Fun! If you are into fiber arts & have any desire to see how yarn is made, you must visit this amazing place! I can’t describe the design of the building adequately. It’s specially designed for energy efficiency & has won awards(sorry, can’t remember the really cool one). On Tuesdays they offer free tours of the mill. This sounds more comprehensive than it really is – you stand on the second floor & look down onto the production floor through a wall of windows. But it’s great because all of the processing is right there in front of you. from the roll-up door where the fleeces are dropped off to the machines that ply & spindle(is that a verb?!) the yarn. Our guide answered all of our questions & seemed to care very much about the product. Do yourself a favor & watch the video on their web site. It’s very fun to watch & the alpacas are adorable! Shopping. Yes, you can buy yarn here, of course. Not all of it is made here, because this is a processing facility for clients who bring in their raw fiber. Depending on their preferences, they can choose minimal work, such as washing, or have their fiber dyed & spun into finished yarn. The store had some great yarns. batts & undyed goods. What a blast we had. The only way it could have been better is if I could have petted the alpacas & goats on the farm just down the road!!!
