Captain Marden’s is exactly what it is and nothing more. A clean, cute place to grab a seafood themed meal. You are not going to linger and enjoy a view or sip wine(no liquor is served here). Food is solid and service is good. It is clean and kind of bare. It is just fine.

Lobster salad + market cod, let cool 4 hrs while driving back to NJ, add a coffee break, then a pee break. Once home broil with pfifferling, fresh veggie medley, Cotes Du Rhone Rosé, outstandingly Tasty! Thank you Laurie! The deli case(?) with all the harvest displayed was amazing — an oceans bounty there for the buying! The Capt and his crew were on deck and ready to put ashore! Land ho! We’ll be back with an empty hold ready to fill

Disappointing!!! They brought the wrong meal for me(I ordered trout and the bill said trout, but they served me salmon), and the fish and chips ordered by another member of our party was overdone and not particularly tasty. The calimari was just the little circles(no tentacled bits). Just VERY disappointing overall. I used to like this restaurant. I have not been in years. No desire to go back anytime soon

Not ideal breakfast place with kids. I was not happy with the fruit option, instead of home fries. Other table got variety of fruit(while sliced banana, strawberry, grapes, etc) We got a few pieces of fruit. Especially for the kids’ place, one kid got s few pieces of grapes and honeydew. Another one got a few pieces of water melon. Also, water was not served at the beginning. Overall, it was disappointing.

Wait staff is horrible. We were shown a table quickly, and after 10 minutes, or so, we had to ask a different waiter for menues. The original waiter appeared shortly thereafter, sheepishly apologized, threw our menues on the table, and skipped off. Paying for our meal required one of our party hunting down Ms. sheepish once again. The food was mediocre. The clam chowder is of the Clam Pudding variety — so full of potato starch that it could support a spoon standing straight up. No one at the table took more than a few spoonsful before pushing it aside. The fried oysters looked delicious but had no flavor — how is that possible? One of us had the Lobster Taco and it was good. The other meals were much of the same; no flavor, no taste. It makes me think that they have all of their menu items frozen, and reheat them in a microwave oven(this would explain the lack flavor, as microwaves do this to food). The menu is not too pricey, but on the basis of the poor service, and the quality of the food, I’d say it is way over-priced. Too bad, their frozen items sold in many of the local groceries are actually pretty good; just don’t microwave them.

I’ve only eaten here 2 – 3 times and the food is tasty, but inconsistent. The first time that I ordered the Captain’s Platter, it had a lot of fresh seafood fried nicely. But the second time that I ordered this platter, it must have been undercooked or something, because I got extremely sick after eating it. The plus side is that everyone who works here is extremely nice and friendly.

Got there on a Thursday during a slow lunch hour. I Asked for a table for 3, she said to pick any seat, then realized the rest of my party wasn’t there yet and said she told me to wait instead. The dining room was about a quarter full. I asked if I could sit anyway because I was on lunch break and would have to return to work. She murmured ‘house rules’ and walked away. I could understand if it were busy or they were busier, but she was rude just because. The waitress wasn’t any better on the service level either. Didn’t acknowledge us when we sat. After about 10 minutes, came to the table and just asked if we knew what we wanted to order, right to the point. The food was good and at a decent price. It was served in a reasonable time as well. If I eat here again, I’ll opt for takeout.

I had a very tasty lobster and crab meat salad for lunch. The vegetables were crisp and the two meats each tasted flavorful and well-balanced. I will return.

Service was Great! We sat at their bar area due to the wait time. This place is known to have a bit of a wait so be patient, it’s worth it! It was National Lobster Day(9⁄25) so we had to honor this day and order their Twin Chix! Two 1lb lobsters and one side. We also had their Maryland Mini Crabcakes, which are amazing. Just the right amount to get you started for your main course. The lobster was the BEST I’ve ever had! Very tender, not chewy or rubbery, cooked to perfection. I would definitely come back if I’m ever back in the Boston area. Oh! The best part was it’s only $ 15.95! Wow

The food here is decent. The seafood is average to slightly above average. Non seafood items are on the menu for those who don’t like fish or seafood. I like their fried clams with bellies. Portions are average and prices are average. The parking lot is small and fills up quickly. The atmosphere is casual, definitely nor upscale like Legal Seafood in Chestnut Hill. Service is quite good with friendly and helpful staff. There is an attached fish market with great looking fish and seafood; the selection is excellent and everything looks fresh.

I just came home from Captain Marden’s, where I ordered two take out meals. They came in styrofoam containers. When we opened them, we were surprised to see that there were maybe 5 French fries In one order and 7 in the other. I could count them! At $ 15.00 dollars each, I expect to have these meals teeming with fries! Potatoes are cheap and certainly nothing to be skimped on! Give people an ample amount and they will return. I know you cater to an elderly crowd in the restaurant, but we’re not all over 70 with«bird like» appetites. C’mon, Captain Marden’s, get it together and change your take out containers, so customers get a decent value for their money! A generous portion of French fries isn’t going to break you. I won’t order out from you again… I’ll go to Legal seafoods.

Pluses: Amazingly fresh seafood. Specials are usually terrific option. Great staff. Minuses: Want more choices for veggie sides. I usually have to order a double lettuce and tomato to avoid squash, potatoes, rice. And go for grilled if you can; I’ve tried broiled without the crumbs and it is too dry. They have updated the menu with more options. And we were told that you can call in when the market is open to have certain fish set aside if you’d like it for your meal, and it’s not on the regular or specials menu.

This place is great!!! They are the nicest people and have the freshest seafood ever! Went with friends last night and got there in the nick of time, as shortly thereafter there was not a seat nor a parking space to be had! I had the fried scallops, which were so incredibly fresh and the batter was very light. I chose 2 sides, french fries and cole slaw. The fries were crispy and cooked perfectly and the cole slaw was super fresh and crunchy. I been there for breakfast several times as well, having both an omelet as well as as blueberry pancakes. Everything has always been served hot, and was delicious.

I never had thought to bring in dinner from Captain Marden’s but when Unilocal suggested they were the best lobster roll in the area, I gave it a try and was pleasantly surprised. Food was great, service was friendly(we ordered take-out, but still, customer service counts!) and orders were generous. The lobster roll and crab cake sandwich were both big hits. Definitely adding this to the take-out rotation! Though not sure on dining in, it did look to be more of an elderly crew. Can’t knock though, it until you’ve tried it!

Yeah I’m not really sure what all the hype is about for this place. My boyfriend and I stopped in last night around 6:30 and there was a 30 minute wait which we figured wasn’t so bad. There is a large elderly crowd which should have threw me off from the start. After finally getting seated we ordered the fried calamari appetizer, he got the seafood primavera, and I got the baked lobster. Plus: The fried calamari was perfectly breaded and fried. Downside: None of the food had any flavor. Again this is why I said the elderly crowd should have thrown me off. It was somewhat surprising I mean no spices or flavor at all. The baked lobster was alright, they used way too many breadcrumbs in the stuffing mixture for my taste. Overall the service was nothing to die for. We got seated right in the front so two hostesses were literally standing an inch away from us at all times so there was absolutely no privacy. Our waiter also never came by to check on how we were doing and the service took surprisingly long. I don’t think I’d head back anytime soon for a sit down dinner but I definitely would return to buy seafood from their store.

This place is great. They have the freshest seafood and the prices are so much better than going downtown boston. They have great clam chowder, and on monday’s they do $ 1 oysters. The oysters sell out quick so its tough to get there after work if you don’t live in wellesley. The oysters are awesome, and really all of the fish is great. Lobster mac and Cheese is just ok. Overall, great place, can’t beat the price or the freshness.

Not sure what the hype is about. Maybe the locals don’t have many good seafood restaurant choices. We ordered chowder, broiled scallops, and the broiled seafood platter. Nothing was seasoned and the scallops and fish were covered in soggy flavorless breading. It would have been better without. The server told us that the vegetables of the evening were green beans with carrots and mushrooms, and we were brought steamed broccoli instead with no explanation. It seemed that’s what everyone else got too, but the server continued to tell people about the wrong vegetable. The service was below average, and we waited a while between the chowder and the main course. I would not come back again and was disappointed. One of the few times Unilocal let me down.

Already impressed enough after one visit to write up a full, detailed review and I can’t wait to go back! What’s the worst thing about CMS? The parking sitch. I believe I parked«illegally» at the building next to it because the lot was so full at about 1PM on a weekday. Luckily, I was able to grab the LAST table in the place once I walked in so there was no wait. It’s busy so just be prepared for that. Inside is not too kitschy, with just the right amount of ocean décor to satisfy a usual land lubber. The gentleman that seated me also waited on me hand over foot throughout the entire meal. He didn’t scoff at me when I asked for seconds on the complimentary cornbread(which is killer btw). They really know how to pace a business lunch here even if it was packed to the gills, I was in and out in under a half hour which is necessary. I was quickly offered a drink and then a minute later he came to take my order. I had perused the menu in advance on the website as well as Unilocal and noticed that they offered up «lunch specials». Since it was National Sandwich Day, I had to go with one of those and I looked no further than the lobster melt that was offered today for only $ 10.95 with a side, I chose the mixed veggies of autumn squash. The sandwich was a perfect amalgam of lobster parts to mayo, toasted just the way I like it on the outside. The veggies needed a little flavor but nothing the salt and pep on the table couldn’t handle. It’s rare to find lobster anything for this price so I was glad I was able to get a lunch that wouldn’t hit my wallet too hard. To recap, the food was just about perfect, the service was stellar with check in hand before I even asked for it and the ambiance was quintessential New England seafood trappings. Unilocal comes through for the gazillionth time as I found it because of the app and high ratings for Wellesley. Now that I’m working in the area more often, I am counting down the days until I return.

Food was fresh. Friendly service! We had the scallop pasta, fried oyster dinner and some oysters and clams from the raw bar. Onion ring was a-okay The pasta was decent; nothing special about the dish but the ingredients were plenty. Good amount of scallops and shrimps. Taste was on the light side which I like. We got the fried oyster entrée with lettuce and tomamto. They were delishh. Omg the best cornbread I’ve ever had!

When in Rome(or Natick, Wellesley, etc.)…do as the locals do. So using the cool Unilocal talk feature I pinged the locals on seafood(more specifically lobster rolls); Fin H. recommended the Captain and we hit it up tonight. We waded thru the sea of blue hairs and found our way to the counter after a 20 minute wait. $ 1 oyster Monday? Oh… ok. I’ll take 4 to start. Bowl of chowder? Yes please. Lobster roll? Sure. With slaw? Yeah why not. What else can I say… ridiculously fresh oysters, absolutely perfect. Chowder was so tasty with huge chunks of clams. Lobster roll… wow. Overflowing with huge pieces and so fresh. Even the cornbread and slaw were good. There are only a handful of places you can get fresh seafood in Indiana and it just can’t approach this. What a cool group of comments and recommendations Natick’ers and west Bostoners… thanks. You guys made my night and it was a meal I won’t soon forget. You guys are alright.
