Being born and raised in Queens, NY and now living in Morris County, I needed to find a genuine bakery. Enter Gencarelli. Everything here has been fantastic. From pastries to custom cakes, our guests always ask us where we get our Italian pastries. If you are in the market for an authentic Italian Bakery, look no further.

Clean bakery with a great selection. Definitely the best around. Love that the cannoli’s are filled fresh, whereas others bakeries leave them filled in the displays which makes them soggy. Great coffee and bagels too :)

Horrible service, need to employee people that want to be there and not ignore you. Also red velvet cupcakes were always my favorite but they changed the recipe and the Icing tastes like parmigiana cheese.

Ordered a cake to be picked up on Mother’s Day and it was not exactly what I ordered. The kid behind the counter pretty much blew me off when I question the filling. Disappointing because I have been using this bakery for a couple years now and have always been pleased. Hopefully it was just an off day for them.
Cakes are fresh, bread is delicious. A little on the pricey side for some items, very clean, large selection of baked items.

I came to this location for the first time today. I have only been to the bloomfield location and it’s safe to say that’s my number one favorite bakery. I expected the same out of this one, and I must say I am happy that it met my expectations. I got the strawberry shortcake which was fantastic, not too sweet and light and moist. I will have to try other goodies next time to better compare the two locations, but for now I am happy that I can rely on this spot instead of traveling to bloomfield. Gencarelli’s you’re the bomb!

I don’t often rate New Jersey joints since I live in Staten Island and work in Brooklyn but I have to in this situation. Paid a visit the other day to our Wayne office and wanted to get some desserts for my colleagues. Growing up in Bensonhurst, I was exposed to the finest Italian bakery. I’m an expert you can say. I purchased a whole assortment of items here and everything was delicious and fresh. And the lady behind the counter was such a sweetheart. So friendly, accommodating and patient (which is required when I’m trying to select items in a bakery). Reminds me when I was a kid and you’d walk into the old Italian bakeries and how the women would smile and give the little kids a cookie. The negative reviews come from fools who will give 5 stars to Dunkin Donuts and McDonalds and other franchises which I’d never step into who sell mass produced, commercialized junk. This place deserves the appropriate accolades period.

Usually love this bakery but has a crappy experience there yesterday. My mother who lives in Florida is visiting & she loves the pignoli cookies from here. I stopped in & asked a young man at the counter if they had any. I did not see them in the cookie case. He said he had no idea & did not ask anyone. He proceeded to ignore me. I looked around & decided to asked a twenty something guy who just finished with another customer. He got very snippy with me and said that in the future I should call first to see if they have them & that it’s hit or miss. Ummm ok. I have no issue with Gencarellis for not having them but their help sucks! You would think they would want to draw people in. Anyway I got other cookies & they were gross. Back to DebPam!

One of the best bakeries in Wayne, I get my birthday cake from here every year. The food is great and at a reasonable price as well. I highly recommend their fruit tarts and apple pies!

Best bakery ever I wish I lived closer I’d go every day. Birthday cakes never had a bad one yet. Their butter cream is so light fluffy & not too surgery at first I thought it was whipped cream.

This is a great little gem on Valley rd. The prices are more than reasonable and there is a great selection. The chocolate mousse cake is extraordinaire. Check them out and enjoy the goodies.

Started going here about a year and half ago. This is the best bakery in the Wayne area. They have a decent variety of cakes, pies, and cookies. The pastries are very fresh, and the coffee is very good. They also offer a large selection of bread, bagels.

Used to love this bakery until I went to Packanack bakery. Gencarelli’s crumb buns and boston crème donut really tasted fake, like chemicals. Quality not as good as it used to be. Compare their quality to Packanack’s and you will understand.

Decent bakery if your in a pinch on Sundays. They have an ok selection and good cakes too. The bread is ok. The staff is on the younger side and generally a bit snippy. Decided to come back… My family likes the bread and cookies

I wasn’t impressed at all very expensive and the items (cookies) were tasteless it wasn’t worth it! I’d give it zero stars if I could. I think the only reason ppl go here is the same reason I did its the only bakery close by. Yuk!

Large variety of breads, pastries, cookies and specialty cakes. Place is clean and in a convenient location. Prices are fair and I recommend the Canolli cake. Check it out always have plates and special arrangements of items

Good selection of fresh breads plus an enormous selection of pastries, cookies and cakes. OK maybe not enormous but a good selection. A number of Italian specialties.
The original store is at 446 Broad Street in Bloomfield. This is their second location.
