We had a great time at this creamery! A nice young woman greeted us at the door and offered us a plate of samples to try. They were delicious and generously sized. They also allowed us to purchase cheese at factory prices, which was ~20% cheaper than prices I’d seen in stores. We could not walk around the facilities, as it was more of an administrative space, but the samples alone were worth it! I really liked the butter, which was an unexpected find. Highly recommend.

Vermont creamery is AMAZING. I stumbled upon them at a farmers market in boston and fell in love with their bonne bouche cheese and their herb covered goat cheese. I bought the bonne bouche(since it’s kind of pricey to buy both since i dont normally eat cheese) and it was perfect in all the right ways. I then went to a local whole foods market and found their goat cheese(which i initially thought was the bees knees) and bought it for myself. I havent been to their location, but if their cheese is as great as their company, you have to check it out. if i could give their quality a milion stars, i would. I wish this place nothing but success! keep on cheesin.

A few weekends ago my boyfriend and I took an impromptu trip to Stowe, in part to look at the area before ski season, but also to look at as many Vermont cheese farms as possible. We had struck out at a couple places(the farm was closed, no one was around, we couldn’t poke around and ask questions), so we were a bit bummed when we drove up to Vermont Creamery to see that the building was under construction and the premises appeared empty, except for a few men doing construction. Frustrated and unsure about where to go next we were sitting in the parking lot trying to formulate a game plan when a genetleman walked up to our car. We were expecting him to ask us to leave, or to tell us that he had called the police and to get off the property, but instead he was incredibly warm, friendly, and inviting. He told us that he was in charge of the aged cheese at Vermont Cremery and that despite the construction he would be happy to show us around and talk to us about their facility and cheese production. He was an outstanding resource and saved the trip for us. He talked to us about the machines and cheese making process at Vermont Creamery, where the milk and cream comes from, and answered all of our questions about delicious cheese. He explained the renovations that were being done to the premises, and showed us the new mechanisms for storing and moving milk, cream, and cheese in its various stages of production. It could not have been a more special, informative, or fun conversation. Joey, you were a dream come true and we really felt incredibly privileged to learn about cheese and Vermont Creamery from you. As we were leaving, Joey graciously gave us some samples of Vermont Creamery’s products. It was such a generous gift, and my boyfriend and I were stunned that someone who had already taken time out of his day to talk to us was willing to share so much cheese goodness with us too. We really had an amazing experience, and were both humbled and wowed by Joey’s knowledge and enthusiasm of all things cheese-related. We would absolutely recommend both going to Vermont Creamery and purchasing their products to anyone. The bonne bouche, in particular, was so delicious that I could not stop eating it and was saddened when it was all gone. We want to give both Joey and Vermont Creamery 10 stars!!! Thanks again for making our trip so unique and special, and for helping us recover from our cheese upsets earlier in the day. We can’t wait to visit again and see all of the renovations when they are complete.

My husband and I were visiting Vermont on our first vacation with our one year old. Our plan was to do a cheese tour one day. We headed on an hour drive to the Vermont Creamery only to find it was closed due to construction. We saw a note directing us to the office next door, but no one seemed to be around. We waited for a few minuets and I’m glad we did because someone came out to greet us. After apologizing and explaining that they were renovating, another employee came out with an insulated gift bag filled with a variety of their yummy cheeses. There was even an ice pack to keep things cool! They were super generous and the cheese was so good. I am so grateful for the Vermont creameries generosity. I recommend stopping by once their renovation is complete.

Someone should really mention that this place is sooooooo creepy to get to. The place doesn’t have any signs or an indicator it’s okay to enter and we actually thought we were at the wrong place. Weird. Just weird. But apparently other people liked it, so maybe we missed the charm somewhere along the way. I guess if you like that sort of thing and are up for the creepy adventure to get some cheese then you’ll have a good match.

This place has the most delicious butter and cheese I have ever tasted. The award winning Bonne Bouche is an ash-ripened goat cheese that just melts in your mouth. The European-style cultured butter made every piece of bread taste better. There’s not much of a tour here, but there’s a wall of information with windows into the factory so you can view the cheese-making process. The woman who helped us was incredibly friendly and suggested different cheeses for us to purchase based on our preferences. When I got home I searched for a local place that sells Vermont Creamery products, and lo and behold it appears you can get it at your local Whole Foods!

We visited Vermont Butter & Cheese as part of the Vermont Cheese Trail Tour and Taste. While there, we experienced the masters making one of their signature goat cheeses. Their Bonne Bouche, an ash-ripened artisanal goat cheese is a real taste treat and it is award winning as well. We loved the creaminess of their cultured butter. At 86% butterfat, we are convinced it would taste good on anything — even on itself. If you can’t make it to Vermont, hopefully you will find this company’s taste sensations in a local specialty store near you. The knowledge and friendliness of their staff made the whole adventure most pleasant. They will be among those participating in the Vermont Cheese Fest being held Aug. 23, 2009 at Shelburne Farms in Shelburne, VT. Visit for info on the event.
