I don’t give many 5 star reviews but Mesquite deserves one for the experience I just had. For starters, the interior is down-home and the atmosphere is relaxing. The servers and staff were super friendly and willing to accommodate a party of 10. The food was ah-mazing! We ordered quite a few appetizers and all were tasty. The rib eye that I ordered was perfect. Absolutely the most perfect steak ever. Seasoned perfectly. Charred in all the right places. Pink and juicy inside. It melted in my mouth. I will dream of that steak for the rest of my life.

The Mesquite Pit has a large dining area which is great because when we come at dinner time on a Friday, not a wait. Plus this is one of the few restaurants that still take actual reservations. The food is really flavorful. The BBQ beans are really good and my picky daughter eats them, so that says something good. They have large portions and you have no reason to go away hungry. The steaks are cooked to the desired request and it was not dry. The chopped brisket plate comes with a lot of brisket, so does the sliced brisket. I tried the Mesquite Grilled Salmon this last trip and yum! Salmon was not dry. Cooked all the way through and had a nice mesquite flavor. The side of fries, or okra come in large portions also. Any fish dish comes with 4 hush puppies. Service is good, not over the top but effective. Pay out is at the register so that is usually where the lines are.

To be perfectly honest, we really enjoyed our meal. The food was delicious and although the place was quite busy the waitstaff was pretty attentive. The problem ‘CAMEUP’ 24 hours later. 3 out of the 4 in our party had the tossed dinner salad and the same 3 got sick Sunday night/Monday morning. Classic food poisoning. So, after 48 hours of complete misery I called the restaurant to inform them. When I told the manager that 3 of us were sick she asked«oh no. What did you eat?» When I told her she replied, «There have been some recalls on lettuce. I hope we didn’t get any of that. I better check.» She was not the least bit apologetic, and frankly, I think she was grossly negligent to have not«checked» this sooner. Needless to say, we will NEVER go back there again and I’m seriously considering calling the health department.

My wife and I have been here a few times, my wife actually grew up coming to this place and she really enjoys it; I think it’s simply mediocre. I’ve had the steak, the BBQ, and the fried catfish, all were just mediocre. The ribeye that I’ve had a couple times just seems like poor quality and gritty, the catfish has thick breading and thin meat. The sides are nothing special, didn’t really care for the potatoes, the green beans were ok. They wait to bring you your bread until the dinner comes which is a little frustrating. What really put the beginning of the visit off to the wrong foot is the dinky side salad they give you. Lettuce, two cherry tomatoes, and 5 croutons, with some ranch for $ 4. Sorry, when I come to a steakhouse I want a quality side salad. If you’re on this side of town and just need something to get you by, this place will be fine. However if you’re looking for some great tasting dishes, go elsewhere. Saltgrass does a good ribeye with a fantastic side salad. Babe’s chicken dinner house does friend chicken and fish really well with out of this world tasting sides. Given that I just went here this evening and arrived at 8pm to a pretty dead establishment for a Saturday night, I’d say quite a few people agree with me. Mesquite Pit, you really need to up your quality and game if you plan to stay in business.

Came for lunch; the honey-mustard dressing is fabulous. The potato salad is made with mashed potatoes with very little seasoning, not my favorite by a long shot. Sliced BBQ brisket sandwich was not seasoned nor did I taste very much smoked flavor and the BBQ sauce tasted like Kraft Bold bottled sauce. Waitress was very friendly and observant, that helped with the review. I’ll come back but not very soon.

Chicken fried steak was very good. They only serve Weatherford nasty tap water. They have no bottle water. First place in town I found that the people were very unfriendly. Prices are a little on the high side. Causal atmosphere. I will not go back personally. Too many other places with good food and better people. Maybe they are all from Dallas. Who knows.

This place has a great ribeye steak it is so delicious and juicy and it was a fun place To go with my family in my time in weatherford I also left full and happy and sleepy ! You can’t beat it and it really wasn’t that pricy either ! It’s definitely a place I would recommend if someone wants a nice ribeye steak and a good glass of sweet tea

We make the drive from Fort Worth to Weatherford just for me to get that huge ribeye steak. Introduced by friends to this place it’s become one of our favorites and we are never disappointed. Great service as well.

We just moved to the area. This place has good food and friendly service. My wife had baked Catfish and I had ¾″ Ribeye. She said her fish was awesome and I almost messed up the steak by putting steak sauce on it… the flavor of the steak was excellent! The deserts are good as well. As I said earlier, our server was great, offering menu suggestions which helped us on our first, but not last trip to this restaurant.

This review is about value and the restaurant catering to the people buying their food. The food here is hit or miss, either it’s great or it sucks. Their banana pudding is always good. One point of contention I have is their refusal to offer half sizes. I would order lunch here weekly If they would allow people to order half sizes on their salads and appetizers. Their refusal to do so shows me that they care only about taking your money and not about delivering value for that money. Their avacado ranch is wonderful.

Love the bbq, some of the sides are questionable though. I don’t like mustard that they use in everything like the coleslaw and potato salad. It started to taste the same. Other than that, this is the perfect texas bbq joint. Southern to the bone.

Really good BBQ! Had the brisket, sausage, and ribs… satisfied beyond! The BBQ sauce itself is worth it.

Love this place and always comfortable going there. I’ve probably been about five times and ordered the same thing every time(I’m boring haha) but what I do get I enjoy. My favorite thing by far from this place is the toothpicks appetizer, yum!

We ate here Wednesday night with a party of 4. We were seated immediately. The waitress was very pleasant and friendly, with a big sense of humor. She was not always there when you needed something. We got our drinks immediately, but waited 5 minutes for straws. Our food came quickly, but her checkup to see if we needed anything or ask how it was, took at least 7 minutes. We did need things. So, our meal was cold by that time. The food was ok. By reading the other reviews i expected more. The steak salad was small, the steak fatty(nice flavor), not many toppings, only one grape tomato. The avocado ranch dressing was not what i expected, it looked a fake shade of green and was too salty. The kids brisket plate was a huge portion for $ 4.99. Though my child thought the brisket too dry and the bbq too tangy. Her garlic mashed potatoes were bland. The pork chop and chicken fried steak were okay, not great. Nothing to complain or rave about. Brightest point was the desserts, they were wonderful. Homemade bread pudding was sublime and the banana pudding amazing. Overall, not what i was expecting. I left disappointed with our only meal while in Weatherford. Would not return.

We ate dinner here on a Friday night. Other than the place being so loud, we thought the overall experience was very good. We had fried pickles(excellent), and shared chicken fried steak and fried catfish. Obviously, one doesn’t go here for the health benefits! The food was very good and reasonably priced. I’d definitely return.

Not the best BBQ I’ve ever had but certainly not the worst. The sweet tea is to die for(served in a mason jar). The best thing about Mesquite Pit is the blond-haired bartender… she’s the most beautiful girl I’ve ever seen, no question! :)

This was my first visit to this Mesquite Pit location. Food and service were good, about what one expects. I had the salmon and one of the others with me had the chicken fried steak. Both entrees were tasty. I didn’t care for their green beans though. It seems like they have been in the pot a bit too long as they were kind of soggy. Other than that, a solid visit.
