Went here to get some grass squares. Firstly, the people working here are completely incompetent. They are rude, take forever to check you out, and don’t know a thing about plants. Anyway, they had a pallet with completely dead grass squares out front, so we looked around back and saw that they had a bunch of bright green, good-looking grass squares squirreled away. After we got our ticket, we drove around to the good grass in the back. The attendant looked really confused standing by the dead grass squares. He followed us around back(he was visibly irritated already) and brought a pallet of good grass around front with the forklift and sat it down next to the dead stuff. This guy starts to load the BROWN, CRUMBLING grass squares into my truck. I stopped him and told him that I don’t want the dead grass. He starts talking to us in Spanish(spoke absolutely no English) being really rude and kind of raising his voice. I recognized a few words — definitely bad words. Really, dude? Finally after about a minute he growls and starts loading the good grass onto our truck. I’ll never come back to this location again. Today we went to the HGC in League City. They have great customer service — avoid this location.

Worst company ever. Saw a huge sign off the road«CHRISTMASTREES $ 39» Wanted to get a tree the next day, tried calling multiple times(and multiple locations) to verify that they actually had trees before we made the drive. No answer. Made the drive because we believed the sign — mistake. No Christmas tree, not for another week and a half … Also, they keep their phone locked up in the back so they will probably never answer. I will NEVER give any Houston Garden Center my business. And you shouldn’t either

First of all this location has moved across Gulf Fwy. Went last weekend and everything was ½ off. That’s the good part. There was no one there with any knowledge of plants. Two female employees were sitting on sacks of potting soil visiting, and it pained them to get up and run the register. I was there for 45 minutes looking for plants and not once did they come out. When I finally came inside and asked them a question they said they didn’t know. I asked for birdseed and they pointed in a direction. I couldn’t find it and the girl replied, «if you can’t find it I guess we’re out.» The worst customer service ever. You can mark your plants 75% off, but gardeners have questions. Another complaint is if you don’t have knowledgeable people at least label plants with instructions ~ annual or perrenials, amount of sun, water, etc. You are on your own here!

The Moro Blood Orange I bought here turned out to be a yellow orange, not a red fleshed one. Both the pot and the tree had the Moro label. I still had the receipt. They were unwilling to replace it or refund. They have a no refund policy, but this should have been made right. I avoid going back there and hope you will, tool

You get what you pay for. This place sells its stock cheap. Service isn’t great but it’s tolerable. They park a big truck close to Nasa Parkway, with ads for specials on the side. They often don’t have the merchandise they’re advertising. But they’ve got a fair amount of stock at low prices, and nothing I’ve bought there has died right away or been carrying infestations.

Houston Garden Center(all of them) is by far the most dishonest company in Houston, even worse then some of the car companies. They false advertise prices and stock on TV and on the side of the trucks at their stores(.88 cent grass squares) for example. And like the others have said, very few English speaking workers. I would rather drive to Home Depot in Alaska then shop at one of these stores again. I wish the BBB would investigate them.
