannaford supermarket nearby, and it was easy to walk to. My brother took the kids near by for mini-golf, which was a little hard to find but fun once they got there. We took cabs to neighboring towns like Ogunquit, but during the peak season there are shuttles that can take you to all these places. I would stay at the Misty Harbor Resort if I were to visit Wells again. If you go off season, a car would be best to get around.
