Well another great dinner at Jerry J’s(Plant Ave.) I just had the pork chop dinner with greens and REAL baby lima beans … yeah they were actually cooked for a couple of hours … NOT out of the can … Yummy & Rickey had the ribeye … It is one of the best steaks in town. Thanks Alex & cooks for a job well done!!! Rickey Pitts

Love this place. The staff is so very friendly and attentive. The location is the cleanest fast food type restaurant I’ve ever visited. The food is average for the area, but the price is reasonable and with the awesome service we will certainly be back.

I grew up with Jerry J’s but haven’t eaten there in years and years… until a recent return to Waycross found me pulling into their parking lot in hope of finding some good southern grub. My Nana was the best southern cook in the world but since her passing almost 2 decades ago I’ve not had a true Georgia lunch(dinner to her) or dinner(which was supper). Whatever you might call your meal, ‘great’ ain’t it at Jerry J’s. Things sure have changed since I was gone! Jerry J’s used to be a small operation that focused primarily on burgers and sides. Now it’s a full range of southern cooking — a lot of things ‘fried’ with gravy — as well as the original menu. Prices are still affordable and the place is spotlessly clean. The parking lot seems a bit bigger too? It was packed when we went but we were still able to find a spot. Order at the counter and the food comes in less that 5 minutes. I haven’t eaten fried chicken in a long time but I grew up eating it almost daily and I *know* what good fried chicken should taste like. Now, the Country Fried Chicken plate(with 2 sides and either biscuit or cornbread) wasn’t bad because the chicken was tender and juicy but it was just fried chicken strips covered with brown gravy. That’s not what that’s supposed to be y’all. Fried okra wasn’t hot and mediocre at best. Biscuit was mushy and meh and all they have is honey to sweeten it up. No cane syrup? The mashed potatoes are downright terrible even though they are made with real potatoes. My friend, who lives in Waycross and suggested we go here, was appalled at what I was served so I’m thinking that I may have had an off day. Although her hamburger steak wasn’t much better. I left almost 90% of the food on my plate. The waitstaff was the best part of the experience. I’ve never seen so many smiling faces in my life! They were helpful and apologetic. Oh, and Pepsi products? In the deep south? Hmmm…

Hmmm… ok, the difference between a fast food chain and Jerry J’s? single owner fast food joint that delivers your food to your table(when you dine in). Very strange looking. From the outside it looks like a sit-down diner place. You walk inside and it looks like a fast food place(go to the front counter to place your order and they hand you your cup and a number card to be able to deliver your food when it is ready). Yellow commercial eggs(industrial…yuck) that I asked for cooked medium and they were really too undercooked w/runny whites, a serving of grits ladled on the plate and a huge biscuit that looked almost pre-made and wasn’t memorable. I was asked if I wanted butter for my biscuit and I said yes. I was handed little containers of whipped margarine of some kind(nasty fake butter). My partner ordered two eggs over easy w/meat. His eggs were just so-so and there were three pieces of meat(big slab of ham, a sausage patty and a piece of bacon). Eeek… we are just too into good quality food to say this place was a place we’d visit again. It was no McDonalds(we don’t eat fast food chain food), but this is really not much different from them.

5 stars for service! The food was yummy country fair. Loved the fried zucchini! They cooked my husbands ribeye perfectly. It’s crazy to order the food we got at a counter you would see at a fast food place but getting over that was easy. The manager and staff were all very attentive. It’s nice to get such great southern hospitality! We will be back!

Just moved to Waycross, Ga. about two weeks ago. The wife and I decide to try this establishment and we are glad we did. It was very good cooking the kind momma use to make. I had a platter that consisted of three meats and two veggies for $ 8.99 cant beat that. I will definitely be going back. There was one thing that they need to fix and that is their A/C it was cool in one half of the restaurant but hot in the other half.

My favorite restaurant in town! I love their food-everything from their backyard burgers to their roast beef and rice is delicious. Their breakfast is great, too. They have the best cinnamon rolls you can buy.

Not what we were expecting. I thought we were going to get a homey little diner experience. Reminded me more of a fast food spot than a diner. We came here for breakfast and left satisfied. I could have easily passed this up and gone to McDonalds.

Food is good, consistent, but the owners are VERY reluctant to change. The side dishes never change. And when you ask why, the get defensive. There tea is nasty. But it was cheaper, so Mr J went with it. Not open on Sunday and close early on other days. Nickle and dime you for extra dressing/sauce etc.

I have eaten her at least a dozen times over the past ten years and it is consistently good in food quality and service. It is a no frills place with counter service and self serve drinks. But the country food they serve is always good and the dining room is always spotless. Once you order, get your drinks and silverware and shortly after you get to table you are served your food, hot and delicious. Some of the things I enjoy include fried pork chops, fried squash, fried… well you get the idea. Great prices, good country food.

I need to give this place 4 stars for a few reasons. It’s probably the only restaurant in town. It’s prices are dirt cheap. And it’s very clean. They have multiple side options for your fried chicken. Have the biscuit instead of the corn bread. I’m not a southern fried chicken connoisseur, but this place is good for your options in Blackshear(if you’re ever here for some odd reason).

Was passing through and looking for a good southern meal. The chicken fried steak, turnip greens and biscuit really hit the spot. It is a cafeteria and not fancy, but that certainly didn’t affect the quality of the food. Friendly and attentive staff.

BESTBISCUITINTHESOUTH… Do you remember the huge delicious biscuits Hardee’s started with in the early 80’s? Not the tiny frozen minature’s that they kick out now, but the big, cat head biscuits of the 80“s? JERRY J’s is a throwback to those days. Well run, excellent quality biscuit.

I’ve been to this place twice(once a few years ago and once last night) and it’s always very good. I get the pork chops(because we don’t have good southern pork chops in CA) and they always taste great. The sides taste pretty good. I’ve had the green beans, black eyed peas, fries and corn bread here and they are all average. The staff is friendly and helpful and they bring your food out to you. They also have a produce store inside but I’ve never bought anything from there.
