This was my first time picking at Stevenson’s. The location is beautiful and they are a well-oiled machine. When you pull in you get any picking containers that you will need from the helpful attendant.(This is also the spot that you pay at after picking.) Then you are told which section to drive to for the picking of the day. Once there, lovely ladies will direct you to the row that you may start picking in. As you cover ground you will need to move an orange flag that shows where you have picked so that others won’t waist their time and/or over-pick an area. I love it! Good for business, good for the plants, good for me! The strawberries are a little on the small side right now, but it is early in the season. What they lack in size they make up for in taste and numbers. You won’t be disappointed. Oh! Plus, they are open from 7 – 7! Fantastic hours to run out after work for some berries to put together a little shortcake! The taste of summer…

Plenty of parking, and some good picking! My family has come here for decades; we make jam only from the strawberries grown in this field. I highly recommend packing sunscreen and water. Depending on how long you are picking, bending over will get your back some sun. Get a tshirt and advertise for them too!

You can taste every drop of sunshine in those there strawberries. A little manual labor and $ 0.75 per pound, what a deal! Where else would you get a chance to frolic in the fields with tiny creatures who’s just trying to enjoy some fresh produce as much you. Picking your own food is also fabulous for a cheap meal. They know for every 1 that made it into the basket, 2 went in your mouth. It’s accepted loss so stop covering it up, you’re not fooling anyone. Such a typically Maine thing to do in summer. Oh, you can pick your own peas here too! Just remember: — June is strawberry season, — Mid-June is pea season and — July is blueberry season. Can you remember that? Sure… I knew you could ;)
